I am kinda in shock. lol Of course we live in a very small town that has its own company. Not any other options for internet. We do not use our home phone but it is included in the package. Comes with 16meg internet and DVR service. Have to pay an extra $21 for cable in kids rooms (i know, but they are teens and well would probably drive me crazy without it. lol). This is an increase of about $80 and now I am wondering if I haven't been paying too much to begin with. I think I need to re-evaluate all of our monthly expenses to see what we can downsize on. We already live on a pretty tight budget. Plus w/price of gas going up...uggh!

I dropped cable a couple of years ago. Went to using an antenna instead. I get the major networks and then some of them have sub-channels. So I get a total of 12 channels. I bought a DVR so that I can tape the shows I like and then can watch them when I want. I now just have phone and internet for at total of $63 a month. I then get Netflix for $8 per month mainly for my kids. I would cancel phone, but I like having a phone at the house so my DD can call me if something happens while I am making a quick run for the store.

I really need to tighten up my budget. Where I work, they let a bunch of people go today. Including my boss. Frown I think I am safe till at least next January. In the mean time I need to work extra hard at paying the credit cards off. I'm doing pretty good at it. I had $18,000 on them when I divorced in Aug 2010 and I am down to $4000. Once they are done, I will work on paying off my vehicle.

Also on my to do list is to find me a sugar daddy!!! lol

Toasted almond iced coffee - in the actual DD stores, or in the grocery store? If its at their store, I just might have to stop there this afternoon. That sounds yummy! yummy

This weather is SO beautiful! Enjoyed a lovely Chick-Fil-A picnic lunch at the park with my girls and one of my daughter's classmates. Love spending time out in the sunshine! I can almost feel my immune system getting a reboot. laugh out loud

Stopped at Wags for the first time in ages - they actually had most of what I wanted to get, except the Belvita. I couldn't even find a shelf space for them, though, so I'm not sure they ever had them. Now to find more of my poligrip qs and get some more of that.
at the store. i think next time i should ask for more syrup. i love toasted almond ice cream bars but dd coffee never really tastes like it.

was low 40's and drizzly here today. really chilly and somewhat damp. i'm wearing a turtleneck today to stay cozy.

that's where i saw it! here! somebody was passing around q's they didn't want at the library today and one was a belvita q and i couldn't remember where i saw it on sale.

Trying to keep non-deal or OT out of the deal thread. So I am posting this rant about reps here.....I may also write it on the bathroom wall laugh out loud

Don't waste your 10 daily reps people. Right now I am struggling with a letter to my former doctor, to give him his reps. I am almost done but I keep crying and stopping. How do you thank a person for saving your life? The doctor was my physiatrist but his thinking out of the box thought the problem was "in your head" physically.

He sent me to have tests done to evaluate the inside my head theory. I received a call the day before we were moving to come into the neurologist office. The day we were moving I left the movers to go into his office, the neurologist my dr had sent me to see not my first doctor to find out the news. When you don't go into an exam room, but you get to go into the dr's office where his family photo's are etc....first sign the news is not going to be good....so take all of their candy out of the candy jar!

The rest of the story happened from the new state where we moved, but my doctor that decided this was in my head doesn't know he saved my life. Even the neurologist he sent me to see suggested taking the last two MRI's and compare those to save money and time. I refused, told him my doctor wanted a new one done. Out of all the tests ordered that MRI was the one where the tumor showed up. I have a seizure disorder so I get MRI's often, so often that I was now on the every 10 year plan. Had my physiatrist not stepped in and done what he did I would have died. When they did operate, less than one year after the original MRI there were now 3 tumors. I need to rep this doctor. I think it is important for him to know what he did for me. I think it is important to thank the people that make the Target thread so wonderful with a pat on the back. Don't waste your 10 reps you get every day ok?

PS On my way home from the hospital (and orders to not leave the house OMG) I did sneak in a fast trip to Target! Does that mean I am addicted? I just happen to have brought coupons with me to the hospital?

