Skippy is 2.29 at my store.

I didn't actually get to shop though - too short on time. Frown

We went to church tonight and I came home, put the kids to bed and then after a bit decided I'd take a quick little "just gonna close my eyes for a few minutes" nap... yeah. That was at 9:15 and now I'm finally up. *sigh*

When DH came home from work today he said he thinks it's starting to hit him about his grandmother. He's been recounting memories and things about his grandparents all day. It's sweet and sad to watch at the same time. He said it amazes him how much it's affecting him and how connected he is/was with his family. He said he just never realized before about how deeply he's connected to his family. I think it's a weird surreal feeling still for him. heart

Hope ya'll are doing good.

I like the Mohawk brand ones. When we had gas heat, we had one on each floor, preferably in a central area.

I haven't been stalking them, have been trying to stay away but as someone else pointed out, I almost never have seen them below 50% off.

We have a few of the Ninja sets and last weekend ds went to the Lego store for one of the monthly club meetings. He had a lot of fun. Big Grin This month's theme was Ninjago, next month is Space Police. Haven't decided if I will sign him up for that one.
Oh sounds like lots of fun... I think I will end up buying both the sets, pharoahs and Ninjago..its just sooooooo expensive... we still have the TS3 and some of the city me thinks that they havent played with yet...

Oh and I wanted all girls too...lol boys are a whole different topic lmao

slow - do you have a good recipe for hot & sour soup? There is a restaurant in Ohio that had the absolute best that I've ever had and I've never been able to find it with the same flavor anywhere else!

Mavis sits up for a while when you prop her up now. (I know... pics pics pics...) She is just amazing. She tries to sit up and it looks like she's doing these funny straight-legged crunches sometimes. laugh out loud I swear she said "rhebekka" the other day. I know... crazy. But it sounded like that! She is all smiles and squeals and giggles. I"m lovin' it! The only "bad" thing lately is that I've had her in these flannel sleepers and apparently she's been getting sweaty feet because her little feet actually smell funny!

I am excited - we filed our taxes and will hopefully have the $$ by the end of next week at the latest. I'm expecting that we'll rearrange some of our spending plan for the money to have some reserve to travel to Ohio for grandma's funeral, but we are going to pay a large chunk to our last bill - my student loan. Once that is done, we can start looking for a house! DH thinks we'll be ready to look for a house by this time next year! The rest of the money will go for our emergency fund, DD's schooling, and clothes for me/dd/dh.

Not weird at all... I come in and try to read everyone's posts... and when I get time.. which seems to be something I am very short of as of lately... I attempt to respond back to everyone... my dh thinks I am a crazy person b/c I talk about TCC peeps often... and he laughs at me Smilie

So when is your "friend" suppose to come...maybe a retest is in order... you know it would be FUN to see all your cravings again Smilie

So... I guess I'm waiting. I think I'll retest next week and if I get a negative again, I'll make a doc appt. Nausea is nooooooo fun. Frown

Totally understand what you mean about the house. I hope you guys find a great one with everything you want and need!

They grow up so fast, don't they? Mavis is already 5 mos old and I can't believe it. She loves to push up with her legs and "stand", so that makes me sad. She just has no interest in being my little snuggle-buggle baby. Sadwalk She is already pushing up onto her knees even. I had her on her little gym toy mat thingy while doing dishes today, and she managed to flip herself over onto her belly and scooch forward off of her mat and grab a stray leaf that someone tracked in the house. She was trying to eat the darn thing!!! Man, when she wants to, she can really move.

We have a dear friend that has an 8month old. She said she never puts her in a standing position and has just this past week given her her first taste of food - rice cereal. She can't stand to see her baby growing up so fast!

I will miss the baby stages too. heart

If you don't me asking, how is it going with the claim? I mentioned that my brother was recently hit by a driver running a red light. and his car is also totaled.

The other guy hired a lawyer to fight the claim. OMG Even though the police cited him, witnesses all say the guy ran a red light, and my brother was told that they don't know when they will be able to close the claim for his car, and their medical bills. He had to take my SIL to the ER Sunday because she was in so much pain. It made me think of you. hug

I told my brother he needs to get a lawyer too. He doesn't want to but sounds like he may have no choice.
is on standstill.
no resolution yet.
i might need lawyer route.

your brother had insurance right? if so, he doesn't need to fight the other person's insurance company. just go through his own company. as for health insurance, what is the law in your state? generally if you have personal injury protection (included in most policies) your own car insurance company has to pay. you just give the claim number at the ER and the doc's offices. and keep rcpts for everything. everything.

generally your insurance will give you the money and then go after their insurance. but you want to be careful - both insurance companies are trying to get out of paying. tell him not give them anymore statements, because he doesn't want to be left holding the bag.

i will pray for him.

