Plays great. Locked at 60 FPS (versus 120 FPS for Switch 2), and a softer image, but overall it still is one of the best looking Switch 1 games and an incredibly fluid experience. Plus only $10 to upgrade if needed down the road.

The game itself is a bit flawed and uneven at times, but still fun.

It was actually designed for switch 1, with some upgrades for S2. Pretty close if you see them side by side.

Given the rather lukewarm reception to this game relative to previous entries in the series I feel like this title has underperformed in terms of sales and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a fire sale on it at some point.

I doubt that its still one one of the highest grossing games in the series.Metroid was never major selling series only Prime sold the huge numbers that Nintendo games usually sell.

Pointless story, but I preordered a then unnamed Metroid game years ago right before the gamers club unlocked discount went away to lock in the 20% off. That sat dormant for years. By the time this actually launched, my card had expired so the preorder wouldn't go through. But Bestbuy actually phoned me to try to get me to update my card so that I can still receive it. They get an A for effort, but I ended up cancelling it before it shipped. Score one for me. It would have been $48 then.

Wait for the Switch 2 version to come down to this price, will save you $10 later down the road if you have a Switch 2.
