I wonder if TN got her computer working yet?

I stopped by Walgreens yesterday to pick up one paper and they were all sold out. Unbelievable. Couponers have gone crazy.
Was crazy here too. Local Facebook group someone said they were at Dollar Tree when it opened and couldn't even get a paper because they had presold (held) them for people who had phoned in on Saturday! She said people were walking out with cart fulls of them, that is nuts. I pretty much just get my delivered paper and a few from relatives anymore. It's too much of a sport for me and I don't even get up early enough to go hunt a paper.

So we have a change jar that we throw our loose change into each day, and today I decide to count and empty it. Last time we counted it was July 30 (about 2mo ago). Today's change jar had $50 in change and $155 in various giftcards (food and Disney). That is another $205 added to our disney fund without even really trying! We still have a LONG way to go and a SHORT time to get ther. LOL Our Disney trip is end of May 2012! DH and I have noticed , money has been tight this last few months with school starting and kids activities, that we have even been spending our change..gasp!! So now that we are settled into the school year a little more, it is time to get back to business and only spend bills, NO change!
Great way to save!
We save our change too, and every few months we have over $50 and get a Starbucks card. I think it's my turn from the batch in there now, as DH got the last one. I never thought of throwing actual gift cards in there, that is a neat idea!

The giftcards are a great way to help us save. I have a few of the Hardee's gc's that I got from mycokerewards. My DD won a free years subscription to Netflix shortly after I had already signed up for it, so we agreed that I would take that $15 netflix fee and buy a disney GC with it each month for the year(much harder to spend a GC when there isn't any disney stores around us..so easy save), and anytime I have O at T or get a few T GC's saved up, I buy a disney or restaraunt gc and put it in the jar. I have also amassed a few disney and gas gc's from walgreens. We recently received $150 in visa GC's from cell phone rebates, which were only good till Dec 2011 (couldn't save them for our trip in 2012), so I took them to walgreens and turned them in disney gc's. It is amazing all the ways to save without actually tapping into your everyday budget.

glad I could be of help! enjoy!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of a christmas basket with home-made goodies. that's what I've been planning do for christmas this year. except i haven't managed to do any preserving cos of pain, so I figured I would do canisters of recipe mixes:

soup
cookies
cakes
rice pilaf
couscous
fajita rub
etc....

and attach recipe cards to them. all organic of course.
haven't thought it through fully, but I might make em thematic... so one would be like fajita rub, black bean mix etc... and then one could be all cookies and so forth. or maybe I'll do it as a meal in a basket. appetizer, entree, side dish, dessert.

habanero hot sauce sounds fab! check out dave's gourmet hurtin' habanero sauces and hurtin' habanero honey mustard some time. we LOVE them both. might give your DH ideas for the future.

apples, we get premade sheets of phyllo or puff pastry. toss cut apples in lemon juice, brown sugar and cinnamon. put into pastry strips and fold over , then crimp edges, to make rectangular hand pies. brush with a melted sugar and butter mixture. bake in oven.

yummy hand pies!
in summer we do a similar thing with strawberries or blueberries. it's much like homemade pop tarts for breakfast. i pick whole wheat pastry and so it's even healthier.
What a great idea! So what kind of theme can I do with habanero hot sauce and apple butter? LMAO

somebody ripped some of the q's out of one of the papers i bought from walgreens.Mad so far they took the .50 colgate wisp ruining the optic white q below it and the .75/2 nature valley granola bar q's. i wasn't going to use those q's but still, that was stealing! and then i paid for a paper that somebody stole stuff out of.

Wow That's a crazy trip!

Have fun at Disney, I can't wait to go back. I hear this is a good time of year to go.

On to apple news, I made this [allrecipes.com] today and it is GOOD! I doubled the apples and added some cinnamon and fresh grated nutmeg to the batter. My playgroup will be happy tomorrow! woot

The apple pie is cooling for tonight and we're off to Chick-fil-a for my son's school fundraiser. I love that their coupons expire, but they will take them forever. I have a huge pile and use at least 3 each time. Big Grin

I do the same thing.. I have tossed many GC in my target deals.. I have a drawer that I put them into when I get them.. We have been saving for 6 months or so. Worked some overtime and bought my tickets over a month ago.. Worked last weekend to cover the cost of the house we are renting.. And then, I checked my GC drawer the other night and I have 800.00 in Visas to help cover meals Faint Plus, a few restaurant GC we got when we cashed in our points on our visa debit card.

Have a wonderful time at Disney.

