From what I understand, it was basically false news that Reddit/Twitter/etc freaked out about without knowing the full answer but it didn't help that Sony didn't give an answer for 7 days.

Basically, Sony now requires a one-time DRM check because users were basically doing refund scams.


"Players can continue to access and play their purchased games as usual. A one-time online check is required to confirm the game's license, after which no further check-ins are required."

That first game released wayyyy back in 2007 so it's nearly 20 years old. It was incredible and basically Indiana Jones for console and most thought it was ahead of it's time when released.
