Dreeme, I have just a little bit of warning for you. Now, if you are far enough south in MO, you will be ok. But if you are the least little bit too far north, you NEED to know this. DON'T drink the iced tea. You are probably about to enter the zone of "what in the hell IS this brown stuff you just brought me"? Seriously, you get too far north and I think "how to make sweet tea gene" is missing. I think it froze in the cold. True story. I live in Iowa, I know about this.

I just realized I have 2 chest freezers and 2 fridge freezers.....I would really hate to lose ALL my frozen goods.
You would probably be fine. The fuller your freezers are, the better -- the colder they will stay. Your freezers could be left unplugged easily for a 2 or 3 days as long as they are full and not opened. As in don't open the door and peek just to make sure. You could also put a block of dry ice in there. Ice cream might not make it.

You can load them last so they are plugged in the longest, then unloaded and replugged first. Or, if they need to loaded sooner, plug them into a long drop cord and hook it up high so you can reach it to unplug it. If they are on the end of the truck and you get in late, just string a drop cord out there to the truck... of course, you have to remember to leave on out!

Sheesh. Want to come to my house?? So far, I've gotten the kids fed, mostly dressed, and had a cup of tea.

Hope you are feeling a lot better today. hug

I am coming down with a cold now. Frown Blah. Sore throat, runny nose, yada yada. When will this end??

Hope all of you who are ill get lots of rest and feel much better very soon.

DH's grandmother is more and more childlike each day, my MIL says. She mumbles a lot, but what they can make out isn't really sensible. DH's aunt is having a very hard time. They all are, really, but she's the one that is showing it the most. I don't know who to worry about more - her or everyone who is putting on a stiff upper lip!

I still feel Sick Took another test and it's still negative. Dunno... maybe I'm just carrying back to back viruses or something.

I think we might make a trip to the town with stores this weekend. We bought a water heater at Menards not quite two weeks ago and it has gone on sale for ~$20 less. They will price adjust but I have to do it in person. Wouldn't necessarily be worth the drive + gas cost but we are getting ready to build another room, so we could take a look at some stuff while we are there.

So just in case, I guess I'd better take a look at whats going on at Target since it's right across the street from Menards. I don't need any Legos. What the heck is going on? Don't they know that Christmas and Christmas clearance is over? We need deals. Good deals. Free deals. Food and stuff.

All you toddler moms... can I get some advice/opinions?

My 3 y.o. is constantly saying she's hungry and trying to skitch food from the fridge. This morning, she's had a hearty serving of oatmeal with cranberries, 1 1/2 scrambled eggs, 1 whole orange, 1 apple, and a piece of toast. She still says she's hungry.

This seems like a lot of food - am I worrying for nothing, or is this normal for a toddler? It just seems like she's constantly eating.

Yesterday, she had pretty much the same thing by this time, and then by lunch time she had had a granola bar, a 1/2 cup of cheerios with milk, about 1/4 cup of broccoli with cheese, and some frozen blueberries. Then she ate lunch (which I can't remember what it was right now), had an apple and a banana in the afternoon, and would only eat part of her dinner because she said she didn't like it - but complained of being hungry all evening until bed. I think she had something else in there too, but I can't remember.

Is that normal?

nod YES we moved 2 freezers. DH froze water in some big "to go" containers (I am sure your DH has some at work--the plastic ones like tupperware?) to make big ice packs...then he unpacked everything from the freezer, loaded the freezers onto the truck and then repacked the food & ice packs. This gave us the opportunity to go through the stuff on the bottoms of the freezers and throw out/give away what we knew we'd never eat. He loaded the freezers on last so they came off the truck first and he kept them plugged in until the very last minute (literally right before he drove out of our driveway Coverlaugh) with an extension cord. There was NO outlet on the truck we rented---Just don't open the freezer until it's ready to be plugged back in. The freezer was unplugged for 4 1/2 days and everything was still completely frozen. Great ideas.. How are things going for you gator? Getting all settled in?

Poor thing hug you have been feeling ill for awhile now. I can't stand that nausea feeling for a day. Thankfully I was never really sick too much even with 5 pregnancies.. I can't imagine your body would get that many viruses.. If you keep feeling that way, you may need to go to the doctor.

Hope you feel better soon! And I know, it is even worse when you are a mommy and can't take time to rest and relax as you would like Hug2

(I can't remember how much they are, but I wouldn't think more than $4, are they?)

Just looked at these today- they were 3.14 either TPC or weekly sale I can't remember. Regular OM lunch meat was 2.74 sale.
Looks like Oscar Mayer Carving Board items would be $0.39 after TQ and MQ.

My T does not carry these so not positive about the price.

Sounds like a growth spurt is about to occur. Don't worry too much about it but don't let her start getting fat either. No, I am not advocating dieting babies. They do that. There is also nothing wrong with saying no if you don't think she needs it. Next week she may not eat hardly anything and you'll wonder why she doesn't keel over.

In my opinion, toddlers are so unpredictable with eating anyway.. Some days mine would eat a ton, and other days hardly anything.. I was just commenting yesterday that since my DD turned 3 last week, it seems like her appetite has picked up. I think they also are like babies.. when they have growth spurts or are more active, they eat more.
I personally wouldn't worry about it.. Seems like she is eating healthy foods.. As long as it isn't junk food, and she still eats her meals, I would let her snack..

