1 acre on an 80v 10ah battery is a lie. I have a greenworks mower with a 80v 8ah battery and it doesn't even do 1/3 of an acre on a single charge.

I have over 4 acres, and can an upper.acre with three 2aH batteries. That's without being self-propelled, though. It's about 6-7 years old, so its not a newer brushless motor. I don't know how radically that changes running time.

I think it really depends on how long you let your grass grow and what height setting you use..

With my Ryobi 40V hrushless 21" self propelled mower on setting 3 height/medium speed I can get about 1 acre on 2x 6aH battery. On setting 1 (lowest height), it takes me 4x battery

That sounds right.

My 18v on 2-6ah will not be enough for my 1/4 yard with grass up to the knees. I will go through at 4-6ah batteries. And that is if the mower doesn't over heat and shutdown.
But when I stay on top of it with grass less than half inch then the batteries are enough.

I wish I could go with another Ryobi mower, but my first one spontaneously died and their warranty service is atrocious. Either I can drive over an hour to another state to reach the closest authorized service center that might hopefully be able to fix it, or I can pay to ship it to them, which (thanks to SD) would end up costing more than I paid for it. Decided to go with a Kobalt for now since apparently it is as simple as it used to apparently be for Ryobi, bringing it right into the store to fix or exchange.

Depends on the grass. I have a rider Ryobi mower that runs with only two 80v 10a batteries like that, the one with a larger deck and joystick, and it mows my 1/3 of an acre lot with 50% battery left or <10% left if it's thick and wet. I can't see why this little mower wouldn't be more efficient than my mower dragging me around too.

I have a 24-volt 8 amp battery on an older Ryobi mower, and can easily do a third of an acre on a charge

Still not worth the money. I'd rather go for a Honda at this price, it will last you generations(with proper care).
Honda are great, if you can find a used one. You'll have to, since Honda stopped selling small engine lawnmowers in the U.S. I have a 13 year old Sam's Club Black Max mower with a Honda engine that I still use today. It's been the best mower I've ever owned with it's Honda GCV 160.

I think the battery vs gas in here is similar to BEV vs ICE conversation. While I only drive ICE vehicles (my next vehicle will likely be a hybrid sienna unless I can get a VW Bus for the same price), I jumped into the 20v Ryobi lawn tools 3 years ago. I may have the smaller mower, but the light weight and not having to deal with gas & exhaust is nice plus the only maintenance is blade sharpening. I would like a wider one but damn these 80v ones are expensive.

That's about what i get on my half acre, half of it on a hill with constant self propelled on, will go through 1x6ah battery, and i just need to switch over to the second one for the last few minutes, cutting at height 3. Cutting at 2 and baggin heavy grass i end up switching to the second battery at about half way point. That still gives it more than enough juice to switch over to the wheedwhacker go around the perimiter, switch to the blower to clean up sidewalks and the driveway.

I have the 40V Ryobi Mower, Hedge Trimmer, String Trimmer, Blower, and 2 Chainsaws. Best decision I made in lawn care for everything except the mower. I love Ryobi's 40V lineup, right power for the right price. I have the thick Florida St Augustine grass and sometimes I go through 2 x 6 ah batteries to mow and sometimes I need a little more for my 1/2 acre yard. Not a big deal to charge in the middle. Just mow first and if I need a little more, I trim and blow while waiting. I love how quiet and light weight it is compared to my Honda HRV, but not the same power. My Honda boggs down too but not as bad.
Also this is a 30", cannot compare it to a 21". A 30" will take less time to mow the same yard. If you have a 1/4 acre or bigger and don't like mowing, the 30" will shave off a 1/4 of the time. Well worth it and I would have gotten if it was this price when I bought.
