They should be yes. Add a bench and you can do a good bit of exercises. Depending on your initial strength, 20lb might be light for some compound exercises like chest press. If you haven't lifted at all before, this is a good starter set for things like bicep curls, tricep extensions, lateral shoulder raises, forarm/reverse curls, etc.
