It's swollen a bit, but it has the natural 'curve' of the toe back. Before it was like a log, straight on the sides. Still have a fair amount of pain, especially in the evenings. Sitting at my desk it hurts because of the blood flow to it, but putting it up causes it to fall asleep.

I hope that black stuff is just dead skin. I will be asking the doc about it today. Also need to see about if I am still contagious. DW has developed a black spot on an open wound on her foot. I think it is just a bit of dried blood on a scratch, but she is diabetic so we are going to have her checked out soon just in case.

The black stuff looks like dried blood/scab, but there's probably some dead skin in there, too. It's protecting the new skin growing in beneath it. Just soak it once or twice a day to keep it softened, then give it plenty of fresh air the rest of the time. BTW, how does an injury from coral become contagious?
