That's sweet u brought tears to my eyes, I've been overwhelmed lately and dh doesn't seem to notice or care he's off in his own world most of the time. I'm not as great a mother I am often frustrated by my kids and yell way more then I should. Honestly I don't feel like I have any good characteristics right now

Awww, you made me sad! Don't ever say you aren't a peach prize! We are all worth our weight in gold. Each of us has our own special characteristics that makes us whom we are. So what if you are model thin, or have big boobs, or maybe you aren't good at math. (okay, I'm just stating those things, I don't know if any of them are true)That doesn't matter. What matters is that you are who you are. I bet you are a wonderful mother, and any man should appreciate that.

I've always put myself on the back burner, but I've finally started doing more for myself. Even if it's taking time to go for a walk by myself, or taking a bath. The simple things in life are sometimes the best.

I think you need a hug

hug That's not true! It's easy to become overwhelmed though because as mom, we put our needs last all the time.

That is probably true, I've never put myself first, before my kids was dh and before him was my mom,and family, our roles were pretty much reversed and I didn't get to be a worry free kid for long. I am good at taking care of people I'm just not good at dealing with emotions or something. I've been in a rutt lately, hoping it will pass soon

awwww, hon! thank you! hug
just reading that made me feel better.
i put away all the leftovers.
dishes are all done save for the big pasta pot with pasta insert. it is soaking. i'll get to it in a bit - taking a "back break"

Quote from gt6mk31 :

probably. and/or i'm really good at fooling myself into forgetting the exhaustion/frustration.
don't do the perm is my 2 cents. they damage the hair so much that it causes hair to fall out/break/thin out even more.
how about doing pin curls - spray hair with some styling spray (the good ones are usually very gentle and do not damage hair or leave it all stiffy and dry like hairspray) roll around fingers and then pin the rolls. you can sleep with it or just leave on for a few hours. when you remove, hair will be wavy and fuller - just soft curls.

also, when you have your next endocrin appt, mention the increased hair loss. that is a very distinctive thyroid symptom and increases with certain meds - as in, a side effect. docs can adjust for that.

Quote from setsail :
....hug because you want to eat well yourself. others be damned.
...
nod yep, that's totally true.
cooking for just myself would be far less work - i'm a foodie, and so I love, love, love trying new foods/cooking things, but i'm very low maintenance in that if I make more of something, i'll unflinchingly eat the same few things for several days in a row until it is finished. some recipes are just really hard to make in small quantities. you know?
but when you start cooking for others, you've got to take into account tastes, and complaints, and eating behavior and deal with leftovers and make room in the fridge for the old stuff while you keep making new stuff cos folks won't eat the same thing more than once and blah blah blah. exhausting.
and then you're still doing the picking up empty boxes and bottles and mugs and washing the dishes just left on the counter and oh yeah picking every misplaced object and returning to its original location so it can be found again the next time it is wanted. as you said - gets old.
hug

layers... your description sounds like a very bad job of layers done by someone who didn't know what they were doing. good layers are subtle, not like jagged sandstone cliffs. laugh out loud
to wit, look at the hair of any major female movie star - they all have layers.
i have layers. put in by a fab hairdresser. she's so good that when i moved to another part of the country, i would fly over just to see her and my esthetician. Big Grin and bless her heart, hairstylist would cut my layers such that as they grew out the shape would stay cos she knew i couldn't come in often. 6 months out from a haircut, i'd still get compliments.
when i don't have layers, my hair just sits flat at the tp, curly/frizzy at the bottom. no fun.

oh hon. you do have good characteristics - lots and lots of them. we are our own worst critics, all the time. and I think as women we are conditioned to constantly pushing ourselves to do more, more, more even when we are tired. constantly take care of people around us, constantly fix, and arrange and organize and shop and clean and this and that - the list of todos never ends.

so you've got to hit the pause button and do something nice for yourself. even if it means sitting down for an hour and watching tv, or renting a dvd and watching a movie, or running a bath, or listening to some music. whatever it is, make it something relaxing and make it just for you. you may not be able to put yourself first because of circumstances, but you can do better than putting yourself last. know what i mean? it's a lesson i need to learn, too.

hug hug hug

and pay attn to that feeling of being overwhelmed - we all have boundaries of how much we're willing to take/able to take and when you start feeling that way, it's your spirit saying enough, don't push me anymore. you've got to honor that and take a step back. there's one life to live and it is YOUR LIFE, so do something for you.