Our last trip in 2010, we stayed for 9nights 10days. It was soo much fun, In May we will be going for about the same amount of time again. However, the cost is much higher due to the fact that I have to pay for my DS15 to go with the school band to perform in the main street parade. So I have to pay for separate room and travel expenses, plus some other expenses that we would normal not have or would be included in our stay amount. But definately a once in a lifetime experience for him (he plays the Tuba). No matter the cost, I will NOT pass up going to go watch him. Told my DH that although we have never charged a vacation on our CC, that this one is definately charge worthy, if need be. So save, save, save is what I am doing.
This will likely be our last big vacation until 2015. Why? lol Because that is the year that my DS will graduate HS, DD will graduate College, DH & I will celebrate our 20th anniversary and we will officially pay our last mortgage payment early in 2015!!! So deemed this to be enough to cause a major vacation celebration. Plans are to do a Disney cruise and land package for 2 weeks at least. And it will take me that long to save enough to go again. LOL

method and 7th gen folks, learned a stunning thing:

both contain SLS/SLES (sodium laurel sulfate/sodium laureth sulfate). in the case of method it is hidden in the description. in the case of 7th gen, it is plainly written but at the back of the label that is affixed to the bottle shake head so you'd have to peel off the label to read it. who does that in store? yep, no one.

and given the research on links to pregnancy impacts, birth defects, eyesight, impact on children etc, i am going to be looking for alternatives. i am sad. here i thought i had found something great. Sadwalk

one of the posters on the Method thread likes biokleen a lot. it has hefty eco-cred online and lots of great reviews.

anyone here tried the biokleen dish detergent, handwash, or laundry detergent? thanks!

apple butter... you could do a breakfast themed basket....
include a canister of a homemade scone mix
a canister of some homemade muffin mix or maybe some breakfast bread with which you'd have apple butter.
maybe a homemade pancake mix.
add in some dried fruit that folks can use for baking.
home made cinnamon chips (or the cinnamon cereal recipe that someone here posted)

habanero sauce... ahh there are so many possibilities with that.
the obvious one of course is to do a tex mex basket.
fajita rub.
black beans.
home made taco shells.
home made tortilla chips.
maybe put it all in a molcajete (a mexican mortar and pestle used for making guacamole, made of special lava rock).
if it's someone local, you could put in a couple of avocados and some limes in there. or include a bottle of pasteurized lime juice.
a margarita mix if your recipients drink.
and then of course include recipes for each thing. Big Grin

we use our habanero sauce for so much - hash browns, chicken, shrimp and beef marinades, baked sweet potatoes etc.
it's awesome!

kudos on the loveliness of no mortgage in 2015, plus the anniversary and the graduations!
well done! Applause

no disney trip here either, but we use gcs to save, too. i have a box where i stash all gcs so they're easy to find. any cards we have that we won't use, we sell off on ebay or plastic jungle and put the money towards savings. the ones we will/can use for things we need, we turn to all the time.

My ds#2 flushed a hot wheels car in the toilet and DH is scaring me with lots of plumbing storires, and i serious dont want to use that toilet.. any ideas how to deal with it???

going busy for me with my SIL at my home with little infant (she is back from hospital and from her home to my home).. I have constant worl with SIL is recuperating. she is having tough time since her delivery with worst episiotomy, later UTI, so we thought it would be better if she comes back here, so i could take care of her. so far good, but it is too tiring for me, but no complains though, i love girl babies and this little baby is making me more & more consious that we dont have a little daughter :Crying2even i am kind of spending little time on computers.

I have used that some time back, i think some citrus flavored laundry detergent, and i didn't buy the next time since we have to go to whole foods all the time to buy. we switched to clorox green works, do you think it has SLS/SLES?
I was regretting yesterday when i kind of missed the method deal, since only 20% off with the gift certificate and i didn't buy it..

Also, do you know guys the sb bogo takes the whole $9.99 (on higher priced item)..looks like a nice deal Wink

Anyone doing the Keurig deal at Office Depot? Just ordered my KCups for the day. Suppose to get it back in rewards in a couple of months. Hoping for some good rebate deals at that time.
I haven't ordered anything yet. I might get a couple of those carts and some batteries.
The rewards come around the first of the year. There should be some nice tax software FAR deals then. Rewards can also be used for shipping and postage stamps.
You can also increase the rewards with the ink recycling. OD takes anything. All they ever do is count them.
I think Staples is better in many ways... but we don't have a Staples here.

When's your birthday? Mine is the 8th and I got a free Red Robin burger, free Bonefish Grill bang bang shrimp, free Famous Dave's entree, but that one requires another entree purchase. I think I saw some other little freebies in various emails, always fun to see what arrives. Oh, today I got my free Starbucks postcard, and already had a venti quad macchiato, couldn't wait to use that one.
