I know about Brylane Homes. Who else has really reasonably priced bedding sets and/or seriously reduced clearances like they do?

DD is looking for a new bedding for her new house.

I thought I saw some bedding being marked down at T. I don't need any, so I really didn't pay attention.

Happy early labor day to everyone....cuz I'm sure I won't be here too much between now and then....

L2S - I am so sorry for your loss Frown hug

Ank - how's the new house coming along?

GG - yay for an appt.-free day!!! Yahoo!

ST - prayers that you get your basement taken care of Pray

m2c - gotta love that kind of stuff...glad their CS was fast and helpful; that is definitely the next best thing laugh out loud

It has been a long couple of weeks here. Just problem after problem but I am still loving the town and neighborhood and how much more space we have....and the dishwasher...Smilie

DH is going into a shift bid phase at work this week and should know his new schedule by Sept. 16th. Basically he could get stuck with a multitude of schedules, some good some bad. Currently he works 10AM-7PM Saturday-Weds. with Thurs. and Fri. off. A lot of the available schedules begin between 11-2PM and end 8.5-9 hrs. later respectively. Some of them are more regular hrs. It will just depend on a lot of factors. *sigh* We did the later shift thing when we were first married and actually liked it...but with kids it's just not nearly as feasible and I don't know what we'll do Frown I just don't even wanna think about it.

In other news, dd is going to start going to this little AM preschool out here this coming Tues. I love her to death but she got so used to having someone to play with all day with my niece here that now that she isn't here she depends on me for all entertainment all. day. long. And while I love her dearly I can't get much done and we have a LOT more to do right now than usual. We finally have this huge playroom for her to be in and she won't play by herself at all!! This community is so small that this is pretty much where all the kids her age are during the day. She will have fun. I must say it is nice to have at least a small stockpile of school supplies in this unexpected situation Teehee

So I took my youngest to get her haircut. She wanted short hair. I told the hairstyle list to just cut it to her shoulders, because I wasn't ready for short hair Smilie but somehow it ended up shorter then what I was expecting. EEK! I do realize that the hair will shrink when it is dried then when it's wet, but oh well. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) She Loves it. I think it's cute, but I will miss her long hair. I'm afraid her waves will be gone forever.

Very cute, I hope you get used to the short hair! I don't like long, messy hair on girls (of any age really), and I think she looks just adorable!

Hi ladies- Hope everyone is doing well and getting lots of T shopping trips in before the latest MQ expire. I wanted to send a quick update on my daughter.

We found out last Thursday that she had passed away in utero, just shy of 25 weeks. I was admitted into L&D on Friday and had her a little after midnight on Saturday morning. She was 13 ounces and looked perfect. We don't know exactly what caused her to pass, but she had Downs Syndrome, a resolved Cystic Hygroma, and potentially 2 heart defects. We are very sad and miss Hope Elizabeth.

I was able to go home before the hurricane, but we ended up losing power for 3 days. Setsail has been a great friend and sent some great resources to help me deal with this. hug

I'm still recovering from childbirth, but hope to be out and about by this weekend. I am in desperate need of shopping to keep my mind off everything going on.

Hugs to everyone who has supported me through these difficult and crazy months. It's hard to believe it's only been 3 months since this all started.

Just bought a big A Beka lot on eBay for my oldest. She's set for the year- geometry, govt, history, English and Biology. I have no idea why the seller had a buy it now for $49 for the texts. quizzes and answer keys but it was my lucky day.

gt, the duvet cover I used had fasteners in the corners to clip the comforter in so it didn't move around.
How old is your oldest? 10th grade?

I am still looking for an inexpensive US History for my DS.. I wanted Bob Jones or Abeka.. but haven't found anything in my price range yet.

Also, gonna look around for some kind of curriculum to start working with my youngest.. we already do phonics stuff and she recognizes some letters.. She knows colors, shapes, etc.. but, we need to work on recognizing numbers too. It has been awhile and I can't remember what I used to teach the others at the beginning..
The 11 year age gap caused me to forget a few things..

I am going to look into HOP, or SIng, Spell, Read, and Write as Gt suggested... There was another one I remember.. learning to read in 60 lessons or something to that effect..

Need to research some stuff! I am excited to have a little one to work with again. I heart homeschooling the kids when they were young.. when they hit HS age, not so much shake head I was looking at field trips online tonight too Smilie

Baby is sick, I think I have a cold, barely shopped though I continually intend to get out, but my coupons are finally organized. Okay, they *were* and then I went and printed some from coupons.com and its going to be shambles here again.

I don't know if there's much else to report.
Congrats on the fancy lady machine!!!! Big Grin

morning all other creatures of the friendly kind. Blowkiss it's fridayyyyyyyy! Whee

off to shower. 1.5 hour commute to PT. 2 hours of PT. 1.5 hour commute back. (should be 25 mins each way, but with crutches et al, i am slooooow).

So cute. She looks more mature now. They always look older with a shorter haircut.

