just wait for one of your pseudo-friends to start bugging you about their great new job at SomeInsuranceCompany and all the great benefits they can offer you.

if i die, my wife gets 2x my yearly salary. if she dies, i get $5,000. i have both short-term and long-term disability. my employer pays for all this and gives me the option to purchase additional life insurance.

If you die on the job or die to AD&D, you get double the amount. SCORE!
How does that work? An additional AD&D might do it, but if it is not AD&D, how can they double it. The company pays it from its pocket? Do you work for insurance company?

I have no idea how it works behind the scenes. It may be a separate policy. I don't plan on dieing at work laugh out loud

My company pays for 1x my yearly wage. This is the same for all "typical" employees. I cant say about the upper management.

I can buy disability, aflac-type short term, and additional life ins for wife, kid and myself.

Thanks, I think my company has the same policy. Do your wife and kids get the same rate as yours?

My company pays for some paltry amount--I think it may be $20,000 and we can purchase additional coverage beyond that which I choose not to do.

Why exactly should I spend any money on life insurance? Dontknow

For 2010 wife can = half of my current ins. But I'd need to buy additional ins for her to get added. Same with one kid but only up to 10k life ins.

2011 wife can = my lvl of insurance.
But unchanged for a child...I didn't read or ask if that included ages up to 26 or other rules for that child to be covered. My child is going on 2.
