What would you do if you came home from work and your bathroom looked liked this?

Bathroom after BG: EEK!

Tomorrow I break out the hazmat suit and real mask and the rest of the walls are coming down.

Looks much better already!

If you are keeping the pink tub you can always paint it white with 'Tough as Tile' epoxy.

We're just going to drop a tub liner in it for now...it's a nice heavy cast iron tub, we don't know if we want to keep it..but everyone says to because it holds value...so we'll put an insert for now and maybe re-glaze it someday. Dontknow

LMAO My fiance just shakes his head, he has no clue wtf I am doing when he gets home everynight something has changed...although I'm pretty wiped out at night, but the adrenaline from doing all this is crazy..Whee

This should be done hopefully sunday ( although not the way I want right now..It's killing me not to pull the tile floor up..LMAO..i'll do that after everything else is done.)..then off to rip baseboards off 6 rooms and hallway, 4 more rugs to be pulled up and the hall rug. Then paint the whole interior...and the HWD floors are going to be installed as soon as I'm done, but have to be done and ready for the floors in less then 2 weeks..Faint

I can do it..Strong

EEK! Did he live here before? Rofl2

We're just doing a simple update, nothing too fancy yet..maybe a few years down the road. This was more to get the mold out. I have so much more to do, I can't do the bath the way I'd want it right now.

But when I redo the Master bath, it's going to be friggin sweet..Whee

Wouldn't it be easier to remove the toilet and sink/cabinet than work around them?

Nah, we're not replacing that wall...thankfully. And we're going to leave the toilet and sink for now.

The toilet is easy to remove and fairly inexpensive to put back. 2 bolt nuts and a wax ring that can be purchased for 3-7 bucks. It just looks like its alot of work to work around the toilet. Or are you scared to look at that part of the floor! ;P

Hey BG, Are you planning on using something like Red Guard on the greenboard? It's really relatively cheap insurance against leaks.. Only like $50 or so for a container that would be enough to do your walls around your shower.

Basically, it will waterproof the greenboard, so when water seeps through the grout (it will eventually), you'll be ok..

Greenboard in itself is not waterproof.

i'm not sure i would put plastic behind the greenboard.. your vapor barrier is supposed to go on top of the greenboard then your mud or concrete board then your tile.. otherwise your greenboard will get moldy and crumble apart from the moisture
