Yes I think you should say something, but...only if you feel comfortable and only if you don't need the money badly.

You could just tell her...'store' is open on xxx day from this time to that time.
Then you are setting the standard for her, versus her setting the standard.
If she wants the stuff she will come. If she doesn't you haven't wasted your day.

Pick a day/time she has come by in the past and use that time.

Should I say something? The lady that she first came over with wanted to drop by to buy a few things last week- specifically left a message that she wanted some Tide. *sigh* I left her a message stating that she could come over on a specific day but I wouldn't be able to get to the store until the weekend because it was snowing.

She never called back. And I won't buy Tide to resell because they all want it for $2 a bottle. Yeah right. I can't get it for $2 a bottle.

I need to go to the commissary, have now been waiting 2 hours for this lady. I have the other customer coming over at 5:30. No way I can make the trip now, not to mention I still need to get a newspaper and pick up something for dinner. I really need to address this time issue but I don't know how.

ank, dh has a french press we bought at Target years ago. It's a glass one made by Bodum.
Next time give customers the time frame that YOU are available, and put yourself first. If they don't show, you still have time to tend to your other errands. That's what I do with Craigslist people, since so many of them flake out. I have much less stress this way and it's on them to show up or miss out and reschedule when I am available.

The Bodum glass french press is great. However, there is some clean up involved with the grounds if he wants to make a fresh cup more than once. If he is ok with that, it's a great flavor out of that press.

Well I don't NEED it but it's nice. They ended up spending a little more than usual so I can't gripe much. It's cash spending money for the week. I did mention that I had errands to do and I was a little inconvenienced having to wait. They got the message.

Next time look her straight in the face and say "I have a bunnies'. That should fix her.

slowtech, your sil sounds very ungrateful. hug

My vent for the day- someone was supposed to be here at 2 pm to pick up some items. Called at 2:30 to let me know that she won't be able to get here until 3:30.

I have errands I need to do today and by the time she called I couldn't squeeze them into that time frame. If she had called me before 2 to let me know, I could have gotten them done. I've sold this lady some stockpile items before and every time it's like this, she gives me a timeframe and then shows up an hour later. Next time, I'm going to have to say no especially on weekend days when I'm trying to get lots of things done. She previously wanted to come over on a weekday but I get the willys having someone come over to the house on a weekday, when dh isn't home. I'm kind of a scaredy cat. Embarrassment
I think I would leave the house at 2:05 if the appointment is 2:00 next time and see if that will help her get it together.

Meant to post this last night and got busy planning my RA runs and totally forgot! I hope it's not too late for anyone to get in on this. This thread https://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2614251 has links for Barnes and Noble q's. There are q's up to 50% off in store. Separate q's for members and non-members. Yesterday, I ordered the Harry Potter boxed set (so cute! Hardcover and comes in a decorated chest/box that says "deliver to hogwarts"!) at their in-store customer service desk. It is $114 online, so I got that price and asked for it to be delivered (which is free). They print out a receipt and you head to check-out with that receipt. I was VERY lucky and got a cashier that let me use my "surprise" coupon that I was EEK! to find out actually scanned for 50% off! laugh out loud I used the balance from a gift card I've had forever and ended up paying only $45!!!! good afternoon b/c it's not morning here anymore. daily check-in cuz i'm a member (not that kind of member!) and i'm skeered of bunnies! well, i don't want to get on her bad side. have to work harder to get in her siggy!

a little kvetch. sil told me to keep an eye out for a cheap bike for her. bike is not like picking up plates and bowls like last time for her. found the schwinn mens gateway at my store for 44.98, she said to get it. i was going to get it and then see if i could find the womens. didn't realize it wasn't online only like the schwinn lakeshore. was going to pick it up this morn but i emailed her the target page to make sure and she was worried about the bar. she's obese and has physical problems walking, i was afraid she wasn't going to be able to get her leg up high enough and over the bar. so i looked a little closer and it said find it in a store. ends up it's available at a store less than 10 miles from her house. called her and she doesn't have time to go get it but thanks. fyi- her dh is unemployed and spends the day chauffering the kids to and from school and sports practice.

so i do not understand why she is telling me to look for stuff when she can't be bothered to go and get it Confused? what, she wants me to go get it and drive it to her second home 1.75hrs away next time she deigns to invite us b/c she just happens not to have any friends coming over?

i totally know what she's like, but even i was a little taken aback to hear some friend of hers talking about when they stayed over last winter when we were there martin luther kings bday wknd. she didn't invite her parents or her brother(us) until mother's day wknd b/c all her friends that wknd were spending it w/ their families. and i know she invited us so we could pick up her parents and all the kitchen appliances she requested as a housewarming gift that i gave her at her mom's house at xmas. and then drive her parents home. yeah, i gave her her housewarming present at xmas and we didn't even see her house until mothers day.

