Did you watch?

For a show on a non premium cable channel, I thought it was very good. I never read the comic, so I don't know how it compares, but I'll be watching every Sunday. pisses me off that I don't get AMC in HD though.

where is the govenor now? There can't be too many of his men that stayed with him? I think I missed this or was it not brought up?
One of the biggest mysteries this season - the Gov's whereabouts. nod

Michonne has been attempting to hunt him down. Don't worry - they will definitely come back to his storyline!

I'm thinking there will be some infectious disease outbreak, something that could be treated with modern medicine but deadly in the zombie apocalypse. I wouldn't read too much into the mention of the deer, it just establishes that Daryl is out hunting for food and showed that Patrick was helping cook the food. If he was sick, he contaminated the food and others will get sick.

Two things bothered me about the episode:
1. Why wasn't Hershel treating/examining the sick pig? He was a vet, that would be his specialty. Rick makes the comment that he doesn't know what's wrong with the pig, could be something, could be nothing. Even if he couldn't treat or cure the pig, shouldn't Hershel have at least figured out what was wrong with it? Or is he just bad at his job?

2. The roof zombies... The more I think about them, the less they make sense. They've probably been up there a while. Assuming they've been shuffling around the roof most of that time, shouldn't most of them have wandered toward the edges of the roof and fallen off? I'm not sure zombies can climb ladders so once they fall off, there's no getting back up there. Obviously the roof had some structural issues. Again with the zombies moving around shouldn't they have already fallen through or at the very least there should be some holes where a foot went through. Sure there could be that one spot that just happens to give at that time but I doubt it would have caused the domino effect that brought the rest of the roof down.
Also, those store shelves looked too well stocked, I'd think it would have been looted completely a year after after z-day. The electronic devices I could maybe believe, what good are they without electricity, but there's no way there would be any wine or liquor left.

Sorry, but you can't treat the black oil from The X-files with modern medicine. And this is obviously the black oil from The X-files.

Re: 2. IIRC before the group entered the store after they killed the 2 walkers inside and they dragged their corpses out. The camera focused on a lower torso. That could had been part of one of the former or from someone on the roof before or after as a walker. Walkers on the roof wouldn't likely walk off the roof as most commercial buildings have a raised edge so basically it would serve as a corral to the walkers. There could had been more that went over else where beside the entrance in the past. Unsure

I think this is actually a great point.

Maybe we are under-appreciating the deer's significance. Patrick seems quite healthy in the first part of the episode, and things turn (ha) for him after the scene where he takes over the cooking. We don't know if he was sick before the meat, and contaminated it for everyone, or if the meat was responsible for him becoming ill.

Also recall that Daryl distinctly licks his fingers before shaking Patrick's hand. I wonder if that has significance in terms of disease.

Well, that's a pretty good point. But then again, Rick is now a farmer, so everyone may have left their pasts behind them. It still seems like he should have taken a look..

To your first point.. just don't think about it too much. Perhaps the slow shuffling was light enough to not break the roof, but the running and crowding was enough. A scene that I also thought was a bit far-fetched, but it made for good action and great "It's Raining Men" references nod

To your second point, there was obviously a camp there, but would you really want to be so inebriated you couldn't run away? I'd be scared shitless of getting anything past tipsy given the horrors around me. Dontknow

But you're right, it was pretty well-stocked. Can't remember if they mentioned anything about why it was so well-stocked.

If you looked closely, the legs on the ground in front of Bob were cleanly cut at the waist.

Upon panning up, we see his other half on the roof, crawling, cut cleanly at the waist, who presumably had been slashed in half by a helicopter blade during the crash.

They actually did mention why the store wasn't ransacked (I thought at least...). When they were gathering around the fence they mentioned something about "a week ago" the place was filled with Zombies...(I picture the High School yard). So no one was in the store because it was being guarded #1) by the Army at the start of the breakout and then #2) by Zombie Army ever since then. They got all the zombies to leave by playing the loud speaker and cutting a hole in the fence.

The lip of the roof was already mentioned...I think that would be enough for them to stay up there / not fall off. And if you remember from a couple seasons back when they go to the bar to get Carl's photo... The Zombies are pretty darn stagnant when they are stuck somewhere so unless there is something that is going to drive them to move (smells or noises) the shuffle is at a minimum. If the store was dead (ha!), there would be no reason for them to shuffle around and they would be all spread out / not really near the helicopter. The noise, directly under the copter caused them to stir...

But, the part that got me...the helicopter might weigh ~20,000 lbs....you add in 20 zombies...it seems like such a small percentage of weight but yet it caused it to suddenly crash down. BUT, it was close enough to real for me to not care and enjoy the chaos!

Watched Talking Bad finally and wow, Scott Gimple, the new showrunner, reminds me of a cross between Christopher Walken and Mo Rocca.

Someone theorized that it landed on the HVAC system and thus had some extra support, and the roof would not have been maintained over months/years of rain and snowfall.

But yeah, it's kind of silly, but I don't watch TWD to think laugh out loud (except I do)

My problem with the roof is those things had been walking around up there for how long? And ONLY when the people were inside under the roof was the roof so suddenly weak that holes appeared everywhere for them to fall through in.

That was discussed on the Talking Dead by the showrunner. They gave a slight hint of trickling water from the roof but the idea was that the roof, with the helicopter on it, had been taking on rain water for a long while that the structure had weakened to the point that any disturbance could lead to what we saw.

You have said "Showrunner" a couple of times now...are you talking about the producer or the guy next to him (is he on a show called "Showrunner" or something? I have never heard that term.

That's the term for Executive Producer. The main guy calling the shots on all the fine little details. The Jerry Bruckheimer of TWD so to speak. The first showrunner was Frank Darabont, he helped develop and pitch the show to AMC. He left after Season 1 and Season 2-3 was headed up by Glen Mazzara, one of the main writers and producers. He left last year and now the showrunner is Scott Gimple, another one of the main writers and producers. At least they're passing the buck on to those within the TWD family as opposed to bringing in outside talent that hasn't helped create the world before.
