I am curious. When you fellow SD'ers dine in a Chinese restaurant (no, Panda Express doesn't count!
), what do you order? Typical sweet and sour pork, General Tso's Chicken?

side note: some day i'ma go to a chinese buffet and eat nothing but jell-o. they always have it, at every single one, and i don't think anyone else eats it. i feel sorry for it.
the americanized stuff is great i usually get the general tsos or sesame chicken.
sesame chicken
strawberry chicken
i have no idea which dishes are authentic, but i love the engrish at my local place

As Anthony Bourdain stated, these will never fly in the U.S. with most Americans because they can't get past the mental aspect of it and the texture. Flavor-wise, it's delicious. Even reknown TV host, Richard Zimmern, can't get past the texture of those foods.
z2g, what do you recommend as good 'authentic' dishes?
I have had a lot of very authentic, home cooked Chinese/Cambodian food. While it was good, most wasn't exactly what I'd choose to eat if I was paying for it. Not sure what most of it was even called to find it on a menu and I'm guessing I wouldn't be able to find a lot of it on menus unless I was in the International District.

I'm down with General Tso's chicken and house special spareribs too though, which are more common fare.
