Well your posts have been very enlightening for me lately. Remember when I had all the problems with the BF from TN? He has ADHD and eats like crap. When we were kids he was a lot better because his mom was very strict about his diet. As a grown man not so much. And somebody told him flaxseed oil was good for the heart so he takes several supplement capsules of that daily. Umm yeah, enough I think to affect certain areas now that you mention it effects estrogen.

My oldest DD starts her college classes this morning. I am very proud of her and excited. But, at the same time nervous.. My 16 year old at the college with people much older is kinda scary. Can't wait to hear how her first day goes Smilie

Well, off to get ready for work. Will try to check in later hug
How did it go? Did she love it?

Quote from mamaoftwins2 :
Wave Actually M2C, my kids start on Thursday..Their school does a staggered day start for K'ers where 4-5 students go in each day and the entire class comes together on Friday....But yeah I am anxious and scared...This morning I did a trial run for packing their lunch bags and snack box...The kids are excited but they are not liking the fact that I cannot walk them to the class everyday...Yes, they are in the same class...
They did stagger start at a school I used to teach at. The kids and teachers all loved it. At least they can walk to class together.

Quote from _Gator_ :
Kids running around CRAZY today. Finally getting them ready for bed, go outside to get something out of the car, come back and they're both eating chocolate granola bars that DH gave them. "But honey, they're loaded with sugar!" DH: "really? Oops!" Where's my are you farking kidding me smilie?!
Teehee men. i swear they're all idiots.

Took the kids to the zoo today. Our county started school this week but Cole's pre-school doesn't start back till after labor day so this week is the PERFECT time to hit up all the fun outings that are usually packed with fieldtrips.

Tomorrow we are stuck at the apt. all day because DH is taking my van in for an estimate on the front end damage I caused when I rear ended a motorcycle that was stopped at a light. Ugh. No one was injured, but I was really shaken up about it. I guess being cooped all day with the kids is a good punishment for me. I clocked the distance to super t tonight and it's 3 miles - too far to make Cole walk.

We almost got rain yesterday. It rained the other side of town but not here.

It is so dry here. The dogwood trees look like they are dying.

hug Thanks tn native for thinking of me. It's been a crazy day. My house was shaking, it felt like a roller coaster. I grabbed the kids and went to our safe spot. We had a bunch of stuff fall, but no real issues. Thank goodness. My oldest thought the house was being attacked by monsters. LMAO Poor kid

Setsail is ok too, she posted on FB.

Next, we have to get ready for the upcoming hurricane Irene this weekend. What a week!

On the baby side, I'm 6 months pregnant now and have an appt with the UVA pediatric heart specialist on Sept 1st. Just trying to keep positive and hope my daughter doesn't have heart issues.

Hope everyone is having fantastic runs at T and enjoying the last days of summer. hug

So I just experienced my first earthquake and hope to never experience one again! I have to say it was a little exciting, but only because I was in my van. If I had been at home, it would have totally freaked me out. People on FB are saying it was strong enough to rattle dishes and rock computers and that sort of thing. 5.8 magnitude. Crazy!!!
hug glad you are okay!

Yep, I have been on FB for years and am addicted. My DH laughs cause I check my FB page from my phone even when I am stopped at a redlight laugh out loud and I have a few folks from SD on my friend list along with family, friends, people I went to HS with, and some other random folks!

Yep, she loved it.. I didn't love it so much when I went to the bookstore today and spent close to 400.00 for books Faint But, she is pretty excited!

And, I agree.. when the kids start back to school is the best time to do things like that.. My kids have always been homeschooled, so we take advantage of the lower crowds when school starts too..

Of course, during the school year here, our zoo will be packed with school groups.. But, I guess probably not the first few weeks of school. It is just too hot for me though. I am ready for fall bounce

I wish we could get a few days of rain too. We have gotten an occasional pop up shower that only lasts a few minutes.. that is all we have seen in weeks!

OH no.. nothing worse than a soggy bunny Wink Send some rain down south to me!

I do agree about being tired of summer.. bring on the cool crisp autumn air!

Glad you are okay too.. Prayers for you and your little one! Can't believe you are already 6 months!

Busy day with errands.. Made it to target.. Great trip except they were out of the bread so I couldn't do the deal with the OM lunch meat.

