You might want to check what you posted. there's no service included with the 2025 phone you linked. Phone only.

I and my family have been using Tracfone for our cell service for 20 years, but we're now ready to switch. Ever since Verizon bought the company last year, their system has been VERY glitchy.

Bought one of these for $30 on Walmart. Never set it up with the phone plan and only use it as a WiFi streaming device. As long as you don't set up the sim you can use it as a WiFi device.
This is exactly what I need for crypto transactions only

I tried that. It didn't have anything it could remove
Disable Device Pulse and uninstall or disable the system app Mobile Services Manager after every update, and delete all the crappy games and apps it installed (h/t Reddit)

Going to let someone else answer you who understands the process better than I do.

Yeah. No doubt! I buy these for the 1yr cards alone. They become my spam lines. these are also great for a second emergency line. my 77 year old mother lives in another state and i have one of these sitting on her counter at a loud ring level just in case she loses her phone or has her other phones volume down.
On my backup TracFone I have to use it at least once/month to keep it as an active account. I usually use it with GV while connected to WiFi so it didn't use time and text allotment, but got a notice after 2 months the phone number would be lost if I didn't use it so now I at least send my GV number a text from the phone number to show it is active. I usually do it at the beginning a month when I have associated the account with monthly payments I have to make so to remind me to do the text. I had asked VS on how often it needs to be used and they told me once a month. Since I have done this I haven't had any notices from TF on lost of number.

I do have another phone now with unlimited talk and text (but limited data) I use as the main EDC, but I do carry the TF at times. I don't use the devices as phones much but use them mainly as pocket computers so having more data available helps now. Have GV numberas main number which forwards to both cell phones.
I work mainly outdoors in rural areas so I like having the backup in case the main phone is damaged or lost as cheap insurance and redundancy. I previously bought the Moto G Power 2024 to update the phone and plan extended another year.

Why not just get the Moto G Power 2024 for $10 more at Walmart?

Worth it just to have as a spam line. Hate giving out my personal number all the time and a lot of places don't accept Google Voice viop numbers anymore.

Or you can get a Red Pocket line from eBay for $30. But yeah, for $10 more you get a phone as well, worth it. After a year you can sell the phone for $20-30 on eBay.

Been using these numbers for a few years with little to no usage, and no issues

These phones are basically here to give you 1 year of service the moto g and mtoo g play are complete crap. If you want a good phone you can get a Total Wireless Samsung A37 / Moto G Stylus or something for 40-50 bucks and then transfer the tracfone service to it and you have a $100 year of service + decent phone. (Total wireless and straight talk phones work on tracfone) downside is the A37/stylus wont unlock doing this.
