Macy's is running a background check on my 6 year old child, is that legal?

1,739 1,234 February 9, 2011 at 09:19 AM in Chat
So this past christmas my 6 year old was hurt at macy's when a display shelf came crashing down.

Today is the 1st time they contacted me.

The wanted to know about a car accident we had 3 months ago.

How the hell do they know my 6 year old was in a car accident unless they ran a background check.

Any ideas?

And no trolls, I'm not looking for legal advice, I'm looking for the database that Macy's used to check on my child.

Thanks!

I see the spoiler, but you have every right to do that if both parties agree.

You should leave a note with your phone number. When they call, agree to meet them but never show up and then stop answering their calls.

Well they probably could have refused to give the information for the claim.

When I was a kid I fell on metal stairs at a Burger King playground and cut my gums really bad. I had to be taken to the ER and almost had to get stitches but it was just below the minimum depth for them. We never filed a claim at BK or tried to even get the medical bills paid for. Amazing how times have changed now where any little accident turns into litigation.
That case would have been thrown right out of court. You fell because you were wearing those Ronald McDonald shoes. Burger King was not at fault at all. Nono2

Insurance industry keeps track of all insurance claims ever made in what's called an ISO database. Your boy's SSN, address, parents' name, it all comes up.

This is standard procedure. Don't worry so much. Now, if your son has same or similar injuries in the two incidents, that might affect their settlement offer.

No, that makes too much sense. Let's go back to speculation so we cover all bases and angles. . Secret