Finally took the plunge and booked my disney vacation today.. Bought all of our passes.. Between tickets for disney, books for DD, gas for my van, and a few things at the grocery store, I dropped 1600.00 today OMG
I am gonna have a yard sale this weekend even if the heat kills me!

Flugette, Setsail, L2SM, glad you are all ok! Flug, why in the world did they send everyone to the basement? Having lived in SoCal, that's the last place I'd want to be. Evacuate is best bet then 2nd is in a doorway preferably one with a nice strong header.

L2B, we pay for Mini's books as well even though she's just in HS. I've learned to get her books used off Amazon. We were paying $400-$500 in books and they weren't even all new when we went through the school bookstore. I've had great luck with sellers with super fast shipping.

Some dairy got into my diet. I'm suspecting it was the AF ham we had for dinner last night. Poor No-ey has green dipes and streaks of blood too. Frown Hopefully it will leave my system soon as I don't have a big build up of dairy. Poor lil dude!

awwwww poor baby. that sucks.
thrift, does doc think he is lactose intolerant and that's the dairy reaction or is it something else (hormones in non-organic dairy, antibiotics in non-organic dairy, reaction to corn/soy feed etc ?)
if he's lactose intolerant, maybe doc can say if he can be given some lactase as a precautionary thing each day, so that in case something sneaks in like this, he doesn't suffer?
sending prayers and hugs his way.

textbooks: it's an awesome thing these days that one can buy used textbooks off the marketplace as opposed to having to pay the huge markups in hs/college campus bookstores. that being said, we've had great luck with
a) borrowing the books from the library for the entire semester - free bounce
b) renting the books from a textbook rental service, which ends significantly cheaper than buying used. and as a plus, some of the sites let you swap text books you have for ones you need to buy. so it's a good way to get value on used textbooks.

too bad none of these buying/renting options existed when i went to college. oh the money i paid the campus bookstore. TOTAL RACKET.

Yeah, with homeschooling for years, I have had to buy all of my kids books too. I have been very fortunate with getting used books from the bay lots of times.
This time, it just snuck up last minute. I thought she was supposed to get a book allowance from the state in the dual enrollment program, so I was wai ting for that. I checked around, but only 1 book was available from amazon. Sadly, 2 of the books were institutional specific.. The science book alone was 160.00. But, it is a brand new edition and hopefully we will be able to sell it back!

Yeah, we rented one of her English books.. sadly, the other 3 weren't rentable this semester..

oh well, it is done now. Hopefully we will sell some back and get some money back at the end of the semester!

i hate it when publishers do that and teachers fall for it. a few pages or paragraphs different here and there and now it's a new edition with a giant sticker price.

got any place where you can photocopy for free/cheap? that's what we did. just photocopy and a put in a binder. and return the new one unused within the return period.
we found we were losing so much value in selling back used, that for us it was simply not worth it. so in cases where libraries/rental services didn't have it, we took this tack and returned in pristine condition.

DD just started college this week. We ended up getting most of her books from Chegg.com. The others from the college book store. But we still ended up paying a litttle over $400 and that was for rentals. She compared prices at the online stores (amazon, ebay, etc) and Chegg was cheapest for the ones she needed. They send a prepaid label for you to send them back with. I think her most exp. one was Financial accounting for $160. She was very excited to only have to go 3 days a week. Although she has classes one right after the other from 9am-3pm.

Did I mention how quiet it is in the house now!...Almost too quiet. But I think I will get used to it. LOL

Sun is shinning brightly and still no rain. Temp in triple digits!

Dillard's having an additional 30% off today of permanently reduced merchandise. Was hoping for a Coach Bag but alas someone came in yesterday and bought all Coach that was 30% and 50% off. I guess she was afraid someone else would get one! Ranting It's almost my birthday and I wanted one.........Crying

:scratchingmyhead: They didn't go to the basement. They were sent outside. laugh out loud Hubby was far more shook up than I thought he would be. His building is huge and solid (think industrial/military) and during the quake, the floors were actually shaking and rattling. Buildings out here and in DC are not built to withstand earthquakes, and many of the ones in DC are super old. Well, *American* super old, not *European* super old. Wink Anyway, here's hoping that's the one and only for the next 100 years!
