I did this deal yesterday at my local Best Buy in Yorba Linda, CA Best Buy. I purchased online for pickup. It was ready within an hour, i brought my grey Switch 1 with power cable, dock and straps. I completed the trade in and the only thing they required was the console w/joycons and the power cable. He let me keep the docs and straps. They said they just recycled the other parts. I also had the same issue as the other poster about the rep saying I only get $75 back, i showed the receipt, the manager came and showed me the screen that it does shows $75 trade in and $75 for trade in promo with Switch 2 purchase. He said the $150 will be refunded back to my credit card within 48 hours. Process was easy, the only quality check they did was they made sure it turned on and that iis it.
Back when it was about a year after they stopped selling them, I paid a little under $300 for a mint condition "New" 3DS XL, U.S. model with IPS top screen. Then bought another of the exact same thing for around the same price, just so I can have a spare. No regrets, for the unique gaming experience alone, but increasing value is a bonus lol.
What do we need to trade in? Just the console and joycons? Or do we need a dock and charger too.
From what i read online console, dock, joy cons, joy-con straps, joy-con grip, AC adapter, HDMI cable
I need to find a cheap HDMI cable threw all mine away sometimes places like Gamestop will charge you $10-20 if you are missing an item dont know how Best Buy works
Yep, this. If a smeary handheld image doesn't bother you, the Switch 2 is an upgrade in every front. But if you have other OLED screens, those response times are miserable.
I put in well over 100 hours and my switch to since I got it last year and I still can't see the smearing that people are claiming to see. To me, the screen is a major upgrade from my V1 Switch along with my LCD steam deck, both of which are pretty terrible in comparison.
Does anyone know if they take multiple consoles? I have a Mario Red Switch 1 and my wife has an Animal Crossing Switch 1, I understand that I'd only get one $75 bonus, but that would possibly take the price a bit lower.
Honestly if you have a Switch OLED in good condition, you are better off keeping it. Why? You are only getting up to 130.00.
Take a look at what good condition NDS and N3DS systems go for nowadays. Switch is no longer being manufactured. As time goes on their value will increase. There's plenty of examples of S1 games playing worse on S2 hardware. Some have been fixed, others may not.
Those systems notably require concessions to emulate--there really is no alternative to the hardware. You can run any number of Switch emulators on any number of devices, totally ignoring that the Switch 2 has full backwards compatability. Switch prices are never going back up, just look at the Gamecube and Wii which haven't seen the same price creep, or the previous Nintendo handhelds whose values have largely remained reasonable.
Poorly. The Switch 2 has a bottom of the barrel screen even for an LCD. Pixel response times are among the worst in the industry.
I'm on oled fanboy but this takes the cake. The screen is fantastic. Pixel response time? Don't know and don't care for a handheld. My bottom line, I can barely tell it's not oled and I can't use iPad air because it's not oled.
It's literally the fastest selling game machine in the history of games.
Not really. It had a very good start but sales have stalled considerably, even with the September scare. Also, a lot of people are returning their consoles, just look at used stock from Amazon, Woot and Gamestop. The economy is hurting and Nintendo is not really offering compelling reasons to upgrade. The hype is dying out.

How is Switch 2 sales doing now, btw? Switch 2 going on clearance and retailers begging customers to buy them.

Switch 1 is still being manufactured and sold, just not in Europe due to the new replaceable battery laws. At this point there are almost no examples of Switch 1 games playing better on switch 2.

This seems like a really good deal. My son is 11 and has the OLED model now. Other than the screen may not be as good is there any other reasons not to upgrade to the switch 2? Thanks
The Switch 2 is better in almost all ways. however battery life is lesser. The Switch 2 uses Micro SD express cards, not the same as the standard Micro SD cards. Some labo accessories
will not work with Switch 2.

I was once told I have some early/older model Switch 1 that is sought after because it's a model # that can be hacked to be able to do something else... I don't really remember. But I was told back then that if I ever wanted to get rid of it that I should sell it instead of trading it in cuz I would get more money... Does that make any sense to anyone reading this?
The earliest Switch 1 models had an easy exploit. This is desirable to some homebrew and pirating communities. But it may be more difficult for you to find a buyer that values that.

Anybody have experience trading in a Switch 1 OLED for a Switch 2 with Animal Crossing at Best Buy? I traded in a Switch 1 non-OLED for a Switch OLED years ago at GameStop and it was a time-consuming exercise to get Animal Crossing data transferred that required both Switches and a bit of patience from both me and the employee. It seems unlikely Best Buy would extend such a courtesy.
Is it going to be anything like three houses? That game blew me away, normally I'm totally against Waifu relationship simulator games but it was just so well done that I was hooked until the end.
You should look at previews. It appears to be more similar to 3 Houses than Engage was, but it's also different in a lot of ways.

Is the data export to the cloud (since you won't have both systems on hand) locked behind the paid online Nintendo service?

Can someone comment on how to export setting/data to new device if were to do the trade in store?
Can I export via microSD card?
You can do a system to system transfer if they will let you.
The cloud saves only work with the online service subscription.

It's the same thing. NO it has not outsold the nearly 10 years and 160 million units that Switch one had done in the one year. It is however outselling every videogame platform right now and is outpacing every platform in history.
