Does anyone have any recommendations for shows that are like lost?
Say what you want about the ending plot, but the pacing of the story was nice, and the characters were well developed, and ABC threw a lot of money at it.
Six Feet Under didn't "Lost suck." That's a new phrase Im trying out to describe anything that has a glorious beginning, good middle, and just god-awful end.

You know, I'm starting to get the feeling you didn't care too much for the way the show ended.

The Sopranos had the worst ending ever.

I know you are kidding. But everyone...their stories ended already. Eko died and is done for waaaay earlier. He wasn't part of Jacks "gang" and Michael is still on the island. A whisper...this was explained on the Jimmy Kimmel Lost segment. Walt probably just lived his life. He wasn't of much significance to the group either....yes he was....ok screw it...I don't know what happened to him. Mad

...
Yeah, I was j/k, but I wouldn't be surprised if Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton bitched about the lack of color in the series finale. EEK!

I haven't watched Kimmel's "Lost" show yet, but will Hulu it sometime this week, hopefully.

And the following may piss of many "Lost" fans, but as a fan of both this show and "24", I can't help but compare the 2 series' finales, esp. given the proximity in time of each other ("Lost" airing on Sun. night and "24" on Mon. night). Basically, "24" kicked the pants off "Lost" in terms of ending. "Lost" let me a little lost and confused. "24" left me breathless and speechless (until now).

That's a @#43ing understatement. They gave LOST a piss poor sendoff, and the questions were an insult to this show. And yes, I'm still f#@$3ing angry.

Yep all that crap, The Numbers, The Dharma Initiative http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PPCCcXarkc, the button, the whole cat and mouse game with the others all meant nothing in the end.

I don't understand the point in throwing so much into it when they would just kill them off in the end...

If you don't plan to explain things - and just want to develop the characters - then don't add all these mysteries! They just kept adding and adding to it.
The button/Desmond made sense to add because he had to do what he did to become resistant to the electromagnetism. Then he could drain the "Light".

But the nifty hieroglyphics when they didn't enter the numbers (not to mention the hieroglyphics all over the island) and all that were just not necessary in the end.

So we found out how The Black Rock ended up in the middle of the island. We found out where Richard came from and why he didn't age. We found out what the whispers are. We found out who MIB was, but not his name (they couldn't do a "My name is Noah Bennet" thing).
Bah - it just feels like in all the commercials for this season they told us we would get answers. And the answers they gave us weren't really that big. They were nice...

I don't know. I just like more closure than "They all died".

The story about Richard and the Black Rock was really the only satisfying explanation all season IMO. Even finding out that MIB is the smoke monster wasn't that satisfying, because they didn't explain what the smoke monster was, just who it was. Explaining away the mythical happenings, as mythical happenings with no explanations, is a copout. They spent 6 seasons making up quasi scientific explanations for all kind of stuff and then the answers ended up being 'just because".

Just this morning as I was walking in to work I was wondering what is the smoke monster?

Is it mechanical? It sure sounds mechanical... What the heck is it?
I figured we wouldn't get an answer to that, and I guess I'm okay with it - I mean, how would they explain that, with the mechanical sounds and all. Oh well.

And we know what the statue is/was, and the foot thing. We just don't know how it got there.
Or where "Mother" came from - and where she got this brilliant idea to protect the Light.

Smokey is not mechanical, it's a supernatural being. As for the light and the 'mother', I really hated that episode where they explained Jacob and the smoke monster or at least try to. Thought it was a complete waste of an episode, provided useless answers and more questions.

I agree. The only reason why they had that episode was to introduce the light but I think it would have been just as out of nowhere if Jacob just introduced it to Jack himself.
