so i'm upstairs in the bathroom and i hear, *is the egg carton recyclable?* so i open the door and ask, *is it cardboard or styrofoam? cardboard is recycled, styrofoam is not.* i hear, *it says it's made of 100% post-consumer recycled material.* me- *both cardboard and styrofoam could be recycled. is it cardboard or styrofoam?* i hear- *i don't know.*
wtf? seriously, you don't know the difference between cardboard and styrofoam? i go downstairs and take a look. it's cardboard. some inane question that i can no longer remember is asked but i remember my answer, which was, *i can't tell what it is if i can't see it.* (i was upstairs.) silence. but obviously, some other people can see it and still can't tell what it is. aye meshugana!

you are missing out.
you really could have a hilarious stand-up comedy act, or atleast a very successful book with this material. ready made material right there for the milking.
now i must ask: what's a #5 recyclable?
I liked the Neshaminy mall too...but it is way out of my route, DH and the kids woukd turn restless if i make them wait while we go to nj. I might hit couple of targets tomorrow.
Hope you find the sump pump soon. I am planning to do some T shopping tomorrow.. Atleast i printed and organized those coupons.
I really gained some weight, need to work out on that..all in the ab, thighs and back...none of summer wear is fitting right and i desperately need some clothes, what is better than those great coupons...
I am up to to make an India call, to our bank, the concerning officer would be at work only at 10 am.. So waiting for him to turn up... In mean time, i completely cleaned the whole kitchen cabinets, reorganising, changed the liner, threw away lots of stuffs. Cleaned bathrooms, showered and still waiting, now only minutes to go.
didn't take my own advice. went out in the afternoon and it was starting to rain. dropped off #5 plastic recyclables at whole foods, bought nasoya tofu w/ wfq and ip, kettle chips w/ ip even though it wasn't on sale for bff's bday, then supermarket, then target where they didn't have one bag of frozen peas of any brand whatsoever and barely any frozen veggies, so then i had to go to SNS to get the frozen peas. all in the rain but thank goodness it was never heavy.
now it's raining pretty hard and i hear the thunder. and there is water in my sump pump pit but i don't think the pump has started to run yet. humidity is way to high in my basement. i definitely need to buy a dehumidifier. of course there is none at the target near me.
sorry gg.
thank you so much kay! basement is going very slow. what i really want to do is look for free and cheap clothes but i need to try them on. store was closing when i grabbed the fatq white jeans and black jeans so i didn't try them on and they are both kinda big. i got them at the neshaminy store. i went back the next day b/c they had extra 30 off clearance that never happens at my stores but didn't get lucky. and all the black jeans had disappeared by the time i got back
i have some toys from july toy clearance i am going to return b/c some don't have very good reviews and others i just have too much of. if you'd like, you can see what i have b4 i return them. i think i have gift receipts for most if not all and i'm sure i can get them. if you are interested, i can email you what i will be returning and what the prices are.

while you search for a dehumidifier do this:
get some calcium carbonate from your hardware store and put it in the basement in plastic tubs. it will suck up the moisture and any odor.
also, see if your store carries silica gel dessicant packs. if not, google and there are several stores that specialize in just selling those packs in different sizes. get em and put em all around your basement. you might not even need a dehumidifier after that. the silica gel dessicant packets are the ones you see in electronics boxes, inside purses etc (you know those little white packets that say silica gel, do not eat" ? that's them. they're very effective).
tip for those in older homes:
save the dessicant packs from your electronics, purses, shoe boxes etc. put them in your closets and kitchen cabinets.
result? no insects in your grains/crackers etc. no wool eating bugs in your sweaters, blankets etc. the packets make the air so dry, the insects aren't attracted there.

#5plastics-
Reusable microwaveable ware; kitchenware; yogurt containers; margarine tubs; microwaveable disposable take-away containers; disposable cups; plates.
http://en.wikipedia.or
i have the old blue ikea recyclables bin (i think it's grey now) and i put all the #5 plastics in there like yoghurt containers, some oj container caps, etc. when i'm going to whole foods, there is a container between the exit double doors for #5 plastics. we have to check plastics for #1 and #2 anyway so it's no big deal to do #5 also since i go to whole foods for deals.
in my state, you really don't get any money for recyclables except scrap metal and the place is so far away, the gas is not really worth it. people do steal copper from abandoned buildings (some people were just caught a few wks ago) and new construction. b/c we are near nys, about half or more of our bottled water and soda is marked for nickel back deposits. we collect them and give them to my in-laws who live in ny since they buy soda for when they have guests over and regularly redeem their bottle deposits.
my county has one of the highest rates of recycling in my state. i think we won an award and got money recently.
every 1st saturday and 3rd monday, a company has a contract to collect electronics, irons, telephones, flourescent light bulbs, etc. i went there once or twice a yr, but now you can drop off cfl's at home depot or lowes and my township now collects computer stuff so i don't have to drive so far anymore. about 4x/yr we have hazardous waste collection points in different parts of the county. i've dropped off oven cleaner, lighter fluid and done mercury thermometer exchange, gasoline container exchange (would you believe the new one i got actually leaks more than the old one?)
we actually have very little garbage and if i composted it would be even less.
i was very disappointed a few yrs ago in miami. we usually buy a case of bottled water on vacay (we almost always use refillable bottles at home but it's hard to do on vacay) and take the bottles to be recycled b4 we leave. there was a *recycling center* between the hotel and the supermarket b4 we went to the airport. we saved all the bottles and go there. you dump everything over the edge into a huge garbage container below. sigh!

Meanwhile, my coffee and a good book sound like fun!!!

so i'm upstairs in the bathroom and i hear, *is the egg carton recyclable?* .....
I will leave you all with dd's 1st-day-'o-school pics.....sans her backpack because I forgot to have her put it on for the pics....

your dd is the cutest little imp! and her outfit coordinated w/ the kitchen cabinets and rug
In the meantime, I'm counting down to my next fishing trip.... 16 days.
I thought maybe it was because it's too close to the picture window and all the dogs moving around in here. But I moved it out into the yard and they still ignored it but would occasionally come to my window box so I moved it back up here. I even tried making the syrup red once -- the feeder is copper with red flowers so not a lot of red on it.
I had a hard time finding a decent dehumidifier. I don't even think my target ever had any them. I looked at reviews online and most of them are horrible. I ended up picking up a GE one at walmart. I think i got the largest one they had. Those usually are better because they remove more pints per 24 hour period. I just hooked a hose to mine and let it drain into the the sump pump. It works well, but I have only had it for 3 months.
I'm stalking a pool at target. the 18x52" one. dang thing is still full price - according to the scanner. Plus this store is super organized, so I know if it was supposed to be clearance they would have marked it. I showed my youngest dd the pool and she says "mommy I will drowned in that." she is right, she can't swim yet so she would have to wear a lifevest. I'm not even sure why I want that large of a pool, I don't even take care of my little 30 inch pool very well.
