Anyway, I guess I'm old school - give kids a book, toys, Legos, trains, whatever, but make their imagination work. Help their brain grow. Don't park them in front of a TV/iPod/computer/DSi/whatever and let them go comatose.
I'm thinking about giving in a little and getting my son one of the systems, either the Leapster (or whatever the current one is called
Hope everyone is having a fabulous Monday!!
Even though I'm well paid, I've never understood spending the money all on myself. I did buy myself a La-Z-Boy sofa last year for Christmas, and gas logs for the house 3 years ago.
I'm very generous to the Brother and SIL though (and their 8 kids).
PS anyone have a P&G update for Sunday or are they not coming out this Sunday?
is the Axe bogo target friendly?
So gimme the low-down on what's good and what's not.

I like a lot of Zen products, especially for a youngin'. Easy drag and drop interface should make your life easier.
Like cathi wrote, we all have our own interests. Wouldn't life be boring if everyone were the same?
farking computer virus hell over here. first my laptop, THEN my PC, now dd's laptop. arghhhh...some crazy thing called security tool.
W.T.F.
Personally, I really wouldn't get it for him. Both because I also doubt he is old enough but also because aren't they suppose to run with head-phones? I'm not the most paranoid mother but I'd be a bit concerned about him using the head-phones. I'd worry a bit about their harm to his hearing and also the possible danger he could get into if distracted while he had them on.
Then again, if you decide to get one for your son, I'd be the first to let you know if I saw a good deal. After all it's your decision not mine. And just because this is something I might be Leary of giving my son I'm sure if you reviewed my parenting choices you would find plenty of things that would have given you pause as well.
We also had a kid last year that was walking on the railroad tracks by our house with headphones on. He didn't hear the train (though there is some debate about if it was an accident or suicide), but the official story is that it was a tragic accident.
My kids know that they NEVER wear headphones while they are out riding bikes/scooters or anything like that. They can use headphones while at home, riding in the car, or walking on the sidewalk. Never when there is not a sidewalk, while they are on the road, ect..
Color me confused!!
Teri, I think and hope that you'll receive good news from the doc!
As others mentioned, I have heard positive reviews of the SanDisk Sansa and Microsoft Zune players
as well and they usually cost considerably less than an iPod. Here is a recent deal with 14 TU votes
for the SanDisk Sansa Fuze 4GB MP3 Player.
My kids have some Insignia 1GB MP3 players that were $20 new a few years ago (i.e. would be about $5 now). They are still going strong. Well, except my son's. I was using it for my Halloween display, stuck it in my back pocket, then did laundry
I would start out with a reg. MP3 player, let the kids take care of that for a year or so, see if it's something they take care of and use, that way if they do lose it, no big deal.
BTW- saw that Halloween costumes and accessories are all 30% off now until the 30th, probably posted in deals, but I don't feel like going over there to see.