I know some people really stress about the whole meal thing. I have a friend who gets alot of hassle from her MIL about her son and his eating.. and I know some people on here have mentioned being much more controlled with meals, etc.. Everyone has their own feelings and parenting ideas.. For me, I have always gone with the philosophy they will eat when they are hungry and I don't stress about it. Some days she doesn't want to eat with us at dinner time, so I don't push it. I just leave her plate there in case she wants it. Some days she does more of the frequent small meal/snack type stuff rather than a full meal. As long as her meals aren't replaced with chips rather than food, which she does beg for, I am okay.. I even give in sometimes and just let her have peanut butter sandwich if she doesn't eat dinner and she is hungry before bedtime..

Is she drinking enough? I know they say many times we confuse hunger with thirst.. I have also found my DD will say she is hungry when she isn't.. Just because she is "bored:", doesn't want to go to bed, or just because it sounds good. If I don't think she really is, I can' usually distract her with something else, and she doesn't mention it again, so I assume she really wasn't. Just a thought!

Yep, as long as that door stays shut stuff will stay frozen for a few days.

I agree with the growth spurt, but totally disagree with the bolded. When Mini Thrift was little she would always grow out a bit (full in the face etc) before she was about to grow up. Her body needed that stored energy to shoot up. For those of you that see her current pictures on FB, y'all know she's a twig and she still eats like she has a hollow leg.

All my kids so far have been born with a little bit of black hair that falls out and then comes in blond. They have all ended up as brunetts so far, well except DS he is still in the blond stage. I used to be blond when I was little too but now have brown hair. I used to get highlights often but haven't done that in 5 or so years.

I had no idea a freezer could go that long and stay frozen not plugged in. When we moved we left our fridge and didn't have a seperate freezer so we didn't even think about that. Now we have a upright freezer and it is pretty stuffed but also pretty unorganized too. If/when we move we are taking it with us, nice to know we can keep it full. I wish it was full of meat, but no, mostly those morning star meatless things that were free a while back, and frozen veggies except corn, we ran out of corn, and TGIF. I have maybe three pounds of hamburger and one bag of frozen chicken tenderloins. We could really use some good meats.

ank` it seems like all my kids do that where they will be super hungry and eat and eat and then they go through stages where they won't eat too. I think it is normal. I have also noticed just when their cheeks and tummys seem to really fill out and they kinda start to look a little chubby they have a growth spurt and get tall and thin again. I hope you start feeling better too, so weird that you have been feeling sick for so long, all those hormones must not be playing nice.

Dreem, good luck with moving everything in, gosh just the thought of moving is exhausting.

l2b, TY, I am trying to get my coupons printed and cut so I can get to the store before noon, well one can hope. It is already 10:15 and so much to do, I haven't even found my Healthy Choice yet, I know I didn't cut them so they are in one of those piles over there -----> lol.

I found some $2 TGIF peelies on the TGIF cheese sticks and saw the new TGIF TQ any one know if the TQ is playing nice like last time?

DS is playing gymnastics on me he is not letting me get anything done, oy! He is a terrible shopper too. Ugh!

GG it does seem like it has been a lot longer than 5 weeks since you got hurt. I know it feels that way to you too especailly after endless nights and days of pain. Just being sick and so stuffy and coughing up a lung I have had three nights where I couldn't sleep and was up constantly hacking, sweating, in pain and sore and I was miserable! I can only imagine the horror you have been going through. hug And your family, I am sure it is hard on them, altough not nearly as hard as it has been on you but it is difficult to see the ones you love in pain.
Comfort

I guess I better spend some time with monkey boy here and then clip, clip, clip and get my behind to T. And do some wash. Since we were all so sick last weekend we decided to have the 2 yr party for monkey boy this Saturday. Hopefully my voice returns to somewhat normal so they are not all scared I will get them sick. I hate that when I get sick my voice goes and all I am left with are squeaks and whispers.

Ank, before I had my gallbladder out, I had the same symptoms as you. Actually thought I was prego as well. Never had an 'attack' just always felt nauseated. Try a completely fat free diet for a day, and see if that helps at all. Not fun, but helped me get diagnosed.

I guess I won't worry much then. I've been trying to pump the water in her in case she's thirsty. Who knows. Toddlers are just plain weird. It seems like we just went through a growth spurt and at this rate, all the clothes I had picked up for summer are NOT going to fit!! She's practically ready to be wearing many of her dresses as shirts now!

Yeah - I noticed my toddler gets "chubby" for a while, then long and leggy. laugh out loud I guess I won't worry and just keep pumping her full of healthy options.

I had my gallbladder out about 10-12 years ago or so, so I don't know. I am pretty much ready to try anything though. Being nauseated really stinks. Frown Maybe I just have acid reflux or something. Blah.

I haven't been "Targeting" much lately (yes, there IS hope for a life outside of Target.. and Walgreens.. and... hahah, who am I kidding, there's always a stash of coupons in my purse and car), but I have to head out to Target later to pick up a gift and while I was trying to catch up on the current deals I discovered that there must have been a change to my "Document" account.. I can't get into it now, the password I had saved isn't the correct one. Argghh. Don't you hate when that happens?

So now I'm on stage 2, reading the pages in the Target Deal thread to catch up...and trying to find the matching coupons on Target's website.. click, click, click... I wish Target had a search for coupon feature!

If you really think there is an issue, try feeding her grain-free for few days -- see if she still says she's hungry. There is a condition called "Celiac" that is very common (1 in 133 people have it) -- it's the inability to digest the protein found in wheat and related grains (the protein is called "gluten"). Those who have it suffer from mal-absorption (their bodies aren't able to pull the nutrients out of their foods), tummy-aches, gas, and a host of other problems if they continue to eat wheat. I know about it because I have it -- and was never diagnosed as a child (it's under-diagnosed in the USA, not so in other countries) despite a childhood of stomach aches and being way too skinny -- I ended up with autoimmune issues (thyroid disease) because of it -- all now under control because I've been gluten-free for over 10 years now...