The Belvita is on sale for $2.99, receive a $2 RR. My stores have a bunch of them, but we didn't get the newspaper Q. I was lucky to find 2 q's at Walmart that the coupon fairy dropped off. I'm amazed I even found them because they were left on the very top shelf. I was standing on the edge of my cart trying to find more up there. lol

Ya know that was our main reason for having a landline. We wanted the kids to have a phone to call for help in case of emergency. Well now that they are older (15 &19) and have their own cellphones, the last phone they would ever think of using would be the landline one. laugh out loud They would just automatically grab their cells.

Nice job on the debt payments!woot That is wonderful. Thankfully it seems the 'rough' time is behind us for awhile (hopefully). DH is usually on partial unemployment about this time of the year due to little work at his plant. But they are so busy right now he is working OT! Haven't seen that on a check in a LONG TIME! However, after the last 3yrs or so of being poor(er), it makes me very cautious about what to spend the extra money on. Most goes to savings for when the bottom falls out again. LOL

The cable bill may not have been quite so bad, but we are paying $212 mo. for DS braces for the next 20mo. Just seems like we can't stay on budget these days!

Good luck with the sugar daddy. Wink

laugh out loud I hear ya on the cell phones.. No one at our house ever used the landline. We got rid of it about 3 years ago.... Of course, we still pay a small fortune between the cell phones, dish/dvr, and internet.. all together it runs about 335.00 a month EEK!

Weather was wonderful here today.. 78 degress and so breezy.. went out and treated myself to a pedicure.. took both my girls with me. Got the oldest a pedi cause prom is tomorrow.. got the little one's nails painted.. ended up costing a small fortune, but I guess worth the quality time Smilie then since I was in the spending mood, we picked up the prom dress from the alteration shop and went out for pizza.. left the guys at home to make themselves dinner.. it was a great time!

Can't believe my DD has her senior prom tomorrow. She is really sweet, we compromised on alot of the expenses.. Of course, she wanted the fancy dress, shoes, nails, hair, limo, etc.. but, in the end, I got the dress she wanted.. took her for a pedi.. bought some nails she wanted that she will do her self and her friend is doing her hair and makeup for a small fee.. The limo will be a honda instead LMAO but she will look beautiful and hopefully have a wonderful night!

Teenbean, I guess I'm out of the loop on the DVR thing. I thought you had to pay a monthly fee with those things, like TIVo, etc. I guess I'm wrong? I only have antenna TV too, and would like to be able to record shows like you're talking about. What kind of DVR did you get? Are they expensive? And you don't need cable TV? Thanks for your help!

I have this [walmart.com]. I got it on sale for $224. It really works like a VCR without having to change tapes. You program it by going into the menu and entering the date and time and channel of your recording. You can select daily, M-F, or the day of the week. You can also name your recording before it happens so when your really behind you know what shows you haven't watched. That way when I'm a couple of weeks behind on Castle I can wait till Saturday morning and have myself a mini marathon. You can also burn the shows to DVD when you are done, but I have never tried that.

It has tuner in it, so it works best with an antenna. I never tried it with cable, but I think it would work best with cable that does not require a cable box, like basic.

There only bad thing about it is if the network changes the time of the show, then you end of recording a different show.

hug Definitely know what you mean about the "office" vs the "exam room". We had a conference or two in there when I was 9 months pregnant with our first child and my husband had just been diagnosed with testicular cancer. Thank God for doctors who take a personal interest and care in their patients, and insist on getting things taken care of!

And good morning to everyone here! Getting ready for a morning of shopping with my youngest. So far the sun is shining, but I think it might start raining a little later.

Hope you all have a great Friday!

afternoon y'all!

so i went to the declutter club/coupon meeting at the library last night and it was very interesting.

i missed the first few minutes but there was a couple who'd gotten into couponing in the last yr or so, i think from watching EC. Teehee they were very excited about how much they were saving and that some more expensive brand name products they could now afford worked better than generic or cheapy products. they'd made a huge handout, she would do a chart of what she bought and her savings, etc, but hadn't gotten into following shopping blogs or forums yet.

i did tell the group about many websites inc hcw coupon database, ss, coupons.com, lwrc, afc, moneysavingmom, fw, sd and bzzagent. inc the library program coordinator, there was 6 of us and i think everyone was in their 50's and 60's except for me.
