I didn't go today. Was supposed to, but about 90 things got in the way. DH likes to go late, but I think I am going to have to go early cuz I don't get it done if I don't.

I used to plan meals all the time, but haven't for a while. That's probably why I feel Whee all the time. Well, the other reason is that I have been trying to eat fresher and I end up shopping for maybe 1-2 days ahead most of the time. Dunno... I'm thinking about starting up some freezer meals again. After eating the TGIF's, it was so easy and quick that I miss that. I figure I could try 2 weeks worth of meals - or up to 1 month. Still thinking on it. It's gonna take some major planning though. I usually just buy my food as I go so I can make use of potential overages when possible - but I may have to just buy up a month of food at once and go for it.

DD will be 3 here within a couple weeks and hasn't had her first yet. And her hair STILL isn't much over her ears. It has grown some but not much.

I am fine with that though....I think. She started sleeping w/o diapers at night this week. She'd been dry for sooooo long in the mornings but I didn't wanna give up the diapers laugh out loud One more 'baby' thing gone Crying

Thank you all for the words, thoughts, and hugs. I'm doing okay. My oldest DD is more torn up than I realized she'd be, and I think DH will be also - though the last time I talked to him he said he was just "numb". I suspect he's holding it together so he can get through work. Need to snuggle that man a lot I think. Smilie

Flug - you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers too.

hug Ya'll are the bestest.

Dreeme - wow... you are an amazing and generous person.

Dia - thinking of you too!

hug to you all!!
Awe sorry Ank.. Give DH some extra snuggling tonight.. Prayers for your family!

I do better if I get my exercise over with early too.. I wish I could go back to the gym. I liked the variety and workout at the gym.. But, right now, there is just no time. The gym is almost 30 minutes from my house, so the drive time alone is 1 hour, plus 45 min -1 hour at the gym is hard to find time for right now.. If my DS had a car, it would be helpful!

The freezing idea is kinda what I was thinking too.. Some days I just don't know what I want too much ahead of time.. And, I actually have freezer space now, so, I really *could* do that. Every time I make chili, spaghetti, soup, etc, I always think I should make a double batch and freeze it, but I never do..
A friend of mine was telling me she buys a ton of meat when they mark it down, and she comes home and cooks it all that day.. Browns the ground beef and bags it up for future meals, and she fills her crockpot with chicken and lets it cook all day and then bags that in small bags for the freezer. She told me that way she just pulls out a bag and makes chicken tacos, pot pie, etc.. I have done the ground beef before, but it was only because I had a bunch thawed and didn't want to refreeze it, so I cooked it first.
I did try one thing she mentioned that I never thought of.. I took a 3 pound pack of ground beef and made hamburger patties and put them on a plate in the freezer until they were hard, then placed them in a ziploc bag.. It was kinda like the convenience of having bubba burgers, with a fraction of the cost. DH used them for a quick meal last week when I was working..

I do still miss diapers when we are in the car and I hear "I gotta potty" and when we are in every store known to man and must visit the bathroom LMAO

I still use baby shampoo for the smell.. and I still rock her before bed every night Wink more for me than for her I am sure.. but I love my cuddle time

My grandma has her ups and downs right now. Sometimes she understands what is happening and other times she doesn't. She was sent out of the room again today, because she couldn't stop bothering grandpa, and my aunt and dad were sitting with her. She asked if grandpa was going to be ok, and dad told her that he was very sick. She just hung her head and started crying, saying "What am I going to do without him?" The hospice nurses have warned my dad and my aunt that couples that are so close like this, so dependent on each other, when one dies, the other follows pretty close behind. Especially when they are not completely there mentally, like my grandma.

I am so thankful for such a sweet heritage - I am well aware that not everyone is blessed like this, as was evident just a couple weeks ago with my hubby's grandfather's passing.

