Your knowledge is a bit off. They have a wifi hotspot option on their gateways but you can easily turn it off with the app. You can also put it in bridge mode if you really want to use your own router but I'm good the wifi 6 2.5GB capable one they provide at no charge.

This is what pissing me off about comcast, it's 2026 and we're still paying fiber money for 30-40mbps... I'm in the process of moving from a city with fiber to a comcast monopoly, and it's infuriating paying as much (it was more before this deal) to get less...

I got the 1Gbps deal in January with the Peacock subscription and I'm really happy with the change. Actual BW measured is 1.2 Gbps up/dw. The only downside when I switched from AT&T was a 7 ms increase in latency while playing CoD.

Did anybody actually do this? I see $100 professional installation fee as a one time fee. Is it so? Anyway to bypass this? I have an account but plan on canceling and having roommate sign up.

No, for that I had to call in, they want you to call so their retention department can try to "save you" as a customer.... Which they always fail to do.

Nope, but all my locations already had comcast installed at one point in time or another. If you have never had comcast at the location than they might charge, but its the first I am hearing of it.

Thats why you cancel service and wait a few days and reopen as a new customer again, or setup service under someone else in the household, thats how its done.
Can you help me with the steps to bridge. I tried wjth the router IP 10.0.0.1 and it is blocked by xfinity

$50/month for 5 years and 1GBps is a great deal.

Also in theory Fiber is better but I tried it out and the reality for me at least was that it was often worse because packets get bounced around all over the place leading to way too much latency at times. I don't mean to shill for Xfinity of all companies but come on. For most this is a great deal if they can get it. Just use your own modem/router and don't rent anything from them/don't sign up for anything extra.
