In 43 days, I will be having my first major surgery. I will be having orthognathic surgery and a chin implant done in the same procedure.
As I was a kid, my upper jaw grew in too much causing a strain to close my lips which leads to incessant mouth breathing and therefore, inflamed gums. Not to mention if I didn't do something to fix my jaw, my teeth would go crooked again (I'm on my third round of braces because the first two times my orthodontist did not correct the problem) and I hate my gummy smile. This is all covered by my medical insurance, thankfully, although it can sometimes be considered cosmetic because it is supposed to "enhance" your face. The only thing that isn't will be my chin implant, which is purely cosmetic. I have a weak chin and think it would complete the transformation. Also, if I do it when I have the surgery, I don't have to pay for the hospital fee/anesthesia and have an additional recovery. In all, the surgery should cost $1275 barring no complications ($1200 for the chin, $75 for the copay). It sounds weird to say I'll be getting a chin implant.
Needless to say, the date is fast approaching and I'm getting nervous. I remember when I started talking about this surgery 2 years ago and now it's finally going to happen. I'll probably be spending a lot of my recovery time on here, so I'm hoping for some entertainment. Surgery is scheduled to last 5.5 hours and then I leave the next morning. I'm not too sure how long recovery will be, but I'm hoping I'll be nice and healed up without braces by the end of the year.
It's becoming so very real.
I have a question, too. Does anyone have any good liquid diet recipes? I basically have to say good-bye to good, solid food for a long time.

how long will you be on a liquid diet?
I'm not sure how long I'll be on the liquid diet, I think at least 2-3 weeks, maybe more.

I think there was a BOGO Jamba Juice coupon earlier today.. better stock up
She survived on jello and ensure. She didn't like milkshakes though. I remember the highlight of her Christmas was really watery mashed potatoes and new years was a strawberry daquerri.
There is no good liquid diet. You just lose variety.
