Man I got the Massdrop equivalent a couple of years ago for $169. Should have picked two at the time.

HD6XX's equivalent would be HD650, not HD600. The former has a slightly bloated mid-bass, and the latter has a flatter frequency response.

Thanks. Good to know. I ordered one of these. My HD 6xx are the most comfortable headphones I own.

Agreed! Unfortunately, the foam discs in mine have deteriorated after years of use and Sennheiser no longer sells them separately, and I'll have to replace the whole set of earpads.

BTW, you can now get the HD6XX from Sennheiser directly, but they're priced higher than on Drop, so the HD600 in this deal is a better buy, IMO.

300 ohms so anything that can cover that. Most devices computers phones handheld itouch etc. are about 10-45 ohm's max.

TBH my favorite pairing for this series is the Dark Voice 336SE. But I hear tube amps in general pair best with this headphone.

The build of the massdrop one is different. It's way cheaper feeler and tighter for smaller heads. I've compared both hand in hand.

Technically not, they are 300 ohms so very easy to drive, but some headphone amps sound just better than the built-in 50-cent chip that many receivers have. Inexpensive but really good are 100% American-made Schiit Audio HP amps.

These may not be the best in bass or clarity, but they are a quasi-standard, very neutral and accurate - typical German very precise but not too much fun (trust me I can make that statement... Smilie )
