OMG Thrift I am so glad you guys are ok and had the detector! Thanks for the reminder.
Ours are out in the garage, DH knows where they are, or so he says. I just told him and said go get them so we can put them up (I have ask him to do it several times!) he said, "meh.... they are old, old technoligy. Go the the fire station and ask for new ones, they will probably give them to you for free." Annoyed I think I am going to go out to his beloved garage and just start digging through everything until I find them. I bought them right before we moved about 6 years ago and we only had them up for a few months. I really don't see how that makes them so old they won't work.

I got rainchecks for them yesterday, they had the pad out because they were already out of them Annoyed
Our CO detector went off last year and we found out that they have a life span. It should say on the back when it starts-ours was 6 or 7 years. They have a sensor that is only good for that time and though it will still give you the display it may not be functioning as a detector. Ours had been plugged in and working when I moved it to a new outlet. When I replugged it in it went off. I had 2 neighbors come over, one a Fire Capt. and the other a furnace installer and they are the ones that told me about the lifespan. Please check yours out. Also, here you have to buy them as the Fire Dept only gives out Smoke Alarms.

A friend did a test when we told him-ran his car with the detector plugged in next to the exhaust-no alarm or high reading.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing good, I'm trying to get caught up so I can get some shopping done before Christmas.

If you do not have a carbon monoxide detector in your home GET ONE! Ours went off at 5:30 this morning showing levels higher than 100 PPM. That = evacuate immediately! CO is not something you can smell or see. so the only way you'd know you had CO leak is with a detector.
Scary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so glad that you are ok!!!! HUGS HUGS HUGS HUGS HUGS to you! What the heck made the leak? Was it your furnace? I am so glad you got out!!! HUGS HUGS

My oldest daughter for Carbon Mon poisoning years ago when she was 2 or 3 when she went on a trip & no one in the car noticed that they all had BRIGHT RED faces and pounding headaches ... they noticed when they arrived back at home and she wouldn't wake up ... I was called at work to tell me that they couldn't wake her up ... I had heart failure and told them to call 911!!! She ended up being fine after being in the hosp a couple of days on oxygen. Head Bang

Quote from gatorcater :
OK, so which one of you kept outbidding me at the last minute last night for 10 Kohl's Coupons? I tried to win about 10 different auctions and someone kept beating me... :ugh:
Well it isn't me - I have LOST every on of those that I have bid on .... I will never get them either!

Awesome!! I don't quite have 100 cans, but I think I probably have enough to get rid of them fairly quickly.

I love Wegmans, too. If money was no issue, I would shop there all the time. I love the atmosphere, the selection, the prices, everything. Compared to the other stores in our area, Wegmans is head and shoulders above the competition.

I am so excited - got my sisters lined up to watch the kiddos tomorrow night, so hubby and I are going on a date of - CIRCUIT SHOPPING!!! He was so excited when I told him ... NOT! Rofl2 I have 4 hours to hit up as many Targets and Kohls as I can. And I am not liking the rumors I am reading on the deals thread, so I am going to try to make hay while the sun shines, so to speak!
what?!?!? what rumors?!?! don't make me wade through deals thread twatwaffles!!!! Please

Wow, that puts the toys I have to donate to shame!

DH told his team at work that if they all bonused that he'd bring them cheesecake. Well... they all bonused. I just figured out that I am currently committed to at least 6 cheesecakes for this month. Faint I've got caramel, strawberry, pumpkin, mushroom/crab, oreo, and one who's flavor is up in the air still. I'm thinking maybe white choklit/peppermint but undecided yet. That is 24 bricks of philly right there. Man - I need some q's and overage big time! And another fridge. Hmm... I'm tired of making oreo. Maybe I'll do a chocolate one - maybe raspberry & dark chocolate. I'm open for suggestions!

I went to T tonight. Forgot half my q's, so it was just kind of eh...
Mushroom/Crab flavored Cheesecake!

Did I just read that right?Confused

Sorry, I've been AWOL for a few weeks now. Been so behind on the board its been hard to find the time to catch up.

Was just listening to Talk of the Nation on NPR. They had a speaker talking about bullying and its effects on people into their adult life. It was very interesting and some of the callers and e-mails practically brought me to tears. Some of them might have well been channeling my own feelings and long term effects in life.

I'm a short fair-skinned redhead and was bullied up until college. My mothers advice growing up had been to grin and bear it until the bullies got bored and gave up. Sadly that advice never worked and worse it just reinforced a tendency to not stand up for myself and has led to my being in relationships and jobs where I allow people to walk over me.

It was sad to hear how many others have felt that it has effected them similarly in life.

hug thanks meesh.. Thanksgiving was different this year. I only had one day off of work, and spent the Tuesday night before at the hospital with DD (who was having contractions) until 2:30 am. I was so tired that I didn't cook, or go anywhere. In fact, I didn't get out of my PJ's on Thanksgiving. DS went to his dads, DD went to her MIL's and I stayed in bed getting some much needed R&R.