i know her friends come first and we come a distant second when no friends are available, but sometimes it's just a little too blatant. esp when we are still giving her parents money every single month and she is not. i think we are giving more b/c she stopped giving money to her parents when her dh became unemployed the time b4 this one, about 4yrs ago. and then she buys a second home. hmmm, i think she got to buy another house b/c she wasn't giving money to her parents anymore, even when her dh was employed again. and we are still covering the amount she doesn't give them anymore. and then she doesn't even invite her own parents over for months and months. it all becomes just a little too much to swallow.

so then she wants to save money and i should find her a cheap bike but she would get it only if it was that price online so she didn't have to go to the store and go get it. keep on dreaming that you will ever be able to order a bike online 75% off! getting a bike at 75% off is only b/c it's a hidden deal.

i do want her to get a bike so she would hopefully get some exercise. we went on a family cruise to the bahamas 2 yrs ago and we couldn't go together to some places b/c she can't walk far. but i do things for her and then she treats me as a distant second to her friends. and then if i do something she just asks for more. back in nov she wanted more melamine plates and bowls for her second home, so i got more. when we meet for a bday dinner and i give them to her, she asks me to shop for inexpensive bracelets when i went to southeast asia. not for her, but so she could give them out as xmas presents to her friends kids b/c her dh hasn't been working and she needs to cut back on spending. ok, i would look for something you wanted, but you want me to shop for xmas presents for you to give out to people i don't even know??? it's just too much. i told her no, i would shop for you but i'm not shopping for people i do not even know.

sorry the little complaint turned into a whopper! next, my mom...even dh was surprised at what she said to him. sigh! i think i just got overloaded yesterday w/ family.
Hmmm... I think we may have the same SIL. Does she forget too pay you when pick something up for her as well. Mine does and I always feel bad asking for it so I usually let it go. But then my blood pressure goes up cause I'm so upset about it. I need to learn the art of saying "NO."

of course you should say something. give an inch and they take a mile. that is my sil all the time. try to be nice and she keeps asking for more and then she gets really outrageous. did i mention the time she wanted to stay over my house b/c i was close by to the amusement park and they wanted to get there early for the character breakfast? and she wanted to invite 3 other couples each with 2 kids to also stay over at my house whom i did not know. and i couldn't even go with them to the amusement park b/c they where headed to philly after and couldn't take me home. i only live a half hr from the amusement park but it was in the wrong direction. so 16 people staying at my house like a hotel of which 12 were total strangers and they don't even spend any time with me, just bed down for the nite and leave early in the morning. i can't even believe she asked. after being outraged for awhile i told her one other family could stay but not all of them. they all just ended up getting up early and leaving straight from home.

when they make an appt, just tell them you have to be at so and so a place at such time and if she doesn't show up on time, sorry, you cannot wait. if they are late, you won't be there. you need to be firm and be the one in control of the situation. time is money and she is wasting your time and your money.

they think that you need them and you will wait around for them but they are more aggro for little return. let them show up one day and you aren't there after fair warning. they won't able to complain. there is a reason you are cheaper than the store, but it comes w/ more restrictions. if they want to just come whenever they want, then they will have to go to the store where they hire people to just wait around for customers to come in and buy stuff. and pay more money for the privilege.

as for the tide, there are some things you just cannot get that cheap. like the tiffany store. they never have a sale and you never find their merchandise at off-price stores. just tell people that you cannot get it at a good price. don't buy it and then be left holding the bag anymore.

i always make her pay. b/c we used to go out to family dinners that we were supposed to split and she wouldn't bring money and then she would owe us... a lot. dh was supposed to keep track and of course didn't keep good records so it got into the hundreds of dollars. so she paid for dinners for awhile but i'm sure it wasn't all she owed and now we just split on the credit cards or she charges and we give her cash. she orders stuff online for her sister who lives in italy and she always makes her pay, even though it's for her kids and italy sil makes very little in comparison. this sil makes very, very good money and spends it all. she does look for sales, but if she wants something, she'll just pay full price. so i am doing her a favor and saving her money that she would have spent, but i'm not going to run around buying it for her and pay for it also.

i'm very upfront and tell her right when i'm giving it to her, you owe me xx.xx.

but i don't know how we are ever going to get back the 50,000 continental miles she owes us. she didn't want to pay for a ticket to france for her dh in the middle of the summer so she asked to borrow miles. now her dh is unemployed and she gives out xmas presents to a huge circle of friends so this yr she used all her points to get various gc's. we each got macys gc's from her for xmas. btw- i've had a 10.00 macys gc sitting in my wallet for over 2 yrs. so she doesn't have any miles left. her ds is graduating from high school in another yr and i told dh as a joke maybe we should tell him we are giving him a ticket to europe for a graduation present and go get it from his mom.

On the bad note.. my darn eye is starting to hurt again.. feels like that stupid stye again. Frown
