DOCSIS 3.1 will pretty much guarantee the download speeds, but unless things have changed in the past few months, you still need a specific modem (or the Xfinity provided modem) to get the advertised upload speeds.
My modem was bought many years ago but it reached 41mbps upload speed on the 35mbps advertised upload speed, docsis 3.1 can do 1-2g upload if isp support it but they dont

I was an existing customer, $45 for 600 mb/s plan that just had promo expired this month.

I chatted into a Live Sales Agent and got the $50/mo 1 gig plan. They added the plan to my existing account and also said i was eligible for a $100 gift card after 90 days of service.

I just ordered the new service using an incognito window but completed the order under my xfinity ID. I now have 2 accounts showing under my ID so I guess my platinum benefits won't transfer to the new account...

I believe the rewards status is linked to your login, not to each individual account, you should still have your platinum status. It's easy to check, it should show when you open the "Account" tab in the Xfinity App.

Also, when you go and activate your "new" account, the "old" account should automatically disappear.

Do you need those enhanced speeds?

I've also always used my own equipment and refuse to use their gateway since (to my knowledge) it's what acts as a mesh node for their Mobile Network.
I just signed up for their 100mbps plan and $29.99 and working well. Getting 95/105 mbps and works great for my needs. Huge difference in speed if I use ethernet cable vs wireless on my laptop..like double. Probably due to my laptop getting old. EDIT: that plan price includes the white tower modem.

About 2 years ago when I rinse-repeated via the new acct trick, I temporarily lost Platinum status as soon as the new account was activated; the old was still active several weeks. A quick message to Comcast's reddit support reps got it fixed via a rep ModMail message. On the other hand, when I did this same $50 deal in December, it preserved rewards status. YMMV but I would not fear losing status (which is of limited importance anyway). Regarding the old account disappearing on its own, that was not my experience, either time. During the first account recycle the old one didn't disappear for several weeks; the most recent one likely would have also hung around awhile (the end of its billing cycle?), but I called and had them cancel it a few days later. Comcast's systems are one of life's great mysteries Smilie.

The last time I did this a year ago, I experienced something similar, my old account hung around for a while even after activation of the new account. This time around (yesterday) it disappeared from my login almost immediately after I activated my new account. You're right in that I suspect it's still hanging around somewhere I their database, and I also expect to get some sort of partial month invoice soon, but as of now, I cannot access the old account online anymore.

I started a chat this morning to switch over to this plan. I was told I was eligible and to expect a phone call in the next 30 mins to confirm.

Of course, no such call came. I called in the afternoon and they said the agent "lied" and that I am not eligible for the deal. I argued back and forth with them, they wouldn't budge even though they saw the contents of the chat on the account.

So I did what others here suggested and created a second account at the address. I logged in with my existing username and password at the end of the purchase process. I then activated my modem on the new account. After some time to provision, it registered successfully and showed up in the new account.

I called Comcast to cancel the old account. Supposedly they confirmed cancellation but the old account is still showing up under my username and password. We'll see if this actually goes through or if I have to continue following up with them.

While I am happy with the result - $50 is a great price for this service - I truly despise this company and wish they'd get their comeuppance at some point. Introductory pricing is one thing, but to offer a $50 discount over the going rate for five years for new customers is crazy. Five years is hardly an intro term, particularly at a $50/mo discount. The local telco is deploying fiber pretty much everywhere around our area, just not in our neighborhood yet. Hopefully sometime in the next five years, I have the option to get rid of these weasels.

My old account was automatically cancelled about 24 hours after I activated the modem on my new account. I received an email stating so and when I checked all my linked accounts via the Xfinity app, it says my old account is inactive

Can those who created 2nd account under your Xfinity ID educate me: do you need to manually switch your existing Xfinity Mobile lines to the new account or the transfer will happen automatically when the old account was cancelled?

As you know, Xfinity mobile charges extra if it doesn't detect you have home internet business at the same time. I did the trick and currently (no surprise) my Xfinity mobile lines are still with the old one. I received the new modem but haven't activated it yet. Plan to activate on 6/1.

If you have your own existing modem and want to sign up with for a new account under the same username, how does the activation of the modem work? Can I activate my existing modem ( used with the old account) to the new Xfinity account?

Does the system allow that considering that the modem is tied to the old account? Or do I have to switch to Xfinity equipment in the new account?

I really do despise using Xfinity equipment because of hidden taxes and one bad experience where they literally charged me for equipment that I had already returned. Thanks.

I just did this with a Hitron Coda56. I went through the activation process with this modem while it was active on my old account. It worked fine.

What didn't work fine was cancelling the old account. I mentioned upthread that I called them to cancel, which apparently never went through. I needed to go to Reddit and ask support there to do it. It took over an hour messaging them but it finally went through, and I see in the billing section of the account that it's in disconnected status.

FWIW I selected "create an additional account" at sign-up rather than select the moving option, since I figured the system wouldn't let me move to the same address.
