I'm like Gator, once I read the apple dumpling topic (& Mt Dew, especially), I remembered. Here's the recipe I copied:

Easy Little Apple Dumplings

2 Large Granny Smith apples peeled, cored, sliced into eighths.
2 Cans (8) Crescent Rolls
2 Sticks of Butter
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
2 Tbs. Cinnamon
1 Can (12 oz.) Mt. Dew (not diet)

Wrap each piece of apple in one crescent roll. Lay in 9 x 13 pan

Melt butter and mix in cinnamon and sugar. Spoon over the rolls. Pour the can of Mt. Dew over the whole thing.

Bake at 325 for 45 minutes
Let stand 15 - 20 minutes

I did make them. And they were good! My big boy loves apple stuff (pie, dumplings, etc.) He also likes naner puddin. He ate 3/4 of the one I made earlier this week. shake head

Thanks everyone for the apple recipes! I made a run to T tonight just to stock up on baking goods and use some expiring coupons. I'm sooo excited for tomorrow's apple picking festivites. It's going to be around 60 and sunny, so perfect weather for apple picking. Big Grin

Lachie- I love, love, love Pioneer Woman. I keep forgetting to DVR her show, she's now on Food Network.

I had a very narrow criteria for this one....needed to be in our price range and we had pretty much narrowed it down to either the 5 or we'd also looked into the Ford Freestyle, some of which also get a little better gas mileage than a traditional van. I really liked the Mazda 5 but even any of the used ones that were in our price range were 200+ mi. away and still higher than what I really wanted to pay ideally so I figured we'd just wait 'til spring and start looking again. Then I was making my Sunday morning Wags run and drove by one of the lots in town and saw it sitting there....it hadn't showed up in all of my internet searches! Ended up being perfect. I didn't even know that we'd find one in the price range we wanted! The Freestyle was a lot easier to find but I don't think I'd have been as happy with it.
Trust me, you didn't want the Freestyle. Dh gets the same fuel economy in his *technically 08 Taurus X but same car* that I get in my Honda Odyssey plus getting kids in and out of the third row seat- pita. After 6 months, I wanted it to burn a short painful death. The car, I mean. lol

the sprint thing is called Sprint Phone Connect, in case anyone here wants to do it.
they're likely moving to bundling services. i LIKE competition.

trying to work up the courage to go to T tomorrow. first trip in 9 months. it's far away, and I still can't drive myself, so I'll have to change multiple buses. the thought of doing that with crutches and then walking around the store with crutches and then carrying a heavy bag back with crutches is daunting because I know I'll be in a lot of pain after. and depressing. going out on crutches and looking all frumpy and sad is just really upsetting me these days. but i really want to do the 7th gen hand wash deal. so i'm busy psyching myself tonight.
hug Hope you have a good trip to T!
I know Sprint is trying to win customers and keep costs down but I don't understand why they keep cutting bennies for existing customers while adding ways to get MORE customers on an overloaded 3G network. Dh and I both received our "Premier is gone, thanks for nothing" letters from Sprint this week. Can you tell?

Weather forecast still says sunny and 60 with 5 - 10 winds. The winds are down. Still a little breezier than I like but it's not white capping out there anyway. But there's no sun. It's just ick blah gray and it looks cold. It's 9:00 and I am NOT on the lake yet, I'm sitting on my butt in my nightgown watching the fireplace, the lake, and my laptop. Actually, DH is still asleep. He'd better get up pretty soon or that last cream horn may disappear. (There were 2 left this morning, one for each of us)

Crap, winds have picked up a little, I see white caps.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation!

Put me down for some Honey crisp apples! Yummy!

I feel like I need a refresher course in what to buy. Any deals on diapers I am missing? My bff had her little girl this week, left the hospital yesterday. Cutest little thing! I have been trying to send coupons for Similac and diapers to my SIL for Trevor, but haven't kept up on the deals, so I can't tell her where to use them. New pics up on Trevor's Caring Bridge, he is so darn handsome!

Homecoming football game tonight, DS has been playing a lot of JV, only goes in for Varsity for a few plays, but he is happy. Trusting his knee more, and wears his brace religously thank goodness! He is having a blast.
How is Trevor doing?

ST, have fun at the Expo! I think my oldest and I are heading to the state fair next week. She entered a handmade stuffed animal in the arts & crafts area and she wants to see it on display.
L2Save, have fun at the pumpkin patch! I'm going the opposite direction. After a quick yard sale, think we're going to Howl-O-Scream before it gets too packed later in October.

I could be wrong but I'm thinking the "upgraded" Taurus X got worse gas mileage than the original Freestyle Scratchhead I just kind of recall from looking at the fuel ratings. You think they'd try to make it better not worse! Why I don't know. I still don't think I would have liked the Freestyle as much....would much rather have the sliding doors that we have on the 5 and the Freestyle seemed so much larger, which is kind of what I wanted to get away from because I'm so short. The ease of the 3rd row is awesome for this one too...I definitely wouldn't want to have kids back there all the time (at least in car seats...my more-than-3.5yo dd is still rear-facing); it's just a pretty small space. But for our needs to be able to easily flip it up every now and again to haul cousins, etc. is great but then to have the additional cargo space when the seats aren't in use is also nice. Wonderful versatility. With only one kid right now and probably not more than two (and not planning on more than even dd anytime soon....) it was perfect. I think the 3rd row on the Freestyle would have been harder for me to get up and down all the time just 'cause everything's bigger.

Odyssey was my dream van when we thought we'd just replace our old minivan w/another regular minivan. Then I started looking into known issues, etc. and found a lot of transmission problems at the 100,000-110,000 mi. mark Frown And with the mileage range we knew we'd probably looking in just didn't want to take a chance. Then found the 5 and knew that'd be a better option anyway. But that puzzled me with the Odyssey because so many ppl love them! Part of it is that we would have had to get a lower model yr. so that might have been some of it.

'06 is newer than we originally wanted to go....just so much cheaper tax/tags wise to have something a bit older (at least as far as IA goes) but at least I'll only have to pay the highest amt. for one yr. and then it will start going down. We've never carried collision on any of our old vehicles, which were all '00 and beyond up until now, and I was surprised at how little it cost for how much peace of mind I now have laugh out loud DH has never been in an accident I don't think and I have only been in one nearly 8 yrs. ago...a guy ran a red and hit me...but as soon I say that......knock on wood.

Ahhhhhhhh I suppose I should get going with my day. Have a lovely weekend everybody!!

I have to go to T today for some supplies for work next week. I'm not even looking forward to it. Seems like the deals haven't been that great lately. My Glade stockpile is completely gone. EEK! I guess I'll go get what I need and take a pass through the clearance and call it a day. Pretty sad when you can't get excited about a T run.

just shoot me now and get me out of my computer problems I've been dealing with since 8:34 central this morning...

terrible when I don't know squat about computers.

OpenCloud AV was the fake, but now IE just freezes, I can't delete a window (or session) and end up unplugging the whole computer and rebooting Covereyes

I've also got a funky process... just numbers that I can't kill.

So there's an imaginary Ralph? laugh out loud OK!
