saw *oz the great and powerful*. pretty good movie. there was a smattering of applause at the end, not as much as for *cars 2* but decent. there were a few times during the movie that people burst into laughter, mostly from the wry humor. dh was pleasantly surprised considering the mixed reviews. saw it in 3D which i recommend b/c of all the special effects and the very colorful scenery.

movie is rated pg and i don't recommend it for the very young b/c it might be a little scary for them. the movie is also kind of long, 130 minutes, so they might not be able to sit thru it, but adults wouldn't notice the passage of time. i didn't look at my watch once which i do when a movie drags. otherwise it's for all ages, i think the special effects and sophisticated humor keeps it from being just a kiddie movie. could be a good first date movie, not too deep, not too violent, not too much sex, everyone should have seen the first movie already so they should understand the storyline.

my dh is an alien. we are going to a flower show tomorrow. dh asked if it was partially outside. ummmm, it's still winter, nothing is green and blooming outside right now, not even the crocuses. we are expecting 5-8in of snow tomorrow.

oh and another story i should have told last month. i was looking at the supermarket circular and commented how all the instore baked goods were cherry. dh asks if it's b/c they are in season. Confused no, it's all canned cherries. he didn't get why there were so many baked goods w/ cherries even when i gave a huge hint, *i cannot tell a lie.* mind you, dh was born here so he has no excuse. i said didn't you learn this stuff in elementary school??? clueless!

The snow is already sticking here in MD and prediction was for wintry mix til 9am. Yikes I think we'll get 8". DH is in the gov and they are closed to the public/non essential ppl..so probably no work for him (he is night shift so we are sure but never know) and definitely no daycare for the kids there. Id be overjoyed but I've got a stomach bug so I was hoping to rest....BS ...I would have gone to WM T and Giant Hide

ST...I've gotta ask about the cherry baked goods...for the record I was born and raised in France..benn here since 2010 so maybe I should know this by now laugh out loud

so you wouldn't know b/c this is something that is taught in elementary school. it's a story that's told to inspire young children to be as honest as the first president of the united states. that when his father asked who chopped down the cherry tree, he admitted it, saying - *i cannot tell a lie.* since his birthday is in february, supermarkets try to capitalize on the holiday by selling cherry baked goods b/c the cherry tree is associated w/ george washington.

you're welcome! maybe you should prepare your 6 yr old by telling her there will be some fire and explosions (in addition to the fireworks) towards the end of the movie, but it was done on purpose by the wizard as a trick. they are a bit startling so really young kids might start crying. but nothing too scary.

so this makes us more than one who were not born and raised here ....

I would think that they are trying to get rid of the canned cherries before springtime and the new crop because nobody would be buying them. To me this winter kind of food. But who knows Dontknow

Another not born here, raised here some from 4-12, then out of the country again until college. So I guess I fit in the middle somewhere.

here's a review of a new product i posted elsewhere that i thought somebody might find of interest here-

thought i'd review the thai green curry campbell's skillet sauce. i used about a lb of boneless, skinless chicken thighs b/c we like that instead of chicken breast. also a giant organic red pepper, a medium onion and a little rehydrated shittake mushroom i had leftover, and there was plenty of sauce for it all over rice. can't imagine how saucy it would have been w/ just the chicken which the instructions called for. wish i'd had something green like broccoli, green beans or snow peas like they have in the restaurants b/c it wasn't very pretty even though the red pepper was colorful. still not colorful enough.

tasted ok, mildly spicy so if your kids do not like spicy at all they won't like it. there is a tiny little coconut flavor to it. dh doesn't like coconut but he didn't say anything about that and he said it tasted pretty good so i guess it's really not that noticeable. for .50 it was worth it to eat something different. i wouldn't pay 2.00 for it though, which was the sale price b4 .75ip doubled b/c just for sauce thats expensive.

Hi TCC peeps!!

Hey I have a quick travel question...First off I have never flown before and there is a good chance that I will need to fly to Orlando in May. Scared yet excited!! Now I need to know where the cheapest place is to check for flights??? We have always taken the long car ride there and back when on vacation but this trip there will not be enough time to drive so to the air I must go!!

I have obviously checked the logical places expedia, orbitz, kayak, priceline and maybe a couple others. Is there some place that you all know of that might be cheaper?
BTW...I would probably be flying out of KC.

Thanks a bunch for your help!

Question for some of you NoVA TCC peeps...

Do you know of any local places that prepare the fruit baskets like Edible Arrangements and would be able to deliver today? Long story short, my dad lost his balance and fell Wed night and broke three ribs, so he will be on sick leave from work for a bit to rest up while the pain subsides. The good thing is that my dad is super active for 57, plays on 3 softball leagues every season, so the damage wasn't as bad as the doctors said it could have been. I feel horrible about this, because he lives alone and I am 3-4 hours away and won't be able to make it up there until next week to help him out (if Mr stubborn will even accept my help, haha). Doesn't help I have a dipshit brother that cares more about concerts than helping my dad (bro is 24, college grad, has no job by choice, can drive, and lives 30 mins from my dad with my mom... so no excuse in my book for not helping). Anywho, I wanted to send a fruit basket to my dad as a small "pick-me-up", but I just wanted to see if there were any places cheaper than Edible Arrangements (since some of their baskets are hella expen$ive!). Any information on places or advice would be greatly appreciated hug.

Thanks in advance! Really appreciate it Smilie

You could call one of his local grocery stores and have them make a fruit basket and deliver it... I'm sure it would be much, much cheaper than Edible Arrangements. Most groceries deliver both flower arrangements and groceries, so I can't imagine you couldn't work something out with them. Just an idea. Hope he gets to feeling better.

heart I'm here! I've popped in a few times in the last month but the chat seems to be on a lull phase lately. Baby boy is getting so big, I added a recent picture of him. He's a marvelous baby, I can't describe it any other way. nod

Make it 4. Born and raised outside of the USA, but have been living here for over 9 years.

I can't wait till the flu season is over... Have a 4 month old in the house and we have been trying to stay out of shopping areas. I am itching for some Target shopping...
