Wow bunny, that's pretty cool. I am envious.
Now I go back to work for 14 days straight starting next Thursday and then I am hitting the road again. This time to Arkansas to visit my Dad. Another 2,000 miles round trip but this time it will be straight there and back and I don't have as much time off.

i routinely drove 26 hours straight from des moines, iowa to daytona beach, florida at least twice a year to visit family.

then it switched to 17 hours from Des Moines to Raleigh, North Carolina because they moved. and i've done that on average three times a year for the last 4 years including just two months ago with two cats so the landlord could redo the kitchen and bathroom in my place while i was gone.

Seattle to San Francisco. Would have been an hour less but I got lost in Oakland while trying to get to Alameda.

After busting my butt al day to get ready, I left D.C. at 10pm Thursday night and arrived in Laguna Beach, CA 42 hours later at 1pm Saturday afternoon. The early morning hours Saturday before sunrise were the worst and I kinda started to actually hallucinate, but when the sun came up I was good to go again. Only stopped for gas and food/ drink to go. Best way to stay awake; eat shelled sunflower seeds - but don't eat the shells-, this keeps you alert but after hours of it gives you some bad mouth sores.

Does traffic count? I once did Toronto to NYC in 15 hours, but it's usually only a 9 hour trip. I literally stopped at a full stop on the highway because a boulder came down and blocked the highway. I suppose that's a "break", but it's not like I slept. Two drivers, a few fuel and bathroom stops, but no layover.

Phoenix to Idaho and then back again. About 28 hours, 2 drives, did the sleep swap thing. Funny to see two different towns in the dead of nigh. Salt Lake was like a ghost town but Vegas was completly hopping.

I've done an 18 hour drive, alternating with a friend though. Good luck, man!

I'm halfway through the driving part of this trip. The drive here was a piece of cake but then I spread it over three days instead of two. I left the night before I planned to since I was all packed and ready by late afternoon. Since I was ready I figured I might as well get a head start. I only drove about three hours that night, and then got to within 2 hours of my Dad's house by the next night and only stopped because they are usually sleeping pretty early and I didn't want to get there too late and mess up their schedule.

I have to pull a trailer home so it will be a little slower trip.

26 hours straight, from North Carolina to Nebraska, though I did stop once for a tornado in Kansas.

The tornado (F4) chased me up the Interstate and I was (embarrassingly) crying and praying, completely unwilling to get out and lie down in the ditch like any good, midwestern girl knows she should, with that monster barrelling down. I swore that if God would please just let me make it to the next exit, I would stop there.

I did make it to the next exit, where there was a convenience store that looked like a cinder block (very sturdy). I RAN inside for my life. No one was there - not even a clerk, so I yelled, "Is anyone here?!" From deep inside the store, a little voice said, "We're in the freezer!" So, I joined and that's where we rode out the tornado. It was completely devastating. When I got back into the car, I passed the stadium where the Chiefs (I joked that they were the Chefs, because the sign had been ruined) play. There were downed powerlines and trees just absolutely everywhere.

Now, I'm from Nebraska, so I've seen total tornado devastation, and I was in Grand Island the "Night of the Twisters" when 15 tornadoes hit in one night, but this was a monster of a tornado.

I specifically remember listening to the radio, because the weather was so black, and hearing the weatherman say, "There is an F4 tornado touching down in Lancaster County." And I thought, "Hmm...I wonder where Lancaster County is." And at that exact moment, I heard a ROAR and I looked to my right, and THERE IT WAS...I mean, I could have reached out and touched it. I'll never forget it. I've been close to a lot of tornadoes, but this one and I could have made a baby.
sounds like an afx story except he'd come on here and be 10x as dramatic, angry and bitter about it.

I did Troy to St. Louis last July, then back 2 days later. I had a passenger, but I did all the driving.

Longest was 27 hours driving, awake for 32. Again, I had a passenger, but I did all the driving.

10.5 hours with 3 kids. I'd rather stick forks in my eyes than do it again.
