Yesterday my house got robbed and I sent 3 kids to kiddie jail and one home for a spanking!

My House was robbed by 4 kids. OMG One was only eight years old. The 8 year old boy cracked under pressure and told his mommy what he had done. I got most of my stuff back, but not all of it. I'm out $700 to $800 in odds and ends. Some of the stuff that is still missing is stuff that can never be replaced. I'm very sad & pissed off! Please say a little prayer that I get the rest of my stuff back. Crying

Of course it is but to a jury it may be relevant. And maybe a few nights in jail will shake lose the whereabouts of the remainder of OP's stuff.
Something this minor I doubt if they would even be a hearin in juvenile court. If they agree to make restitiution, the arrestin officer will probably just drop it.

I am confused about one thing, what is wrong with the kids' parents, did they not do anything to try and get your stuff back, or punish their kids? IF it was my kid, he would be punished and taught manners.
The parent of the 8 year old did drag he kid over to the cops to confess. You missed it, it was in a earlier post.
Quote from PaintTheSkyGrey :
How is this relevant?

It's still ethically and morally unacceptable by any standards, and very much illegal. You could leave your front door wide open and if someone came in uninvited, it's still burglary if they intend to steal.
Quote from PaintTheSkyGrey :
How would it be relevant to a jury? The jury is to decide whether the suspects are guilty of a crime or not. The door being unlocked is irrelevant to the nature or commission of the crime. The door being unlocked has no bearing on the fact that grand theft and burglary occurred here.
Thank you Mr. Paint. But yes My Husband was a Dumb ass to leave it unlocked, even if he was just going over to his sons house for a hour or two. I would bet everyone has done it a time or two!

EEK! Go get'um Cupcake!!! And kudos to that Mom of the 8-year old!! Sadly nowadays, some parents would not turn their kid in. I hope she scared the life out of that kid, and is teaching them a lesson they won't forget!!!
nod Thanks:
Quote from w3kn :
If my child was one that did that, they wouldn't be able to sit for a while and would be doing extensive work around your house, free of charge.

Hope you get all your stuff back and the kids learn a lesson.

I have to admit I am also curious where you live Cupcake... is it a big city somewhere? Maybe I'm naive but it seems pretty crazy to me that an 8 year old kid would participate in a robbery. If this was April 1 I would be certain that you were playing a prank on us... are kids really this crazy these days?

my SIL had this happen to her. well, it was a similar scenario. she had a couple teenagers from next door break into her apartment. all they did was try on her clothes Crazy and steal some of her bras and panties. they never got into any real trouble either, and this was in Winter Park, FL - they were 13-15 years old. she never felt safe there again, though, and ended up moving shortly after the "break-in".
No wai. I lived in Winter Park for 8 years and graduated from WPHS. I might have known the little punks.

Wrong, they are in juvenile detention center and the cops said to press charges.

I'm sorry cupcake! I hope you get all your stuff returned and that the kids learn a lesson.

For those of you thinking 8 is too young to do things like that, you're wrong...I was skinny dipping, wandering around neighborhoods, sneaking into people's gardens and stealing apples, and smoking...I wasn't a bad kid but I did do dumb things...no I would never have gone into someone's house and made off with their stuff, but thinking 8 is too young and innocent to be running around and doing what older kids do is just naive.

Also I got caught and stopped doing those things...but that is when you push boundaries especially because parents are just then starting to give a lil leeway to the kids running around with the other kids in the neighborhood.

You were smoking and skinny dipping in neighbor's pool at 8 years old? Seems young for that kind of activity.

Stupid kids, I hope they learn something from this. At least you got most of your stuff back and sounds like you will get more of it back. We got robbed when I was a kid and I felt violated because those assholes stole my best friend, our TV.

if they have older sibs they probably spend a lot of time around older kids who might not necessarily be the best influence. we all know the crowd mentality...people are much more likely to do stuff they wouldn't do on their own when in a group, and an 8 year old is especially impressionable.

Not in a pool...in the gravel pit down the street from my house...and not really....it was right before 4th grade...I'd been swimming competitively for 2 years by then...worked on my parents farm...walking to school with my sister (w/o parents, 1 mile) I learned how to be responsible for myself early...yeah I did some stupid things but I always got caught cause my parents paid attention and I learned what things not to do and I was allowed a lot of freedoms cause they could trust me.

Kids are a lot smarter than people think...people just need to start expecting things of them and not just being like...oh well you're young you don't know any better....lets coddle you...I knew what sex was before I was 4...I knew human body differences...I had a slight understanding of why the sky was really blue...because my parents let me watch nature and science shows and never said I was too young to understand something....my dad would explain in depth scientific concepts to me at early ages and when I asked him what a period (menstral cycle) was when I was 7...he didn't shy away...he told me straight out...all the while changing the breaks on the van.

I'm sorry but people need to expect more of their kids and understand that they're never too young to learn how to be responsible!
