morning.

saw battleship yesterday. was wondering why hasbro was in the opening credits until halfway thru when they they used a tactic that was just like the game. ohhhhh!bulb title was also in reference to the USS Missouri which is an iowa class battleship. funny thing about the movie, i've been to pretty much all the places in the movie. i've been to hawaii, been to the buddha statue in hong kong that gets blown up, seen the bank building that gets hit, driven past the pentagon and, would you believe, been on the USS Missouri when it was in San Francisco one summer when i was going to UC Berkeley.

after the movie, dh said it was like independence day. another patriotic aliens invade the earth movie. i thought it was ok. dh said that some people said the cgi graphics or something was not supposed to be good but i thought it was fine. actually, i'm surprised they didn't make this movie in 3D. that would have been awesome! didn't know rihanna was going to be in the movie. dh said it was funny how her baseball cap never comes off in the movie, even when she has to abandon ship and jump into water. she doesn't do much talking in the movie but i thought she didn't do a bad job. wish the main character hadn't been such an asshole though. dunno how somebody who never applies himself and makes poor decisions all the time somehow saves the world. but i think that's a typical american male fantasy. you see it in movies like green hornet, green lantern, 21 jump st, etc. losers end up the heroes and the good guy either dies or becomes the villain.

i would give this movie 2 stars and recommend seeing it in the theatre for scenery and special effects. i was sitting in the last row and it was still good.

Drinking lots of coffee here today too Smilie

Sorry Ank and SDNewby about the stomach troubles at your house.. I think I hate stomach bugs more than just about any other illness vomit Sending healthy wishes to you both!

Flugette- Praying surgery goes well for your dad!

We have been passing the cold/sinus junk around for weeks.. My DH was nice enough to get up early and drive my DS to the ENT specialist today. I took him to the doc yesterday and then for xrays, so I was glad he offered to help out today.. Anyway, doc said his sinuses were really bad.. started on a stronger antibiotic and nose spray.. next step will be steroids Frown I hoping this does the trick.
I have tried to be good about the lysol/clorox and wiping things down, but it seems to go from one kid to the next. I decided today that my DS may be the common link. He has basically had this sinus infection for 2 months and it gets a little better, but not totally gone. He is a teen and doens't wash his hands near enough. I told him today that he will wash his hands every time he leaves the bathroom, coughs, blows his nose, enters the kitchen, etc.. He is also the one who has the job of unloading the dishwasher normally.. maybe that is why everyone keeps getting sickbulb I think I am gonna keep him out of the kitchen for awhile, and realize sanitize my entire house tomorrow when I am off from work.. Sick and tired of all the sickness around here!!

Anyway, countdown 2 days until my DD graduates woot found out today that move in day for college is August 11th OMG means she has less than 3 months here Frown

If anyone knows of any Ensure deals, can they please let me know. My father-in-law was recently diagnosed with blood cancer and had to drink 4 cans a day.
**snip**
I know it's been a while since you asked but I just finally decided to come on over and hang out here Big Grin
A bunch of ensure flavors were clearanced out at CVS. I don't think the flavors had been posted but there was talk of it in the CVS clearance thread. Someone also mentioned that some organizations provide assistance/discount to low income/seniors to buy these types of supplements.

Although I can't imagine what your family is going through...I feel you on these expensive supplements...I am trying to find deals on pediasure (wish I had known about the sidekicks protein/fiber clearance Wags/CVS earlier) because I have a feeling the doc is going to diagnose DS2 w/ "failure to thrive". Okay, 17th percentile is not bad (they say below 5%) but he is almost 2.5 and still wears 18mo clothing. His 10 mo. old lil bro is almost as big as him and he is so frail when he gets sick I just want to hold him all the time (and that will definitely not help the middle child syndrome laugh out loud)

anyway.. i need to take another shower..all this vomit is making me nauseous.

and can I say I really want to go to T. Everyone is taking a nap but I bet they will all wake up when I am ready to sneak out Ninja

Have a wonderful day everyone Wave

I feel you on the "failure to thrive" thing hug. My now 7 month old was really jaundiced when born at 6 lb 11 oz, had her on a light blanket at home and constant sunlight, but still at one month she was only at 7 lb 6 oz Frown. Ped diagnosed it as breastfeeding jaundice, and it eventually cleared up with a little formula supplementing, but after that slow start she was always 1st percentile in weight every month and was termed "failure to thrive". Made me, as a first time mom, feel horrible! But at 6 months she chunked up a bit and is now a whopping 5th percentile weight, woohoo woot!! And now she is almost walking, so what she lacked in weight she is making up for in movement lol.

The whole purpose of my comment though.... Sometimes, my local grocer will double coupons up to $2.00, usually to compete with Harris Teeter when they do Super Doubles or Triples. Using the $2.00 Pediasure coupon, I can usually get the Pediasure 4 packs for about $2-$2.50 each. If you can't find any more clearanced ones, I can pick some up for you and maybe meet up the next time I visit my dad in NoVA (I live in Virginia Beach area) or even mail them. Just let me know, I'm always willing to help a fellow momma out Smilie

Has anyone used the red FoodSaver appliance yet? I charged mine for 24 hours as per the instructions - on May 5. When I went back to use it today, it had not held the charge. Was wondering if anyone else has had problems with this unit.

I just found out that my niece lost her husband and 2 children in a house fire last night, while she was at work. Her husband was 31, daughter 7 and son was just 2. She struggled as a single mother for years and had tough times. She just recently married her long time boyfriend, and was finally happy to settle down and live her life. So sad to hear.

hug I'm so sorry to read that. P&PT for your niece and your family.

Flugette, more p&pt for your dad. hug

Hope all the sick kiddos are getting better.

ST, we saw "Battleship" and it wasn't bad, better than some movies but then we liked "Independence Day". Definitely a little predictable but still decent movie. Kind of funny, we lived in WA State when the MO was there at the Bremerton shipyard, and I remember all the arguing about moving it to Hawaii. Bremerton really wanted it to be a museum ship on their waterfront. It moved to Hawaii in 1998, and we moved to Hawaii in 2000.