OK, now its time to get my shopping list together and get out the door. Have a great evening, everyone!!

when i go to the supermarket/produce market/asian market i try to pick up at least 3 different kinds of veggies, whatever is in season and on sale. if i buy red or green peppers, i try to also buy mushrooms. i always have some onions on hand. frozen peas and canned corn for emergencies. frozen bagged veggie mixes when i can get them cheap or free for emergency also.

then i plan my meals around the veggies i bought for the week and whatever meat i bought or have in the freezer.

certain veggies i usually stir fry b/c we definitely eat more veggies, less meat that way.

so if i buy broccoli, it usually gets stir fried w/ onions, red pepper for color and either shrimp, chicken, maybe beef. dh and i eat one bunch of broccoli, a small onion and half lb of meat this way. if i have mushrooms, i'll throw that in too.

if i buy peppers and i have mushrooms, since i like pasta, i will make a pot of pasta, peppers, mushrooms and onions usually w/ chicken, sausage or ground turkey. dh doesn't like peppers but won't complain if i cook them this way.

asparagus usually gets stir fried w/ shrimp, chicken, ham or beef, onion and mushrooms if i have them.

i buy steelhead salmon every time i go to costco b/c they say to stay away from farmed atlantic salmon. since it's fish and we have to eat it right away, i plan the veggie around the salmon. if ribs or pork chops are cheap then i plan the veggie around them.

during the winter i try to make a noodle soup for dinner at least once/wk. so whatever veggie will work in soup and then whatever meat w/ go w/ it, usually chicken, ham or shrimp. i don't like beef in soup. ok in stew.

b/c my supermarket runs a lot of wed-fri specials, i don't go to the supermarket till wed or fri (thurs they are usually all out of the sale items and you end up w/ a bunch of rainchecks). and then for whatever reason, we are usually out and about at least a couple times/wk and don't eat at home so if i buy more than 3 meals of veggies they end up being over a wk old and by that time i'm going to the supermarket again. this wk dh got preview tix to the mechanics at 7pm tomorrow at a mall at least an hr away so we will be eating out. saturday we are going to a banquet. this wk there are the usual w-f specials so if i went to the supermarket tomorrow i would get veggies for th, fr, and maybe sunday. veggies are cheaper in chinatown, so i would buy some b4 the banquet for next m,t,w and then i'm going to the supermarket again.

the bottom line is i always know the nite b4 what i'm going to cook for dinner. what veggie i'm going to cook and if i need to defrost something i'll take it out then. if meat needs to be marinated, i'll do it the nite b4. if shrimp is involved i'm usually lazy about that and just defrost under cold running water while i'm preparing dinner.
You are so organized, as always Smilie

After talking with the doctors, the family decided to not do the surgery, take her off of dialysis, and take her home and have hospice come in. Hospice will keep her comfortable and wait for her to pass. No idea how long it will take - they said it will depend on when the kidneys shut down. I had to call dh and let him know, and while he knew her time was likely to be sooner rather than later, he's pretty shocked right now. heart Please pray for him - I think this will be especially hard for him.

Well, I got sick and tired of trying to sell off my stockpile so I posted on craigslist that it was free. People came by the van-load. Some super greedy and pissing me off, others conservative and greatful. Then this one guy came by that goes to a local church. He didn't really want much, just some cough drops. He was very nice, didn't plead his case, nothing. I offered to give him the rest. The look on his face was priceless. I let the greedy people finish loading up their bags and boxes and waited for them to leave. The guy went and got a trailer and came back and we filled it from the front to the back with all my stockpile stuff. (with the exception of 2 tubs of stuff that I'm keeping)

He's coming back tomorrow to get a bed, dresser, and patio furniture we don't need. He's also going to haul off all the bags and bags of crap that we've had to toss out and boxes we don't need. So awesome.

Anyhow. I did my good deed for a long time. Smilie

if target chooses to continue as they have been, it's possible not much would change.

Williams pointed out that a retailer could choose not to validate what's in the DataBar — such as the expiration date or multiple product purchase requirements — just as some retailers don't validate the family code in the UPC-A code. "Compliance is voluntary — there's no coupon police," he said. "But then they would be at risk for not meeting the manufacturer's requirements and not getting reimbursed." Most mainline retailers intend to comply, he added.

My older daughter just got her first haircut right before my son started school, in August. She turned 4 in December, so she was almost 4 years old. There just was not enough hair to cut! And it grew rather oddly, longer in the back and short on the sides. She was kind of looking a little freakish, so I brought her in just to even it all out.
