Ok, is multi-quote not working for anyone else? Thanks for all the nice words. I'm glad others need a mommy time out sometimes as well. Teehee

DH showed up tonight with a pink box from the best cupcake store in town and 2 chocolate cupcakes in it for me. I immediately started sobbing.

yep, I agree that multi-quote isn't working (or the pulldowns either... PITA to have to go to the forums directory to get here).

Anyway, Publix folks remember this post, when someone asked how to make good iced tea.

Hover wasn't working, but is now, but I'll try to remember that in the future.

I can't wait until slowtech gets back on, as the deal alert for me was set up in Cedar Rapids. Pardon me Iowa folks, but WHERE? I finally figured out how to set it locally (hopefully Huntsville [no state seen] is Alabama and not Texas).

Why can't SD pop up a small help box to show "enhancements" and how to fix or change the settings, etc when they roll out a new feature?

Wave I don't like change, but I've eventually gotten used to the notification dealio.

I saw that. WTF... they are coming out of the woodwork around here!

Do you guys ever feel like your children are driving you insane? I have been really struggling the last few days with DS. He is on my LAST NERVE. Nothing really in particular that he's doing, just general annoyingness. I feel like a totally $hitty mom for feeling that way. Yesterday I snapped at him for something and then I felt horrible about it. Ugh. This parenting thing is tough. Hopefully I can get away from these lunatics this weekend for a couple hours and all will be right with the world.

Oh... and both my kids were born with blond hair. DS had a FULL head of thick white "billy idol" hair. I should see if I can find a picture. It was really amazing. The pediatrician told us that in 20 years, he's never seen a blond baby with so much hair. DD's hair is super long now. I put it in pigtails this morning and it sticks up so high now like chicken hair.
Definitely! I find an hour or two of "me" shopping time (meaning deal shopping, but no kids) works wonders, usually accompanied by a big-as-you-can-make-it latte. Big Grin My one daughter is at a stage where she is asking all kinds of questions, usually ones that just don't make sense. Nothing gets me more irritated than a child repeating a nonsensical question over and over and over. Not sure why it gets to me...

I'm not in the siggy... Sadwalk

you chattering creatures have been talking up a storm today.
so everyone has already given you freezing advice. my turn:
if you ask friendly grocery stores around you, they likely have extra dry ice that comes in packages. just pack lots of dry ice along bottom and sides, in between each food layer and again on top. keep freezer plugged till end as gator said. and once unplugged seal tightly. if you're traveling in the summer, make sure to put something like a wooden dresser or such against the truck wall (something that doesn't conduct heat well) and then put freezer. and if the freezer is almost the last thing in truck, put mattresses against the freezer before lowering the truck door, so they keep out the hot air drafts from under the door. essentially you want to insulate the inside and outside of the freezer.

DH's grandmother is more and more childlike each day, my MIL says. She mumbles a lot, but what they can make out isn't really sensible. DH's aunt is having a very hard time. They all are, really, but she's the one that is showing it the most. I don't know who to worry about more - her or everyone who is putting on a stiff upper lip!

I still feel sick Took another test and it's still negative. Dunno... maybe I'm just carrying back to back viruses or something.
hug on grandmum. that is so hard and so sad.

feeling sick... do you like ginger? or would you consider having some?
nausea has been my constant companion since i was a kid. when my body doesn't like something, the first thing it does is - nausea!
here's what mum did for me as a kid and i still do it: cut fresh ginger into thin strips or small pieces (strips generally works better cos it's less fibrous that way). sprinkle a pinch of salt, and juice of half a lemon. mix well. chew on the ginger pieces. ginger has powerful anti-nausea properties. usually this will get rid of nausea, indigestion, and even help reduce heartburn.

second thing - near constant nausea like you are having needs checking out cos it is a sign that something is awry. can you jot down some triggers? does stress trigger it? does eat something fattening/fried/meaty trigger it (could be pancreas or liver issues)? does it get worse or better before your period (hormonal imbalance)? any difficulty/discomfort while urinating or excessive thirst ( could be UTI or kidney or bladder infection)? are you congested (phlegm can cause nausea, as can sinus infections)? does it get worse after you have spent some time on the computer or while reading something (changes in eyeglass prescriptions/eyestrain can cause nausea)? or are there other symptoms with it, like constipation, or shortness of breath or dizziness or vertigo or feeling hot or cold, or tummy ache or a feeling of pressure anywhere on your body?

it's worth noting the answers to these and getting thineself to a doc, girly! too many days of guesswork.

hug praying you feel better!

GG it does seem like it has been a lot longer than 5 weeks since you got hurt. I know it feels that way to you too especailly after endless nights and days of pain. Just being sick and so stuffy and coughing up a lung I have had three nights where I couldn't sleep and was up constantly hacking, sweating, in pain and sore and I was miserable! ....
sweetie that sounds plain icky! i am so sorry you're feeling so sick.
i always lose my voice when i get sick. my remedy ricola tea - get the regular kind, not sugar free, the kind that comes in a yellow bag with herb pictures on it. put two in a mug. pour hot water in mug. stir till they melt. drink that tea every few hours. it really soothes a sore throat and reduces coughing and does so without nasty chemicals.
if i get a really bad dry cough, which has happened to me a few times, i resort to the dry cough robitussin and ricola tea. that robitussin tastes uber nasty but it does work.
also, got any ester c at home? take 2-3000 mg a day for 2-3 days. it will zap the infections. just make sure to spread out the ester c intake throughout the day cos your body discards any excess vitamin c in urine. so if you take it all at once, anything that isn't used soon is out. smaller doses throughout the day make better use.

thank you for the good wishes and thinking of me! this process of physical healing is so very slow. a good reminder to take care of ourselves.
i realize i am much better today than i was 5 weeks ago, in that i can get dressed undressed or sit up or lie down without help, ditto showering, etc. but i so want to do more, be normal again. i haven't left the house in 3 weeks! and i hadn't gone down the stairs in more than 2 weeks. just too painful. tried doing so today and tried sealing a box with packing tape. that was enough - i have burning pain in my knee, abdomen and shoulder. again. and the shortness of breath is back with the intensified pain. so annoying.

patience is a virtue, right? we need to be patient with our hurting bodies.

sending prayers and comfort your way for speedy healing!

sweetie that ain't normal, not even with the procedure you had. should have the doc check to see if there is some scarring or pulling that is causing pain. it should not be like that.

