RETIRED: Target chit chat

Hubby left here wearing his new attached to his head by the pin in his skull hearing aid this morning. Wow, you should have seen him yesterday. When they first got it programed and he put it on he was absolutely amazed. He didn't realize that when you cross or move your legs that your jeans make noise. He had never heard that. Then he picked up his fluorescent orange work hat that is some weird material (we had to leave straight from work) and couldn't believe how loud it crinkled. He about jumped out of his skin when we shut the van doors. We had to stop at Menards for more soffit material and he couldn't believe how loud it was in there -- I just told him, wait til you go to Wal-Mart. So, it was a pretty amazing evening. I can't wait to hear about his day today.

Ummm, and we did sort of end up in the Mexican restaurant to celebrate. But I didn't eat anything else yesterday -- does that count?

I just can't keep up but just a quick post ...

To all the mourning Mom's , I'm truly sorry for your losses.
I think we should name these babies names , and I will be lighting a candle with you all at 7 pm in remberance along with all of you , tomorrrow evening , I already have two names and would like to rememberr as many as I can by name if you care to post them . I won't name the second but leave that up to her Mom if she cares to share that . That would be a three dimensional candle, and I post a pic one if someone can tell me how to do that. I don't see a way to add an attachment.

I'm resigning myself to that but yet trying to be positive. Older ds didn't go through this stage (maybe because of having autism? who knows) but the monkey is all about playing pocket pool. So much so that we have a pet name for it- pants monkey. If it gets too quiet, we can usually finding him in his room, naked, talking to his penis. If he happens to walk down stairs, he'll announce his hUUUge penis. I had to ask other boy moms to find out how normal this is.

He could have alot of fun with that thing , he could eavesdrop in plain site for awhile LOL.

The sort of weird thing is that my daughter has hyperacousis which is basically the opposite of being hard of hearing. She hears things normal people don't. So, she actually can eavesdrop in plain site... from a long way away.

I have a pendulum clock in the kitchen. The house is almost square - the kitchen is the south east corner. Her room is the north west corner in the basement. We have insulated the ceiling and all walls - including the interior walls of her room. She can hear the ticking unless she has her earplugs in or other noise on. We won't even talk about the cuckoo clocks. You can whisper and she can hear you even if she's in another room. It's CREEPY.

Hugs to all the mamas out there. Funny you should mention that name...that is the name I gave the little one I lost. Well, actually it is Sam. Since we didn't know if it was a boy or girl and we didn't want to do the test to find out...Sam is a great fit.

Pumpkin pancakes sound good! But then so does pumpkin bread, and pumpkin pie... and those Archer Farms chocolate overload brownies.

My 8 yr old is on a pancake kick and thinks IHOP is the greatest place ever invented. If we do happen to make pancakes, I make extra to freeze for him to have for a few days. He likes the Kellogg's frozen more so than the box mix frozen.

I bought one of those pancake popper type pans and was looking for recipes for it. Some included sparkling water. Any advice on pancake batter?

My 8-yo is quite content w/his own penis currently, but is convinced that his isn't going to look like his father's when he gets older -- after all, his daddy's is all hairy and gross.

We were driving home the other day and my 12yr old son asked me what a "Gentleman's Club" was This place if right off of a major road in town right next to Red Robin, Chuckie cheese and the movie theater I just told him its a bar... a really bad bar and he shouldn't talk about it to anyone else. Seriously Kallison, that is just silly!! I second what Ank said about teaching them the proper terminology for that reason alone if for nothing else. The only argument I could think to make against or with that is that it is probably important that you teach them that there are appropriate and not-so-appropriate times to be using such words....you know, like you wouldn't want them yelling those words down the aisles of Target I suppose

And as for the VS lady, that is just and makes no sense whatsoever.

Irritable isn't the word. She wears earplugs at home a lot. She always wears them to sleep and often wears them up here just to block background noise out but she can still hear us and the tv just fine. Of course, now that I don't have to yell at hubby that could change!

There are certain things that seem to be especially irritating. Ticking clocks is a big one -- and hubby and I have a small collection of cuckoos(4) and antique clocks (5). She keeps stopping them. The turning signal in my van irritates her but the ones in her cars or our truck don't -- apparently Toyota has especially loud signals. Typing noise is bad for her for some reason. I don't think it hurt it just drives her nuts. I think her worst crazy maker is food -- spoons clinking in bowls and God forbid, you want to have a potato chip in this house. She will go bat shit psycho.

Remember that really good Pace coupons a couple years ago? Not the one referred to as "spicy" but it was a mfr. $5 off salsa. Target had the big jugs for just over $5. I bought a bunch thinking of her graduation party.... that didn't happen. We still have enough salsa to float a battleship.

If there is a lot of noise or even a very load noise, it does physically hurt. She went to the races this summer and has decided she won't EVER do that again. We used to go occasionally when she was little and I don't remember her complaining then. As she has gotten older it has gotten much, much worse. She is 20 now and I think it has stopped worsening which, I believe is pretty typical.
