In Vista and newer, Snipping Tool > PrtScrn.
Start->All Programs->Accessories->Snipping Tool

and it's not a huge BMP file that you email
you paste the image straight into the email
then click on Picture Tools
then you can modify that picture just like you would in Paint
but you're doing it directly in Outlook, so there's no big attachment
and i really don't think it's a BMP file at that point, since it's in the content of the email
it's pretty farking cool, especially when i was used to screenshots in Paint, save file, insert/attach file, blah blah

I get them from users all the time. They're usually kind enough to crop out the parts of the image that actually give me the information I need to fix a bug, though.
