I use on average about 50 coupons per trip if I am in 1 of my own stores. I use about 100 if I am in an out of town store.
Sending lots of hugs!!
brandy/cognac with some honey. a spoonful of honey, 2 spoonfuls of brandy. mix and drink up.
i like it with cognac. more cognac, less (read: no) honey.
Well - I guess whatever I have is different than what everyone was passing around here for the past 2 weeks. Both the girls woke up complaining of sore throats. I think we are going to huddle up today. No school, etc... It's rainy and cold, so today is a good day to do that.
WW to you shoppers today.
OK, for those who decorate cakes - I'm looking at pictures of princess/Barbie cakes, and I'm wondering, for a beginner decorator (as in, I've never really decorated for reals before), is there an easier technique than fondant for making the dress look smooth? And if I must do fondant, should I make it or buy it? I found an easy enough recipe for marshmallow fondant that sounds like it probably even tastes good, but I don't know how easy it is to work with. Any thoughts?
Must get to T today!!!!

Fondant is a PITA - but I *hate* fondant, so take that for what it's worth...
To make the dress look smooth when using a butter-cream icing you would first frost the dress and let it set for a few minutes - long enough to get that little crusty feel. Then take a Viva paper towel and lay over the frosting, smooth with your hands or a spatula/icing spreader. Gently peel off and you're done.

Jamie, so excited for the baby. What a miracle, and rollercoaster all in one!
HDD, I owe you some coupons. Had unexpected company that is leaving tonight, so will try to get on it, still for you!
My nephew is holding in there, gaining weight but still needing transfusions. He is over 6 lbs now and moving into newborn clothes! He will soon be wearing the long sleeve onesie I got him that says "My Auntie is Awesome!"
Hmmm, what else? Oh, start a new job in 2 weeks, this one has wonderful benefits, but will take a cut in pay. Also get Friday afternoons off. That will give me enough time to make the circuit of stores before picking DH up from work (we carpool).

On the one I made I didn't think the sprinkles would stick if the icing got to dry so I just smoothed it the best I could, after it was all iced I used a butter knife and a tiny bit of water on it and went from waist to bottom of the dress turning it as I went around, and then we covered pretty much the whole dress in sprinkles. Got a handful of sprinkles and threw it at the dress, DD thew hers, turn the doll toss more sprinkles, going all the way around. There is probably a fancier way to do it but with the dress being up and down instead of laying flat on the counter it was harder to try to figure out how to put the sprinkles on in some kind of organized pattern.
We just used a pink frosting out of a jar probably better crocker or pillsbury, which ever I had coupons for
I had origionally thought we would make a pretty pattern on the dress with the sprinkles like lacy layers with the diamond looking sparkles then a 'ribbon' of pink sparkles going around but the icing was getting dry and sprinkles stopped sticking and DD was getting fussy so I tossed a handfull on and that worked well, then DD was giggling and tossing sprinkles, it was fun but super messy. I wish we had a pic on the computer. In fact the pics were on the old desk top that smoked one day so they might be lost for ever, the computer guy said we needed to hire a data recovery guy
It did turn out really pretty for all the disorganization in decorating and I got a tun of compliments from all the kids and other moms at the party. Although they could have just been being nice, but really it did turn out pretty good.
I guess with the fondant you could decorate it while it was laying flat and then wrap it around the cake, you will still need a layer of frosting under it for it to stick to the cake.
Good luck flu, I am sure it will turn out great, another thing I was thinking by letting DD help a lot with the decorating was if it did turn out a little funky I could always say that DD had so much fun helping that I let her do it all

That is awesome news about the job and how great that you will have time to do a circuit run. I am really thinking that is the best way to do it.
Nikayla, I'm dying to see this cake!!!!
Gator, happy birthday to L!!! Big 3 today

Depends who you ask...

Moving got pushed back a week due to lack of funds and unexpected, uhm, events.
gator - Happy Birthday to your big 3 year old. I think 3 was my favorite age. More independent than 2 and less mouthy than 4. Enjoy it!

Great tip about the Viva! I thought that's what you were supposed to do, but wasn't sure.

Happy Birthday to your ds! And thanks, I was hoping I wasn't alone in having a lot to use today and only a little time.
Hope they are feeling better quickly, ank. And yep.
