I actually love Segway's recent direction into e-bikes; so it makes me wonder, why did they bother going into the power station market? I wonder the same about DJI (compared to "do what you're best at")? Maybe these business models were formulated during that crazy period a few years ago when the future looked like it was going to be continuous lockdown and the need for self-sufficient home infrastructure (now an hilarious memory of overreaction).

Great comment. Another point to add is that this did decently well in Project Farms testing five months ago, and I'd say is impossible to beat at this price point.

Always surprised they don't sell these guys with the ability to program taking over from the grid, then switching back/charging later, rather then pure emergency power lol. In places with ToU structures, doing the rate arbitrage would make them pay for itself if hooked up to a power guzzler. Seems like it'd take so little added effort. You could have it have an emergency reserve, then it can do arbitrage and emergency power at the same time. Guess the UPS stuff would add extra cost though.

Wow that is surprising there's no UPS function. Pretty much all power stations have that feature. I guess Segways engineers didn't get the assignment.

The Segway Cube is being discontinued. The Cube 1000 was pulled from Segway's website (404) and is OOS at Amazon. The expansion batteries were also pulled (404) and have been out of stock for months. This is the lowest price on the Cube 2000 that I've seen, soon it too will disappear. Amazon says no returns. Just be aware.

There is a UPS function. From the manual:

UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)
This function is not applicable to all electric appliances but for resistive appliances only, such as hair dryers and
electric kettles. Please test the compatibility before use. High-power appliances like air conditioners, coffee makers,
dryers, electric stoves, large refrigerators, microwave ovens, lawnmowers, ovens, and washing machines are not
compatible.
When you connect the power station to the AC power source, and then connect the appliances to the AC socket of the
power station, the appliances will get power from the AC power source, not the power station. When the AC power
source fails, the power station will automatically switch to inverter-powered for the appliances in 20-30 millisecond.
The UPS function is the offline type and does not support 0ms-switch. Do not use the power station to charge devices
that require a continuous power supply. Please test the compatibility before use.

There is UPS function 100% but it doesn't work well. It switches to battery power automatically no problem. But if battery dies and power comes back on, it doesn't switch the AC outlets back on. It just stays off and providing no power.