as for your sisterinlaw hurting - you will generally hurt a lot more the next day and a few days down the line as the injuries set in, the adrenaline levels go down and the muscles tighten up in reaction. tell her to pay attention to all the aches and pains and get medical help asap. lots of people have that experience - pain comes later. and lasts for months or years. my aunt had whiplash after a guy hit a car while she was riding in the backseat. she didn't pay attention right away. it changed her life - she had pain every day, could not lift things, etc, etc. getting physical therapy and massage therapy helped with pain but never solved it, cos it wasn't done when the injuries were fresh and her body compensated in other wierd ways messing things up more.

today i went to get some soup out from stockpile. had to pick up a box with chocolate and a box with some crackers from shelf to get to soup. no bending. at arm level. maybe 2 pound boxes. that's it. i have had pain in my chest and difficulty breathing since i did that. it's ridiculous. but that is how badly my body was hurt inside. if you see me sitting and you don't see the bruises on my knee (still there) you won't know there is anything wrong with me. maybe a big belly but that could be fat. you know? i say that not to garner sympathy but to point out that we could have a lot of damage inside and not even know. you have to pay attention to the signs your body is giving.

atleast he is talking about how he is feeling and what he is thinking. that's important. losing someone dear to you is jarring at the least, and makes you rethink family, the people you care about, the fragility of life. it's unsettling and makes you weigh a lot. he probably has a ton going through his heart and mind right now. glad he has you and your love and support and compassion.

Comfort I can't tell you how much I wish there was something I could do to help you not hurt!

I was in a car accident about 12ish years ago. Messed me up very badly - and worse than I had ever expected. To this day I still have problems and probably always will with my neck. I agree about seeking medical help right away. It's very important to listen to your body and realize that a lot more could be going on inside than is apparent from looking at you on the outside.

I think DH has been thinking about a zillion things at once and this is really kind of making the fragility of life sink in. I noticed he's much more patient with the girls the past couple of days - and even more playful with them than normal (which is a lot as it is!) He's been surprised at how much it's affecting him, but I had to remind him that it was okay and that he's been through a lot of changes in a very short time period. His grandfather had passed away a little over a year ago, and now with grandma passing it's like a whole different kind of finality that is settling in for him. These are the 2 closest and biggest deaths/losses he's ever had to deal with, so it's a whole new experience. He's never had to learn how to cope with grief before.

i was 6 or so when i lost my paternal grandmother. had never been close to her but i still remember feeling very sad that i hadn't gotten to know her and never would. but i remember my father - a big, strong man whom I had never before seen crying or being vulnerable - was just torn apart. he tried not to cry in front of us, but would break into tears if he checked up on him. he was redeyed and unshaven for the days leading upto funeral.a and then even after the funeral, daddy walked around the house unseeing. he went to work in a daze. his world was broken - he'd lost his father when he was but a teen. and losing his mum just really really hurt. it was my first encounter with grief and loss. i hurt because my daddy was hurting. even thinking about it all these years later hurts me.
i lost my maternal grandfather -- my only other living grandparent, and one i was very very very very close to - when i was 13.
i still haven't recovered from it. i still miss him terribly.
there were more losses to come in the years ahead, each very heartbreaking, each changed my life completely. BUT, i will say that the first brush with grief/loss is one that changes you in certain ways and shakes you up. particularly your grandparents, because now you know, everything comes to an end, and it means you will lose others you love. horrible.

i am so sorry your husband is going through this. hug

flug thinking about you and praying for you guys.

g'morning everyone! just checking in so i'm accted for.

17 inches of snow last nite! yesterday the forecast was 6-10 so thought i might have the chance to check out all the juicy clearance i've been reading about in deals today. NOT!!! woke up to see a neighbor trying to get his car unstuck from the street and pull back into his garage. a bunch of other neighbors were standing around. they had probably helped unstick him. maybe friday i will go to a further but bigger target and skip the supermarket for the 3rd wk in a row since i have plenty of food in the pantry and freezer still. just need oj and bread and i could suffer getting bread at target if there is a deal to make up for paying a little more.

you know how when you carry an umbrella b/c it's supposed to rain and then it doesn't?

well, we have a 2 stage practically new snowthrower that needs to be serviced b/c the engine is all gunked up. for some unknown reason dh has not wanted to take it in and has been doing all the shoveling by himself. it's a $600 hunk of useless metal hogging up space in our not so big garage. so what happens? we have the snowiest january on record.

the snowstorm was actually a 2-parter and dh shoveled 5-6 inches yesterday but it looks like he didn't do anything. i know i will have to go out this time and help shovel. the township snowplow pushes the salt/snow/ice combo into the entrance and that's always the heaviest and toughest part to clear. snowthrowers usually don't work on that stuff. just hard manual labor. so that's what i'll be doing today.

*sigh* I feel miserable today. Sick

Slowtech - yikes on the snow! We're cold here, but no snow. Kind of wish we had gotten some so I don't have to think about going out. laugh out loud

Apparently my oldest is allergic to Cheer for dark colors. She's got a nasty rash all over where her clothes rest against her skin.