I love to bake, cooking is ok. Most days I feel like a short order cook because of allergies, food intolerances, downright sensory issues (8 yr old with autism eats less than 10 things, I'm not exaggerating, poor kid). You have to do the best with what you have so we have lots of simple meals.

And the layers- *sigh*. I need to find a good stylist but yet can't spend a whole lot either. Embarrassment With my hair being at chin length, again because of the bad cut, if I don't do something, it looks like what you describe. At chin length so I'm an ompa loompa. laugh out loud

I do MyPoints, but I pretty much just click the emails for the 5 points. On the surveys I try to DQ myself just to quickly get the 10 points for trying. LMAO I do surveys elsewhere and somehow can't motivate myself to do them for MyPoints too.

You should check out the Frogpond there, I think they still have it. You quickly review a website and give a little write up with your opinon. I think it's 25 or 50 points per review and it's fast and easy.

I always forget to print my coupons there, but that is a great way to increase your points.

Are you a Bzz Agent? We get MyPoints for every review that we submit when in a campaign, so I get some that way too. I pretty much cash out as soon as I get enough for a $10 Starbucks GC and that is every few months with not spending much time at all trying. Good luck to you!
Thanks for the tips!! Will check those out.

egads... I should do the staples thing too.. Where are the hours in the day??

Take paper and do big letters for Happy Birthday on each one - divide up and let the kids go to town decorating them. Tape or string them together and hang 'em up. Make dinner and have the kids decorate papers for special placemats. Make paper flowers, light canles, etc... just do a little something out of the ordinary for dinner. Wake up a little early and give him a morning... um... well.. yeah... Lust Do you have stuff to make a little cake? Let the kids help/decorate. Have everyone practice singing happy birthday or some other song, then get them all dressed up and ready when he walks in and break into song. Maybe they could even do a birthday puppet show or little play or something. Anything like that would probably make it special. Smilie

I hope your little one feels better!!

Egads!!! What happened??!!??
Great ideas!! Think I'll do one or two of them for sure. nod Once I get rid of this headache, that is...

She's all Biggrin2 to your face and then Secret behind and it's darned annoying. Sure, everyone here knows that and doesn't really believe what she's saying, but it's ridiculous AND it's annoying. Especially when it's about my kids.
You know we want details. We're nosey.

Can you explain the staples thingy to me. I have been so busy this month, but things should calm down soon. October, December, and July are my busy months. I keep seeing all these deals, but I can't seem to find time to breathe, let alone trying to actually execute the deals too.

Rite Aid has been good to us, we are sustaining ourselves because of them!

we were discussing it today and he told me well we are not in the position for you to be able to have any time off...wtf!?! Mind you he does NOT work as he is in Pharmacy school.. ok no problem... but he also is in school for classes from 8-5pm comes home, eats dinner, then leaves and may not come home until 11-12ish sometimes later from studying and IF he spends anytime with us, we will go out on Saturday then he is gone all day Sunday except dinnertime... is it really that hard to comprehend what I am getting pissy about?
Um no, no it's not.

We both know I'm not as nice as you, but, I cured this problem by quitting. I basically quit and other than a once weekly meal, I DON'T do it anymore. I love them and I want them to be healthy but I can't sacrifice my mental health for their good eating habits. NO ONE appreciated it then but EVERYONE notices that I don't do it anymore.