Quote from Kay12 :
Oh dear...I have found them rarely at my WF, so i always print them off their website..

i loved that $1 off Muir glen coupons.. missing it so much
..
awww adorable baby pics. and holy hair!!

WF... different stores put em in different places. i've found them by the entrance, by the exit, on a small magazine rack along the side of the customer service desk, on top of the hot food bar.. and elsewhere. if you have a regular store... walk around and peruse corners where you wouldn't normally look/go. also, sometimes when it's just the start of a month, CS has them in a box behind the desk or sometimes out back in the office and just haven't put it out yet. if you ask for it, they will bring it out. WF has great customer service so never hesitate to ask for help.
in addition, every WF store has its own marketing person. if you go in and ask for that person, you can let them know that you wish they had more WD booklets in store and in conspicuous places, because a) you like the recipes/product reviews in there and they inspire you to try/buy new products in store Wink and b) the coupons encourage you to buy more than you otherwise would. Big Grin

the muir glen q - they come around every 2-3 months. believe it or not, i never bought MG there. i've found MG is almost always a better deal at regular grocery stores (it's a GM product). a store in our area had a sale on the organic pasta sauce. with mqs that doubled, it was about a buck a bottle or less. i stocked up.
we don't use any of the canned MG products (or any other canned products for that matter) ever since I learned of BPA in cans. only jarred stuff or tetrapacks.

But how many tea bags to what amount of water? How much sugar?

If I am going to make iced tea , I want the 'real' stuff..after all I have to compensate for the lack of kuerig.
i would say the proportion varies depending on how strong and how sweet you like your tea.
i generally steep a good quality tea with a robust flavor till it has an amber color. not yellow or light orange (Too weak), not dark molasses/dark brown (too strong/bitter). then i add sugar/sweetener to taste till the tea has this full-bodied taste to it. you'll see that too little sugar gets it to taste kind of flat. too much sugar gets it too taste well, sugary, like sugar water with some tea flavoring. that's not what you want. if you keep adding and tasting, you'll notice at a certain point it just hits this 'flowering point' in terms of flavor where the two flavors are balanced, none overpowering and it just tastes full bodied.
i never have a set proportion cos it always varies based on the tea i'm using and how much i'm making and dare i say it, even the brand/type of sugar you use.

We made it safely at 2:30 this morning. Kids were bouncing off the walls. They didn't crash till 6:30 this morning then got up before 9. They are all (besides River) in bed now, hopefully for the entire night.

I am totally exhausted. Taking the trailer back tomorrow AM and then hitting target to do some much needed shopping. Smilie

I don't have too many rules for eating either but my one big one is that if you're hungry you can eat what's given to you --- I don't make a new meal if she doesn't 'like' it. She doesn't have to eat it (and of course I know what she likes and doesn't like so if I know she doesn't like the main dish I try to make sure there's veggies and fruit on the plate that she does) but I don't have an 'alternate' like the school lunch menu always did laugh out loud
Yeah - I am so not doing that either. If we have something really wacky - i.e. super spicy or something, then I'll add something(s) that she can eat without having to refuse the whole meal - but otherwise, she's eating right along with us.

I love ginger - thanks for the reminder to pick some up. I've never had it this way before, but I'll do anything right now.

I haven't noticed anything that seems to trigger it - though it is worse when I'm tired - or maybe more noticeable?? No cycle yet, so I don't know if it's hormonal at all. I am thinking that maybe it could be kidney/bladder related. I've still had days where I've noticed blood in my urine, but every time they've tested me it's come back neg for an infection - but that's been a good 2 months now since the last test. I got annoyed and didn't go back to the doc. I do sometimes feel pressure down low - kind of like cramps or something, but not quite. I am congested right now - just started with a cold late yesterday, and it is definitely worse today from the post nasal drip. Frown I also have some dizziness/light-headedness going on. I don't know... All I see is $$ $$ $$ when I think about it! UGH. New year, new deductible/copays and all that fun stuff. *sigh*

You could add ginger in the tea too.
The chai that we make, recipe goes like this. Boil a cup of water. Bruise a quarter sized ginger peice and a peeled pod of cardamom, add to the boiling water, also add 1-1/2 tsp tea powder or a tea bag to the water, reduce the heat, let it seep for atleast 5 min. Then add 1/4 cup of milk to the tea pot, bring it boil again. Remove filter it, add sugar..voila tea ready Smilie

Also, My mom ask us smell on a lemon in case of nausea sensation..

GG, I was speaking with my mom she asked me to make a pot of soup for my son. It was then i was thinking of you. Do you cook/eat goat meat???
Usually for any person who is healing, say after a surgery or for delivered mothers, person with very frail health, for very had cough... We make soup with goat bones.
Only one point we should remember when cooking with them, have to cook for very long time to get the goodness from the goat bones...
