Little apple dumplings. They are really easy but I am on vacation and don't have the recipe with me. I know I gave it to somebody here though, maybe they still have.

I know you use two apples, peeled, cored, and cut into eighths and two cans of crescent rolls and you roll up each piece of apple.

I think its --- Melt together 1/2 cup butter, 1-1/2 cups sugar, 1 tbs. cinnamon pour it over them and then pour a can or Mt. Dew (NOT diet) over it. Bake at 350 -- seems like they take 40 - 50 minutes.

I HATE Mt. Dew but like these.

Thanks! YEEEAAAHHHH for you guys! It will be here before you know it!

Yes, it was nasty today. Forecast said 30 - 35 gusting to 45 but I really think they have been stronger than that. Obviously, we weren't on the lake fishing today. We went for a drive up and around, made a big circle just checking things out, hitting antique stores, etc. But yesterday, oh yesterday was perfect. I cannot believe it was 80 degrees in mid Minnesota at the end of September. Shorts and tank top out on the boat all day. Going to be chilly tomorrow -- high of 60 -- but the winds are supposed to die down and it's says sunny so we are planning to fish all day.

Congrats on the new toy! I've been looking for a new car for a few months now, but still haven't found the perfect one. I want an almost new, used car, with low mileage and in pretty perfect condition. I live in a smaller area and choices are limited, so the search continues. I'd really love a new crossover of some type, but those are mid $30,000 range and I'm looking to keep it much lower. I've looked at so many cars online, and then when I see them in person they just don't meet my criteria.

I had a very narrow criteria for this one....needed to be in our price range and we had pretty much narrowed it down to either the 5 or we'd also looked into the Ford Freestyle, some of which also get a little better gas mileage than a traditional van. I really liked the Mazda 5 but even any of the used ones that were in our price range were 200+ mi. away and still higher than what I really wanted to pay ideally so I figured we'd just wait 'til spring and start looking again. Then I was making my Sunday morning Wags run and drove by one of the lots in town and saw it sitting there....it hadn't showed up in all of my internet searches! Ended up being perfect. I didn't even know that we'd find one in the price range we wanted! The Freestyle was a lot easier to find but I don't think I'd have been as happy with it.

hola chicas! i'm at the bigE (eastern states exposition) for a day and a half. it's basically the new england states fair. after 5pm m-th it's $6, (reg admission is $15) so we decided to come spend an extra evening so we wouldn't be rushed trying to see everything in one day. dh was hoping they would start selling discount admission b4 5pm but when we got here at 4:45, people were waiting around and most of the ticket booths didn't open till the stroke of 5.

we wanted to go to the yvonne elliman concert tonite and then see cheap trick tomorrow but she got rained out. saw draft horse judging instead. percherons, belgians and clydesdales. amazing how well-trained the horses are and so beautiful. can see how it takes a lot of time, money and effort. also learned that only the 2 horses closest to the wagon have a strap behind their butt so they can back the wagon up which was one of the things they were judged on. learn something new every day.

healthy eating has gone out the window this wknd. we tried fried koolaid, basically cherry or tropical punch flavored batter dropped into the fryer w/ an ice cream scoop and dusted/dumped w/ more koolaid drink mix. we had fried clams, the biggest clam strips i'd ever seen but also the toughest, i think from the rhode island state house. lobster roll from the maine state house, basically just claw meat on a hot dog roll, not even mayo which we had the last time we were here yrs ago drool. we also split a maine baked potato which was disappointing, b/c for $5 i think they could have put real cheese (maybe from vermont), fresh chives and real bacon bits instead of processed cheese sauce, dehydrated chives and fake bacon, but i'm expecting too much from a typical rip-off american concession stand i guess. i forget which state house has pumpkin ravioli in browned sage butter for 8.95 which may be my lunch or dinner tomorrow so am i really expecting too much? also thinking to have some new england clam chowder tomorrow but we'll see. the shrimp and corn bisque sounded good too.

ST, my personal favorite is a Roma apple. I much prefer the flavor of that one, and the skin isn't too tough, nor is the flesh mealy. :yummy Got a bunch from my grocery store the other day, and love having them for a snack.
the last 2yrs we've gone apple picking very late in the season, one time we went the last day of the season, halloween. they've only had granny smith and rome beauty for picking. is that the same as roma? i know there are hundreds of varieties of apples.

too thin in any case. set a deal alert on underarmour if you need the serious kind. if you are just looking to stock up the inexpensive kind, around presidents day they'll be on clearance at target. i remember sil getting a good deal for my nephews when we were at her 2nd home that wknd.

been meaning to say, sprint sent me a postcard for a new home phone service they're starting:

19.99 a month. free local and long distance.
they send you a little black box with antenna. you connect your home phone to that, and get your connection off sprint's 3G network.
plus it is eligible for corporate discounts if you are on a discount plan. :faint
and you can port your number.

i will be reviewing our plan with comcast this weekend to see when the contract ends and how much i would pay them for 2 services only. i think i'm going to switch.
this sounds very interesting. i'll bet they will also bundle it w/ cellphone service at some point. i haven't switched to comcast triple play b/c my neighbor always has phone outages even when we don't have internet outages which also happen periodically. i know when the wrong answering machine picks up so i call her cellphone, but she doesn't know when her phone service goes out.

