What?!? They're going to ruin this classic now?

Now, when has netflix or amazon ever ruined a beloved IP by "re-envisioning" it, alienating the original fanbase without winning over a new one so that everyone hates it?

Oh yeah, Death Note, Wheel of Time, Rings of Power, Witcher (later seasons), Utopia, War of the Worlds (sorry Ice Cube), and (coming soon) Stargate, Little House on the Prairie, and so on...

Seriously, if you hate an IP or franchise, and you seemingly hate the people who already love it, why do you spend the money to buy the rights, change everything about it so fans can't even recognize it and nobody will appreciate it? You lose literally millions of dollars in the process and garner the lasting ill will of fans who will always remember how you both ruined and locked up their favorite IPs. I just don't understand the endgame.

Amazon canceled the Stargate reboot at least for now.

But they hold the full IP rights over Stargate after their acquisition of MGM, so they can do whatever they want with it. They cancelled the show that was in the works with the original show creators over "creative differences" but nothing can stop amazon from re-imagining new Stargate shows/movies with their own special amazon prime flavor.

No one really gets it, but in order to tear down a society (western culture), you have to tear down everything that it envisions as good, and taint it in people's minds. Modern show producers know they will lose millions of dollars but they don't care, but they aren't losing their own money. They are using government money funded to them by NGOs. They MUST ruin every single part of the old culture and "re-imagine" it for a "modern audience" so that the next generation will look at the Lord of the Rings and immediately think of Rings of Power. You must think of LotR and get a bad taste in your mouth.

Every franchise must be redone in their modernized version in order to control people more effectively. The people must lose hope for the future and want their society to be torn down, so you must convince them that their culture is harmful and wrong. They must believe it.

Rebecca Sonnenshine is the worst possible name I could see attached to this project. Dead before it even had a chance.

I was born and raised in South Dakota, the Ingalls Family and their legacy was a HUGE deal there.
