I'm on the fence about the shots. I am going to get the venom shots for sure because that is definitely life threatening - the environmental stuff is more of a nuisance right now - but if they are going to be poking me with needles, maybe I should just go ahead and go all the way with it.
At any rate - just trying to catch up before my crazy week begins.
GG - I'm not a big fan of those kinds of meds either but you have been in such pain that it might be worth investigating. They have to warn you about anything that could possibly happen -- even if there is almost no chance of it happening. If you decide to try it, make sure your husband pays close attention to your moods. And if he tells you it's messing you up, listen to him!

I personally don't remember seeing anything I just "had to have" when I looked at this weeks sale. I am gonna use some RC I have from last week and that is probably it..

Had a wonderful day yesterday.. DH threw me a surprise birthday party. Lots of family and friends from church were there to celebrate with me.. Ended up eating way too much food, some yummy cake, and received some really nice gifts including starbucks GC, target GC, red lobster GC, and some other things.. Plus, DH got me a new Keurig

So I asked this senior specialist about side effects 5 times over 15 mins.
He named three: sleepiness (not an issue cos I'm supposed to take it at night and am an insomniac normally); constipation (only in the elderly he said, not an issue for someone as young as you said he); urine retention (again, only in the elderly, and those with bladder issues, not in someone as young and healthy as you, said he).

he told me it's a very safe drug, studied in great detail over many decades.
ok.
uncertain still about filling it, i go to the pharmacy to fill it. they don't have the rx yet.

i wait 20 mins.
the doctor who wrote it is not registered with the insurance.

pharmacy says we're closing for the week. it'll have to be next week.

i got to thinking, hmmm, so many delays and obstacles... is the universe trying to tell me something?
so then i come home without the rx and start researching the med.
and ummmm, looooooooooooooong list of side effects, with every page cautioning that it has very serious side effects; that physicians stopped using it because of that; that it dramatically increases suicidal thoughts in people and suicide risk; that it causes hallucinations, anxiety, jitteriness, uncontrollable anger, difficulty breathing, sexual dysfunction, thyroid dysfunction, kidney damage.... on and on and on.
i didn't need to read the whole list before my already skeptical, hesitant and anti-pharma organic self started sounding the fire alarms loudly.
which gets me wondering....
if this med is supposed to make you sleepy, and depress parasympathetic nervous system signals... well, guess what? alcohol does the exact same thing.
couldn't i just drink a couple of glasses of wine, or a glass of cognac on days the pain is bad, and get through the months of pain till the nerves heal?
it would be a whole lot more delicious, without the crazy list of side effects.
at least i would enjoy my recovery. and i wouldn't want to committ suicide. and i'd be able to trust my thoughts. and i wouldn't have any sexual dysfunctions. and i'd be able to pee and poop, which is always a plus if you want to be part of this thread.
and I wouldn't be an alcoholic... i mean i used to go out 4 nights a week before i got hurt and have 3-4 (some nights more) cocktails each time. no biggie.
M2C and Tootsie... I said cocktails. please back me up here.
being a lush is way better than being on doped up on prescriptions, no?

My oldest turned 15 today, youngest turns 4 on Tuesday so it's a busy week around here. Next weekend, we're going to Hershey Park for our birthday celebration.