Had a phenomenal run tonight, makes me almost scared to go again. Big Grin But I have several more of the Nivea body wash coupons to use up before they expire, so I must go back tomorrow. I would love one of those produce cats or bakery cats that people are getting. drool
supposedly michelle obama loves shopping at target and that was one of the things she couldn't really do after dh became president, iirc.

i bought my one bottle w/ my one mq and when i went to put it away and dig out a refill bottle of that expensive handsoap we got free 2 yrs ago that i can't remember the name of, i realized i have enough bodywash for probably the next 4-5 yrs or even more. i need to either start giving some away or stop buying!

wanna hear a gross story?

so i was taking a shower a few days ago and had my eyes closed and stepped on something.....a stink bug! which of course sprayed b/c i'd stepped on it. yuck! then on tuesday i saw another stink bug in the bathroom by the exhaust fan when i was drying off but it disappeared by the time i'd finished. so i was taking a shower wed nite after scrubbing the toilets and all of a sudden there is a big giant brown bug flying around in the shower! eek! it landed in the bath tub and started walking around while i tried to avoid it and finish my shower but i'd swear it was after me so i just got out. and cranked up the hot water all the way but it was able to take it and then hid under the shower curtain.

can't believe 2 stink bugs have joined me in the shower in less than a wk! and they are huge! ick! ick! ick!

is that because you stink and they feel at home with you, or because you smell so good they want to hide their stinkiness by hanging out near you? laugh out loud

the sprint thing is called Sprint Phone Connect, in case anyone here wants to do it.
they're likely moving to bundling services. i LIKE competition.

trying to work up the courage to go to T tomorrow. first trip in 9 months. it's far away, and I still can't drive myself, so I'll have to change multiple buses. the thought of doing that with crutches and then walking around the store with crutches and then carrying a heavy bag back with crutches is daunting because I know I'll be in a lot of pain after. and depressing. going out on crutches and looking all frumpy and sad is just really upsetting me these days. but i really want to do the 7th gen hand wash deal. so i'm busy psyching myself tonight. laugh out loud

As soon as I read the apple discussion, I remembered you sharing that recipe with us. I am determined to try it this year. We can't wait for the Honeycrisp apples. We heart those! Fall is one thing I will really miss about living in MI. There are few you-pick farms in FL and they are mostly for oranges.

That stinks, praying 10/16 comes fast for you and 11/1 as well Big Grin The wait is always stinky!

My DH's schedule is changing from 7:30-4:00 on that day. 10/16 must be a popular day laugh out loud I don't know if I ever reported the end to that story....shift bid happened and somehow, miraculously, he got this lovely schedule. He will be home every evening Yahoo! He still will have Thurs/Fri off instead of Sat/Sun but I am OK with that part....not ideal but this will be way better than what it is now or what it could have been for sure. I tell ya, it was divine intervention....out of 11 different schedules with 3-6 slots to be filled for each there was only 1 that started @ 7:30....all the rest were either 6-2:30 or 2:30-11 and one 11:00-8PM too. With his ranking it was just a miracle. Sooooo thankful!

I think the 5 was Mazda's continuation after the MPV though they overlapped a yr. or two?? It is a bit smaller, though I can't believe how big it feels inside for how small it is outside. Glad to know someone else likes their Mazda! It is really zippy and handles more like a car but yet doesn't feel quite like driving a car and has tons of the van-like features. Perfecto Smilie I have never gotten to research a car and really pick out the one that was best for us/me so this is pure heaven. I am sooooo short so the van, though wonderful, always seemed so big and hard to maneuver to me. Such a lovely little solution this is.

Thanks!! hug
Yeah, its a good thing October is a crazy busy month for us, time will go by very quickly. And congrats to your hubby for getting such a great schedule! It is SO nice when they can be home that early. nod

I had to google roma apples, 'cause you were making me doubt myself! Come to find out, roma and rome beauty are the same, just 2 different names.

The Nivea coupons must have been in the cheap/free paper, cause I have a TON of them. All my friends and family love them, though, so its not a problem getting rid of them. Oh, and they do great at my yard sales, too. Big Grin

Weather forecast still says sunny and 60 with 5 - 10 winds. The winds are down. Still a little breezier than I like but it's not white capping out there anyway. But there's no sun. It's just ick blah gray and it looks cold. It's 9:00 and I am NOT on the lake yet, I'm sitting on my butt in my nightgown watching the fireplace, the lake, and my laptop. Actually, DH is still asleep. He'd better get up pretty soon or that last cream horn may disappear. (There were 2 left this morning, one for each of us)

Today's big decision --- regular jeans or flannel lined jeans? If it's really 60 and sunny regular are fine. If there's not going to be sun, 60 with a breeze on the water... I may want flannel.

Geez, of all the things to miss while gone from home, you know what I miss? Not my daughter (talk to her daily), not my house, Heidi a little, not my bed... Nope, I miss my coffee pot. My less than 3 minutes to a full pot of good coffee Bunn coffee maker. Geez, this cheap thing here takes forever -- literally 20+ minutes to brew a pot of mediocre coffee.

Crap, winds have picked up a little, I see white caps.

Put me down for some Honey crisp apples! Yummy!

I feel like I need a refresher course in what to buy. Any deals on diapers I am missing? My bff had her little girl this week, left the hospital yesterday. Cutest little thing! I have been trying to send coupons for Similac and diapers to my SIL for Trevor, but haven't kept up on the deals, so I can't tell her where to use them. New pics up on Trevor's Caring Bridge, he is so darn handsome!

Homecoming football game tonight, DS has been playing a lot of JV, only goes in for Varsity for a few plays, but he is happy. Trusting his knee more, and wears his brace religously thank goodness! He is having a blast.
