Someone once left an ear of corn they were warming in my microwave when we went on vacation for a week. You can imagine the stench when we came home. I took a small dish and put cotton balls soaked in vanilla in it. Closed it up in the microwave for a few days and it removed the odor.If you have charcoal, this works too.
Thanks! I will try that one. I've got baking soda in there now but the vanilla sounds better!

The peelies are a joke this year....that's 20.00 off an expensive arrangement.
You are so lucky to have that 60 degrees!!! I so miss the open windows. Winter is running in and out of the cold with three layers on. I am so ready for spring.
As for the smell....got any glade candles???
Got Glade! laugh out loud And, our wacky OK weather, we're at 12 degrees early in the week and 60 today. Actually this a.m. was 17 and it got to 60 today!

I got a call today from the doctor that I tested positive for the cystic fibrosis gene! Both my Dh and I would have to have it and then we have a 1 and 4 chance of passing it on. Dh will go and get tested tomorrow but it is just weird. I don't remember if I was tested with DD but I would have remembered if I tested positive and we don't have any family history. On a good note the down's tests came back as negative. Being pregnant is no joke!!
Dh has first cousins on both sides with CF. I have learned a lot about it since I married into this family. He is likely a carrier, but I was tested and am not. I'll be praying that your dh is not, but I'm here to talk if you want a sounding board.
Isn't it crazy? Ever since my miscarriage u/s, there is nothing about pregnancy I take lightly. And now I cannot stop thinking about my good friend who's dealing with a tumor and a baby with a cleft lip.

Well, we're doing it. The babe is going to begin binky detox. So far she's skipped naps all week and is biting through all her binkies. It's been a rough go. Tonight is the first night she's going down binky-free. She's not sleeping yet, but not screaming any more either. We've been doing a lot of big girl talk and even got her a care bear movie for tomorrow to show she's such a big girl (I think it's the first time we've ever got her a reward). Tomorrow is a teacher work day and I can work from home, so I hope I can keep my sanity this weekend.

Had a better day today, but got some sad news. Friends of ours who have a little guy the same age as DD, are expecting #2 just 3 weeks after us. They had their u/s today and found out that she has a tumor on her ovary that will have to be surgically removed (they don't know when yet) and that their precious little girl has a cleft lip (possibly cleft palate). They must be heartbroken and it is so much to deal with all at once. Both immediately for her health and then many years of surgeries and therapy for their daughter. If you remember them, their names are Brian and Shannon and they could use your prayers.

Also, I have some 10 free card codes that I don't have time to use right now. If you like them, pm me and I'll get them to you.
Lots of prayers for you and your friends

Gotcha. That will give you three blocks in the pool. That gives us officially 20 blocks which means 5 blocks per person. I'm setting the cutoff date as this Sunday for signing up, but I'm going to guess there aren't going to be any last minute signees.

Here's my list O' participants:
jdramirez x2, Kootz x2, Coach x2, Catram x3, mama2cole x2, Snowbear, Momami, L143smile, Bre, Chrrrris, Knott, Davewex, Snowpuppy, 88jran

I asked Kootz to give me a heads up on who has/hasn't sent in their entry fee, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all are accounted for. I don't want to engage in a future in collections.
According to your list I am needing one more from Cat, mama...Sent a T so I assuming it's for 2 spots, Need $ from Momami and Wexie nod

Guess what I saw at WAGS today? Peelies on heart-shaped boxes of chocolate. They are for $20 off one-dozen red roses at harrylondon.com. (regular cost of $59.99)....I'm surprised they are doing peelies again...nod

My house stinks now...trying to make a corn dog in the microwave this afternoon while talking on phone to Mom...supposed to set timer for 55 seconds. Well, I don't know if I set it for 5 minutes and 55 seconds Embarrassment but all of a sudden I smell something and turn to look at the microwave. Smoke is pouring out of it and I heard something crack. Scared the beejeepers out of me! Quickly turned it off and opened the door. Corndog burnt, plate broken and smoke everywhere. Thank goodness it was 60 degrees here today. I opened the windows to get rid of the smoke so alarms wouldn't go off... but now it smells so bad in here and I don't know how to get rid of it. Mad
I heard 1/2 a lemon in a dish with a bit of water will take oder out and help with cleaning it

beachy....change your air filter ASAP! it will just recirculate the yuck and hold it in if its not on. the Glade tough odor solutions spray works Very well on smoke smells from kitchen accidents..and if your microwave has a turntable soak it in water/ bleach solution for half hour or so, also wipe down the inside of the microwave and your counters and anything else with some lysol wipes or kitchen wipes. Hit the $ store and grab some of the carpet freshening foam and hose down the house with that alsoSmilie the people that lived here before us left some sort of a towel or maybe a pot holder in the oven and when the gas co came to check everything it ended up on fire and our house smelled awful. took about 2 days and it was all goneSmilie

I've tried michaels, hobby lobby, oriental trading....I'm wanting them for a paper plate sunflower and thought it would be fun for the center, I can find brown poms, but wanted a bit of fun and glitz....thanks!

Posted on facebook, but thought it's a good deal so posted here too.

I know lots of you are expecting so I thought you might find following info helpful. Disclaimer, if you use my link I will benefit, so if you think it's not right then just, go directly to the website.

Register for Mamapedia [mamapedia.com]
You get a $5 credit immediately. Then there's an offer for Parents for $5 and you can use your $5 credit. Then you can share your link with your friends, and if they buy something you get $10. Not sure if they buy something for 0.00 if you will get credit or not, but Parents for free is nice because of all the coupons inside. Amazon/Gymboree etc.

You can sign up all your cousins and friends etc. I think they need to be using the internet from their own houses though Smilie

Also deal might expire soon, not sure.

1 more thing Instead of using your $5 credit you can use coupon code couponcab4 and get $4 off so it will cost you $1, and then have your $5 to spend on something else. Plus if you actually spend money well then... see above. Haven't tried it so can't tell you if it works.

Hey JD, I know you hate Pittsburgh but love Dallas. Dallas is having a contest to give away 2 tickets to the SuperBowl. Since you are familiar with Texas, it might be worth a trip to the Burg to find the mystery man. LOL

Dream of heading off to Texas to see the Steelers take on the Green Bay Packers in the Super Bowl? Visit Dallas is hosting a contest that is giving Pittsburghers just that chance

Probably each ticket would be worth roughly $25,000 apiece just for the tickets," said the bureau's Phillip Jones. "There's a four night minimum for all hotels in Dallas and the average room rate is $400 to $500 a night, so you add another couple thousand dollars for that."

This would be a great time to experience the Super Bowl, and it's built around the VisitDallas Facebook page.

"You'll be given clues progressively, starting Friday. If no one gets it on Friday, then on Saturday, and finally on Sunday to look for this mystery man who will be circulating around downtown Pittsburgh,"

The Pittsburgh winner will be the first person to successfully solve a mystery, and find that mystery man in the heart of Steelers country.

"Let's say hypothetically one of the clues is, 'What is the tallest building in Dallas?" The answer is the Bank of America Building. If you know that, you probably want to go to the tallest building in Pittsburgh and look for the mystery man," says Jones. "It will be clues like that that will hopefully get people engaged in what a great destination Dallas is, what there is to see and do in the week leading up to the Super Bowl, and ultimately win two tickets to the game itself."
