whole foods will also clean up chicken or fish for you. couple of months ago they had a great sale on whole sea bass. now i cannot cook whole fish, the sight of the fish staring at me gives me the willies.
so i asked them to clean and fillet for me. they did! no cost. deboned, filleted. saved me so much time and effort.
raw milk/cheese - would be so awesome. i looked into it, but don't have any organic raw milk dairies close to me. would be a 1.5 drive each way atleast. too much. i would do it occassionally if I'm making cheese from scratch, but otherwise it is just too cumbersome in terms of the driving time. you are lucky!
as for chicken tenders... what are you doing with them, frying or oven baking?
We are having stuffed jalapenos. Found a way that I can clean them. It's a pain in the arse and I'm not doing it often, but at least I can do it. They are cleaned and the filling is made. Gotta stuff and bake them when we are ready to eat. Best part is, they are only 1/2 carb each so I can eat all I want without exceeding my limit for the day.

there are 2 of us but what i like to do is cook for 4 and then have some leftovers for another day later in the wk when i'm out and about and have less time to cook. or there is food for lunch on the wknds or for dh when i go grocery shopping. you could cook for 2 and then have food for later in the wk when you don't feel like cooking.
the shrimp one sounds interesting to me. i already do an off the cuff version of the chicken and pasta dish all the time w/o the cheese. the only thing i don't like about these types of recipes is that they call for products not straightforward ingredients which i usually don't have and i'm not about to go buy just to try out a recipe.
for instance, the shrimp and pasta calls for balsamic vinaigrette dressing which i don't want to buy just for this recipe. i do just happen to have balsamic vinegar and olive oil this time. ooh, got to ask sil to bring parmesan cheese from italy for me.
the fish dish calls for instant rice which i'm not going to buy b/c i have 25lbs of jasmine rice. and a lb of regular rice and a bunch of seasoned rice packages i got for free. i could probably just leave out the rice and water but other recipes it's harder to substitute or alter.
I don't know if ya'll remember, but a couple of months ago audriannasmommy (sp) had talked about online consignment through Facebook. I got hooked!

a little kvetch. sil told me to keep an eye out for a cheap bike for her. bike is not like picking up plates and bowls like last time for her. found the schwinn mens gateway at my store for 44.98, she said to get it. i was going to get it and then see if i could find the womens. didn't realize it wasn't online only like the schwinn lakeshore. was going to pick it up this morn but i emailed her the target page to make sure and she was worried about the bar. she's obese and has physical problems walking, i was afraid she wasn't going to be able to get her leg up high enough and over the bar. so i looked a little closer and it said find it in a store. ends up it's available at a store less than 10 miles from her house. called her and she doesn't have time to go get it but thanks. fyi- her dh is unemployed and spends the day chauffering the kids to and from school and sports practice.
so i do not understand why she is telling me to look for stuff when she can't be bothered to go and get it
i totally know what she's like, but even i was a little taken aback to hear some friend of hers talking about when they stayed over last winter when we were there martin luther kings bday wknd. she didn't invite her parents or her brother(us) until mother's day wknd b/c all her friends that wknd were spending it w/ their families. and i know she invited us so we could pick up her parents and all the kitchen appliances she requested as a housewarming gift that i gave her at her mom's house at xmas. and then drive her parents home. yeah, i gave her her housewarming present at xmas and we didn't even see her house until mothers day.
i know her friends come first and we come a distant second when no friends are available, but sometimes it's just a little too blatant. esp when we are still giving her parents money every single month and she is not. i think we are giving more b/c she stopped giving money to her parents when her dh became unemployed the time b4 this one, about 4yrs ago. and then she buys a second home. hmmm, i think she got to buy another house b/c she wasn't giving money to her parents anymore, even when her dh was employed again. and we are still covering the amount she doesn't give them anymore. and then she doesn't even invite her own parents over for months and months. it all becomes just a little too much to swallow.
so then she wants to save money and i should find her a cheap bike but she would get it only if it was that price online so she didn't have to go to the store and go get it. keep on dreaming that you will ever be able to order a bike online 75% off! getting a bike at 75% off is only b/c it's a hidden deal.
i do want her to get a bike so she would hopefully get some exercise. we went on a family cruise to the bahamas 2 yrs ago and we couldn't go together to some places b/c she can't walk far. but i do things for her and then she treats me as a distant second to her friends. and then if i do something she just asks for more. back in nov she wanted more melamine plates and bowls for her second home, so i got more. when we meet for a bday dinner and i give them to her, she asks me to shop for inexpensive bracelets when i went to southeast asia. not for her, but so she could give them out as xmas presents to her friends kids b/c her dh hasn't been working and she needs to cut back on spending. ok, i would look for something you wanted, but you want me to shop for xmas presents for you to give out to people i don't even know??? it's just too much. i told her no, i would shop for you but i'm not shopping for people i do not even know.
sorry the little complaint turned into a whopper! next, my mom...even dh was surprised at what she said to him. sigh! i think i just got overloaded yesterday w/ family.

you don't need to grow balls, you just need to shake off the guilt. you're not being a bad friend by telling her to do it, and teaching her how to: you're being a good friend.
i've recently started this with loved ones. when i first got hurt, i would tell them to use the coupons and I'd get anger and refusal and "uhh, please stop being so miserly counting every dollar. let go of your coupons, so what if we pay for it regularly once, blah blah blah"
finally, i gave up and figured you know let it come to a head and let the costs add up and then maybe they'll see the light. so sure enough, it got to "don't you have a coupon for this? and i need/want this that and the other, need you to go with me/us/her/him so we can get it for free/cheap". now we've gotten to "can you give me the coupon/print it out for me and tell me how?"
i'm working on getting it to - learn where to find it, learn how to print it, learn how to use it.
friday i told one person with a big smile, no i'm not going to do it for you, you need to learn so you are never stuck and can always save, and then gave them the fishing adage. it worked.
it's all in how you pitch it!
M2C and tootsie, sometimes I think both of you are 12 year old boys, just masquerading as moms.
