Probably better to wait for Air 3 or 4 as it is expected that they have better battery life, better camera, etc... Air 2 will be released spring 2027 and will cost more. You can always wait for something better until it is too late

Based on what I've seen, the Air 2 is not releasing until spring 2027. This September they are supposed to release a foldable phone.

Just wanted to throw out that Apple moved forward with the 20% price increases on existing hardware, so if you're in the market and price is more important than bleeding edge performance, might actually be a good time to buy.

The configuration for the m5 pro MacBook I bought last month just jumped by nearly $500 ($2799 --> $3299) on the Apple site.

IMO better to wait for Air 2 at this point as it's expected to have improved battery life.

The new Air and Pro will be released in two months, with significant jump in hardware specs. Indeed, it is not worth buying these models now unless heavily discounted. The Air with its single camera is not worth $800+ anyway, in my opinion. It is just not a practical phone.

I agree if you don't need it right now it's best to wait for the Air 2.

There are 3 major drawbacks when it comes to this specific model that many owners have expressed
  1. Only 1 speaker (earphone) and its not very loud (for speakerphone and media consumption)
  2. single camera doesn't have great zoom capabilities
  3. battery life can be an issue for power users
Now its not guaranteed the next revision fixes any of those compromises for such a small thin phone.

BUT IMHO its worth the wait if you can, because IF those issues are fixed it's a instant-buy for me (with trade in of course) but if you buy this current model and the new one fixes those issues I'd definitely be kicking myself

If this phone goes $500 or less soon I may get one. Sales haven't been great. Apple seems to be trying to find a "Middle Child" in their iphone lineup and it doesn't seem to be working. They keep on killing them off after a few years.

It was the Iphone mini 12 and 13 - discontinued. Then it was the 14/15/16 Plus - discontinued. Now its the Air, I do think they have a potential winner here if they can fix the few caveats that turn people off to this current model.

My source is Mark Gurman, as I used for my post regarding Air 2 - to answer your question apparently it's nearly ready to launch alongside Siri AI this fall.

Hope that helps!

Siri AI? Air 2?
Both will probably never release.

It's widely rumored that Apple will wait to launch the Air 2 until spring 2027.

It's been pretty much confirmed by phone case makers in China that Apple is moving to a staggered release.

Siri AI is already available on iOS27 beta. Millions of iPhone users are already using it.

iPhone Air resale value is hanging on to dear life. These prices have nowhere to go but down from here.
