Just giving you guys a heads up. I just left Staples and now they actually charge you $2.99 a battery to recycle batteries(this is YMMV, I think it depends on your location. I'm in Florida). So don't even bother recycling batteries at Staples anymore. It doesn't even make any sense, why would anyone pay $2.99 a battery to recycle it? I thought i was on candid camera.

Same here in Texas. Now you can pay $3 to recycle a battery to get $2.50 worth of rewards. Guess they decided they don't want to recycle batteries anymore but didn't want to change their rewards policy on the subject 😅

You'd think as much as Staples is struggling they'd try harder not to chase away people going into their B&M stores, that battery drop off could lead to a purchase. Like the other day I tried to call a Best Buy retail location and the call center people (when you call the local #) won't let you speak to someone at a store....so they lost a sale. Seems like these companies are digging their own graves.

i thought i read somewhere that they waive the recycle fee if you purchase batteries at the same time.
