A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

I definitely want to check out Mad Men. What's this "The Killing" you speak of? Can I watch it on Netflix? Scratchchin
Turn on AMC right now, it's probably on! Nah, the whole season is one murder case. I think you can watch all the episodes on AMC site, I had to watch one that I missed on there.

Another AMC original fan here. I watch all Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead and now The Killing. They are developing a new show called Hell on Wheels, which looks pretty good as well. I saw an extended preview of it while taking a survey. You should Google for information on that show, it's set in the 1800s during the construction of the first railroad and the cities and corruption that come from that.

not yet. its in the first season on amc. its about a murder case in seattle. i'm not saying more so you can experience the full effect when you watch it. its really well done.

The Walking Dead! That's another one I was told I needed to watch.

OK, so I need to figure out how many of these shows I can get on Netflix Instant Watch. And if I can't get the shows there, I need to figure out how to Pirate them and somehow play them on the PS3. laugh out loud

Have you seen Six Feet Under? It's one of my most favorite shows of all time. The pilot episode of that show was awesome.
Iagree The first few seasons were great. It kind of petered out after that, but the series finale episode has to be one of the best drama finales ever.

Weeds is probably my top "Why am I still watching this show?" It stopped being funny 3 seasons ago and it's not a very good drama.

Also, if you like the idea of one story that lasts the entire season, check out the first season of "Murder One."

Actually, Six Feet Under was probably the one show that shocked the hell out of me during its final season. I never thought they would do something until the finale and they did it half way through the season!

We just watched "The Tourist" last night, featuring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp.

vomit Stupid movie. Bad character development, love story occurs partway through with a "because I love you" without nurturing the love development beforehand, and too many gaps in the story telling. MAYBE it could have been good if it was written differently and was longer. Glad we didn't pay to see that one. look around

If you don't mind subtitles, check out "Anthony Zimmer" - it's the French movie that "The Tourist" was based on.

It's a pretty good (not great) watch - it's gotta be a lot better than the Jolie/Depp thing.

I think my husband and I burned through all of Weeds in a little over a week. My daughter and I are hooked on Samantha Who and DH is a Twilight Zone junkie right now. We don't have cable so Netflix saves us when there is nothing worth watching on reg tv.
I love Weeds! The creator wants to kill Nancy off in Season 7 but that would suck. The library is my friend - no TV here. Finally got into Eureka but that took forever. The house is my favorite character. laugh out loud Will check out Samantha Who. Been meaning to start The Good Wife and Breaking Bad.

Already hooked on: The Closer, Damages (William Hurt killed the show in season 2 with horrendous acting), Mad Men (getting old), Smallville (final season Frown), Psych (meh), Gossip Girl, Fringe, True Blood (meh), Supernatural (save the world theme got old after season 2), etc... I'll watch just about anything.

I watched Thor over the weekend.

It was good, but the storyline seemed really simple. It felt like it was missing something. The "love story" felt really empty and not really developed well. Over all, I liked the movie though.

I was really hoping that The Tourist would be better. Don't know if it was the writing and/or lack of chemistry between Angelina and Depp. It just never clicked.

Hello everyone,

In the last few days I watched, "Despicable Me" very, very funny and adorable. I loved the little girl Agnus she was so Girly. I didn't much care for Steve Carell's voice, I couldn't figure out which foreign country he was from and I had to put on the subtitles.

"Ultraviolet" this is the BBC, extremly, boring British version of a vampire series. I say start at episode 1 and go straight to 5, then 6. Many scenes were way too long and the vamires were called "leeches" why? There were many scenes were the cop was being held down by two guys and the next scene he's back in the office, what? I loved were people who just show up on the screen with out any explanation or meaning for being there. Oh the best one was when a vampire is rejuvanated and poof he appears with clothes, all of his clothes even the neck tie Facepalm. 6 hours and I think they only showed 6 vampires, please skip it.

"Shrek Forever After" omg, I just love fat cats. Un memento, un memento, such a fatty boom boom, I love Puss in Boots. I liked all the Shrek movies and this one was perfect and funny.

"Piranha" Awesome and scary. Be warned there is a lot of blood and fish and more blood. Jerry O'Connell is such a jerk and he just makes the movie even better. I just love kids that don't stay home and decide to go fishing, especially in a horror movie. I will buy this one and hopefully there will be a Piranha 2.

Enjoy your movies everyone.

Watched Volunteers (1985) over the weekend. It is an old-ish Tom Hanks and John Candy movie that I have been curious about for quite awhile, but never took the time to watch. It was nice to see Tom Hanks before he really became Tom Hanks - movie star!, but I don't need to see it again.
