Not a good deal. Wait for Canon to restock their refurbished selection.

R or RP and the nifty fifty RF 50mm f1.8 is all you need.

Take this from a guy who's had all the best canon gear under the sun.

This same kit gets as low as $320, which is an insanely good value if all you need is an entry-level type of DSLR. Even at $480, which is the current refurbished price, it's a better value than this deal on new. Canon refurbished store has been the way to go for the past 15 years+ on any of their cameras or lenses.

The T7 is a starter camera with starter lenses. If one gets into this hobby and starts really liking it, he/she will want something better soon. So it makes sense to buy something better. I have been out of this hobby for a while, so I am not in a great position to recommend. The last camera I bought - and it was for someone else - was a refurbished RP with a bunch of lenses on a deep sale from Canon. It was a great choice at the time and probably still is. It's a matter of catching it both in stock and on sale.

One angle to consider is the resale value. If you catch a good sale on Canon Refurbished, you can't go wrong with any purchase: you will always be able to resell your gear and get your money back (or better). In this sense, even the two-lens T7 kit for $320 is a big winner. Easy to resell if you decide to upgrade later. But at $600 new, I think it's a waste.

Depends what someone is shooting though, right? I have the 50 and it's terrible for event photography when you have limited space. What would you recommend as an all in one lense to shoot full body close and far?
