Need to fire up the Keurig.. Coffee will be much appreciated today. My DH didn't put my DD to bed until 11:30 last night.. and she was up before 7 am.. it is gonna be a long day!
But, today is her birthday! I can't believe she is 3 already.. time is going by way too fast and I don't like it at all.. I don't want my baby to grow up! I have no idea exactly what we are going to do for her birthday.. Thankfully at her age, she doesn't really care
I started having eye pain last night while at work.. Feeling like a stye was coming on.. When I got home last night, almost my entire eye lid was puffy and red.. I remember someone on here had a really bad problem a few months ago.. I started with the warm compress.. It made it feel better but it is pretty sore this morning.. Hoping this day improves!
what counts as expensive? 5 bucks for 25 - is that too much?

that sounds great. pork chops aren't liked around here, but i could make it with chicken. and no crockpot here, but i could use a regular pot on low heat right? or bake in oven with soup right?
what's this flour dredging business teri mentioned? rub dry sage on chicken, then dredge in flour and brown? is that it?
I don't know what teri means exactly, but when I "dredge" something it usually involves a liquid too. i.e. for me, I'd take the pork chop and do both sides in a flour/spice mix. Then I would dunk it in buttermilk or egg mix, then back into whatever coating (bread crumbs w/my spices or flour with my spices), then in the pan.
If you don't have a crockpot, I would suggest the oven on low heat (i.e. 250/275ish) for several hours. Should make 'em perfect.
there is an easy way to fix that, you know.

My DD gets styes and pink eye a lot. Hot compresses and time work the best. We also use that similisarilin (or however you spell it) stuff - seems to help or at least soothe her eyes. I know they can be very painful - sorry you have to go through it!

hot compresses are great for styes and pink eyes!
but you also need to make sure to wash the eye. if you have any refresh eye drops that's best. if you're going to buy some, get the kind that says refresh plus, preservative free and comes in individual vials, so as not to put a bottle to your infected eye. refresh is essentially sterile saline solution but has the same composition as your natural tears and so is very good to clean out your eye and lubricate it.
if you don't have refresh and can't get any, use a clean small glass bowl, fill it with cold water, place face down so the bowl "cups" your eye, then raise head to rinse out inside of eye with the water. you'll feel the water get all warm. do it a few times a day, although refresh is easier to do and better.
the idea is to clean out the infection gunk from inside your eye and keep the eye lubricated. the dryness is probably making it feel more sore. heated homes in the winter don't help.

are you guys using condensed cream of mush soup or regular consistency? i have condensed organic soup. figure i can dilute it with some skim milk.
we're in the midst of another winter storm. i had thought i could request someone to drive me to the store today.
but next chance i get this chicken recipe and a breaded lemon chicken are both on my todo list as easy recipes that don't need much work from me right now.

And my mom wants my sisters and me to sing at the funeral. Not sure how I'll be able to manage that.

About the compress: I was told not to use a washcloth, as it loses the heat too rapidly. You want to use as a compress that's as hot as you can stand. I made a small bag, about the size of an eyeglass case, and filled it with dry rice. 30 seconds in the microwave (+/-) and leave it on for 5 minutes. Twice a day. Helps the glands in the eyelids secrete whatever it is they do.
Getgreen is right on about the type of eyedrops. Be sure you don't use the same vial for both eyes. You don't want to cross-contaminate.
