How much will I receive from my settlement? OT encouraged

SO I was in a car accident a few years back, and yada yada, I have a permanent injury to my hip flexor area. It inhibits my ability to exercise the way I used to, it hurts after sex Mad !!!! and sometimes it pops/clicks when I walk. It is not debilitating. I did not lose an arm or become deformed from this. I am not in a wheelchair and I didn't lose my job over this injury. However, its a pain in the ass and I'm upset that it can never go away.

So after 1/3 of it goes to legal fees, lets make bets on how much I get out of it.

Before it was deemed permanent I was offered 18k (Or about that) before the 1/3 was taken out. I'll update this if I ever get money.
And no, I am not loaning any of you money! laugh out loud

(If anyone remembers my thread about what you would do with a large amount of money if you won it, that is what this was about)

You want a truthful answer - PT doesn't mean squat when it comes to a settlement, neither does a cortisone shot, neither does determining it is permanent. You were not operated on, you did not suffer any permanent scars, you were not disfigured, etc., etc., etc., which ups the ante for a settlement.

The 18k offered - minus from that the 1/3 Lawyer's fees - minus from that also the "Costs" - and with that I mean the costs for getting all the doctor's records needed, every phone call you made to the Lawyer, every Fax you sent to the Lawyer, every communication you had with the Lawyer, and every single thing he billed for - including postage - those are the "Costs" which will also be deducted beyond the 1/3 - and then that will be your actual settlement cost that you will receive. So minus the 1/3 - you are down to $12,060 - and you can figure in at minimal another 10% for Costs (and I'm being generous going so low) - so your actual "take" may be $10,854 by the time all is said and done.

Now had you asked for a copy of every single doctor report, and documented this entire situation - you could have settled this yourself - and saved yourself $7,146 simply by being organized, and doing it all yourself - as there is a formula that is followed for all of this - and there is a book that one can purchase that you can actually do it yourself. Including negotiating with the Insurance Company and writing the letters to explain how negligent their "party was" and how terribly this has affected your life, yada, yada - which is basically what the Attorney has done - and then you proceed to tell them what you figure the value of all of this is worth - and the negotiations begin - and you volley back and forth - as you always go higher - as an Attorney would - until you reach what you know/feel is where they would have come to - to begin with - based on the formula for your Medical Bills vs the formula.

So I say you end up with somewhere around $10k to $11k in your pocket after expenses paid out.

tl-dr - she gets $10k to $11k after expenses paid out
why is it "party was" Confused

Didn't see it mentioned anywhere...

Did your health insurance pay for any of your treatment? If so, they get first dibs at any of your settlement.

Iagree
I was in an accident in the parking lot of my old apartment due to poor maintenance on their part, totaled my vespa and have a permament knee injury. Went to doctors and PT. All said and done the settlement was around, I want to say maybe $12K and I think I got less than $3K after everything was paid. I was pretty pissed about it and kinda blocked it Mad

Dude your in for some pain later down the road. You lawyer can probably settle for a lot more. Once you settle everything is done. You need to think about the future. Your going to need more rehab and probably have issues down the road.

No, surgery won't help.

I feel like hands are more important than hips though. No?

Talking about this on an internet forum is a really bad idea...

Why? Who would know that UTR's real name is Censored Censored and she lives in Censored, MA?

If someone who knows of the case stumbles across this info and the OP telling people to take "bets" on how much they will be awarded, it just seems like it could go poorly.

You're overestimating how important this case is. Stop being paranoid.

op - if you are married - claim loss of consortium (spouse can sue too)

seriously - you got a big payout coming - shop for better attorney

e.g., w/out tmi - i have a case in process for 1mm
1 millimeter? what about 1 inch? 1 inch is bigger, much bigger nod

Quote from UTR :
1mm?
I don't think I can shop for a better attorney. We're at the last leg of the process. He only gets money when I win. I can't say 'no thank you' at this point, can I? I'm not married.
then ask for more money, since you are supposed to have more sex, which causes more pain nod Sadwalk

Would you expect any less from me? Confused

It's really easy to find out too, your close friend who lives in MA with you has you on her FB buddy list (and she posted her account and name publicly laugh out loud), I've seen pictures of you, it'll take me less than 3 mins to find out your real name if I wanted to. Ask vec how I got his real name Wink