TB - that's a cute haircut. *I* would not be able to do it though. DH keeps saying that maybe we should cut our 3 y.o. hair and I just can't bring myself to do it!

Slick - Hide My dd has long messy hair... lol. It would probably drive you bonkers!

Thanks for all the well wishes. The house is coming along, though I think we are stalled a bit in doing some details. I need to hem up the kids curtains, find the rest of our books for the bookshelves in the living room, and get something for the bathrooms in the way of shelving. Between $$ and just time and willpower, not as much has been accomplished lately! But, it's getting there. Smilie Oh, we haven't quite finished some painting either. We were a bit shocked that the livingroom and hallway walls took a good 3-4 coats to cover.

GG - I hope your day goes well and smooth and with as little pain as possible. hug

Poor Miss M has a fever still. She's sleeping now - been cuddly and kind of blah all morning. She kept sitting with me and snuggling me. heart

My 3 year old has messy hair most days too. She hates barrettes and pony tails.. and, we are trying to let the bangs grow so she is in that "hair in your eyes stage".. but, I have a hard time cutting it too cause I don't want her to look more grown up Frown

good morning! another day of cleaning, unpacking, repacking, throwing away, recycling, etc. i think today we should mop a third of the basement w/ bleach and water and then we can bring back down a lot of the totes that didn't get wet.

the bins i've been buying are too tall for the home depot plastic shelving so will have to shop around this wknd.

also need to buy a new dehumidifier. any recommendations? the last one was a highly rated whirlpool from costco which ended up very noisy and conked out after 2-3 yrs. my neighbor bought a danby which was highly rated and hers is still working but the ratings this yr were not good.

I've never used a duvet cover. What keeps the comforter for sliding around inside and getting all bunched up?

The bedding that DD is replacing is a comforter, so if it were dark or heavy enough she could use a duvet and use the old comforter inside.
i always use a duvet cover and it never slides around. right now i have a target fieldcrest white woven cotton blanket that is longer than the duvet cover, so i folded it over inside and it's been behaving.

i think the key is that it's the right size so the corners and edges match up and that the comforter material isn't really slippery like satin. i think friction keeps it in place but something like satin could slide around.

sorry you are still in so much pain. i know it's scary, but sometimes you need to work thru the pain to get to the other side, just like pt. i hope that is the case w/ you. i know the physical effort this wknd will probably bring more pain from the exertion and resulting fatigue and long unused muscles, but i hope that maybe working thru some of it will actually lessen the pain in the long run.

Good morning my peeps! Gotta get dressed and head to town soon. I'm picking up a transfer plate for the guy who is planning to buy our car this afternoon. DH is coming home a little early and we are heading about an hour away to meet him with it. Meeting him because he has to return a rental car and that's the closest place to do that. So, let's hope all goes well and he buys it. He is coming from NY, we have been completely honest as to everything we know about the car, and I sent him about 100 pictures (literally) including underneath. So, I think it's so should go well. Oh, it's a 40 year old, kind of classic station wagon, with a mint condition interior and very good condition exterior. He's not just coming all this way to buy some old used car.shake head
=========================================
While we are that far, I think we might go into the next town -- where the Target is and run into Menards (a home store, like Home Depot or Lowes, only better). Their ad says they have 25% off clearance appliances. Might check it out for DD. She needs a stove and fridge.

Don't know that I will go to Target at all. I guess I should scan the wiki and deals and see if there is anything I can't miss.

Gotta come home and throw some chairs in the van and pack a change of clothes. Going to Minnesota tomorrow morning and staying the night. Going to a riverblast to listen to some bands, including the band of a kid my husband trained. Traditional music -- bluegrass, folk. I've been dieting again so pray that there is nasty food that I don't want.laugh out loud It's going to be one of those grab and eat or eat out with the others that are going (3 other couples). Makes it really hard to diet. I got so excited about planning another week of fishing that I forgot all about this weekend.

I hope everybody has something fun planned for the weekend -- or just a nice relaxing time at home.

I think they all want to cut it all off at some time or another. Then they grow it right back out. Or they don't, then become a teenager and blame you because they don't have long hair.LMAO

Looks like TM4D is becoming a lady of leisure. The baby goes off to preschool... the dishwasher does the dishes...

Shift change, well, I was going to say, adjust your and her schedule to his. So what if you kid is up all night and sleeps all day if that is YOUR schedule. But then you went and screwed that up with that AM preschool.laugh out loud

How old is your son? Have you seen/read the series of books "A History of US". Joy something... Hakim (gotta love Google). Good chance you can find them at the library and I know you can find them used one at a time if you don't want to spring for the set. I'd bet about anything you could find everything you wanted to go with them online -- lesson plans, tests/quizzes, etc.

Reading in 60 Easy Lessons -- I remember just exactly what you are talking about but I don't remember the exact title either.

Numbers -- just grab some cheap workbooks and refrigerator magnets. If you do the SSRW, I'm pretty sure it teaches numbers too. I can't swear to that but I think so.
